Here's Why The Ferrari FF Is The Ultimate £100,000 Used Car - And You Need To Buy One NOW

- In today's video I am looking at what I believe could be the finest car you can buy for £100,000. Costing £250,000+ when new, and fitted with a Ferrari V12 mated to a complex but clever AWD system, is the FF really a car you can use all year round and should you consider one over a new RS6?

My FF is the car I most regret parting with. I did 20,000 very happy miles in it, including the Ferrari 70th anniversary rally. Crossing the Alps in that with 500 other Ferraris and the rozzers looking the other way courtesy of Ferrari was one of the best motoring experiences ever.
Oh and for load space, I once loaded it up with 3 small armchairs (in bits) 7 carry on size bags, assorted carrier bags of stuff and a road bike.
Amazing🥰
You know you can edit your typos in 2022.
I didn't go much on my FF when I still owned one. Sure, it was practical'ish, reasonably quick and had a nice note, but it just didn't make me feel anything.
My Bugatti Veyron, on the other hand? Well. Impractical? Yes. Guzzles fuel? Absolutely. Better than both Ferraris, a Lamborghini and McLaren that I've owned previously? By a country mile. This car, the Veyron, is just absolutely mind blowing.
@@iiwii8622 the Veyron has a beautiful design but has too many flaws, starting with its slowness for a proclaimed “supercar”, and is much slower than the Koeniggseg Jesko I recently acquired at a garage sale last month. Enjoy yours though.
Just took delivery of my FF to replace my f355 spider after 20 years ownership.. First trip was into wales. They are obviously totally different cars and initially I felt I was missing the raw Ferrari experience of the manual 355 and I felt a little sad, but I then set the FF into sport mode!!!! And bang The Ferrari beast came alive...totally unbelievable!!! I had to laugh out load and I could not stop smiling and I fell more in love with it as the miles clicked by. This is a true mega Ferrari that is full of Italian passion and the best thing is I can share it with my family and friends.. It is also so classy and cool, plus such a smooth GT cruiser when you want it to be.. It has to be Ferrari's best kept secret..
Jay Emm: buy a Ferrari FF, NOW!!!!
my bank account: nope.
“Hello, is that Meridian Ferrari? I see you have a FF for sale. I’ve a very nice 550 to trade in.” 😁
Best trade ever
@@freddiejones4598 I'd take the 550 over the FF myself
Imagine trading a good looking 550 for that ugly lump
@@2702simmo Exactly. When I see this car I don't think car guy, I think rich old man with only a one car garage.
Keep the 50 i recon.. just a bit longer.
Your raw exhaust note captures are still the best I've ever heard on RUclips and pretty much anywhere else.
Thankyou
I really like the FF but it cannot match the Rapide in styling and, let’s not forget, 2 more doors, that virtually disappear until you are right up on it. These really help when entering and exiting the vehicle.
When I close my eyes, the engine noise takes me back to the 90’s F1 races on tv... 🥰
Weren’t those v10’s
@@Fee.1 well, sort of.. Back in the 90's F1 engines were limited to displacement(3.5L lowered to 3L after Senna's death) and natural aspiration, cilinder count was whatever you wanted but all teams transitioned to V10's because they were best of both worlds between a V8 and V12, with Ferrari being the last team to make the transition to V10, with 412T2(used for 1995 season) being last V12 F1 car.
I'm listening to this with subtitles. At 24 00 it describes the sound of the V12 as "MUSIC"!!!

I don't often make comment on anything on the internet. But with this channel, I have watched as many videos as I can because I really enjoy both the subject matter and the delivery of them. Straight talking, informative and entertaining. I love finding out about cars I cannot currently afford and I appreciate the honest and broad-minded approach to humble or left-field cars that others are quick to sneer at. This is my favourite channel on RUclips.
TL;DR 14:14
Proper review man.
You are right, there isn't and probably won't ever be anything like this ever!
I love the looks. And everything else.
Looks very much like the BMW Z3 M Coupe from the side. Looks great from the back.
You're so right. I see these a lot in Surrey and I think of BMW. But it is growing on me. Especially after this video.
Really enjoyed this, I have an FF, the original, the Jensen
Ha ha, does have a bit of Jenson interceptor look about it from the year.
That is a seriously cool car
Please get this car to JayEmm!
AT , as a boy I loved the Jensen FF
My aunt had a jensen. Loved it.
I remember when the FF came out and how it reminded me of the Ferrari "Bread van", that is one of my favourite classic that races at Goodwood Revival and Members meeting. Quirky looks, but what a soundtrack to move four people about.
The 456 was a really cool family GT car as well. They did an ultra rare estate version of it too.
Love a 456. Especially the click clack gear shift.
Best review of the FF, ever! Also, with the comparison to the GTC4Lusso. Best car review, ever!
*Sees title*
My bank balance: That doesn’t apply to you
Word, I'm over here thinking, can I really get a Maverick for $20k?
"Yet" :)
"Ferrari" & "load space" - in the same review. That's a first.
Hints of the Z3M (which I also loved) in the looks dept, just a much more grown up package. Very happy to see it so fondly received.
Also MGB GT
Good spot. I'd love a Z3M
holy depreciation! 80K is a steal!
I'm not much of a Ferrari fanboy but I love this and the TDF, must be this shape, the long bonnet, long doors and short rear does it for me.
hahaha like most buyers, you unwisely only consider the FIRST COST.. Who will maintain and repair it?
@@anastassiosperakis2869 as a car owner for almost 20years I know that feeling when you start hearing expensive noises coming from the places that did not make those noises before.
Yup, I'm definitely a fan of this car!
Hello James, thank you for this magnificent presentation of the Ferrari FF! I fully agree with you on all levels. I own an FF and I am completely fascinated by it! I had the chance to drive a lot of nice cars in my life so far - but none can match a Ferrari FF. The combination of talents is unbeatable. The money to pleasure ratio is just fantastic. Anyone who has the chance to get one of these shoudl go for it. I have a Maserati 3200 gt manual and an FF in the garage - and I am in automotive heaven! :-) Cheers.
How does the gtc4lusso compare? Is it worse or an upgrade?
@@Harpreet06 The GTC4 Lusso is more refined and also a fantastic car. But for me the FF is the original and gives me everything I need. GTC4 is for people with even higher expectations, but for me the FF will do. Both designs are very good, I just like the FF a little bit better. And as far as power and performance is concerned - more than enough, they are both way too fast! For more information, see also the FF review of Doug DeMuro on RUclips. Cheers!
@@cobra1010 Would you agree with Jayemm in this video? He was saying the GTC4 is a better daily driver but the FF is more fun.
@@Harpreet06 Yes, I fully agree! The GTC4 is smoother and more refined, with better infotainment equipment and an even more perfect quality appearance. And the FF is really loud when starting cold! It gets guieter after 5-10 seconds, but you can hear that thing. But for me the FF ticks all the boxes! I really doubt, that there will ever be another car, that can give so much pleasure. FF probably my last car - I have to find another hobby! :-D
@@cobra1010 funny! I just got a 2015 Rapide and feel it better outlast me! If not, I will also need a new hobby! 😀
These are an amazing car. And the technology of that 4wd system is so clever. Some day, dream car
"Ordinary Average Ferrari" Those words need to be printed on a T-shirt.
Hahaha i thought the same lol

Couldn’t agree more - best designed car ever for any situation. Mega

I like this one...FF always looked good to me, didn't understand why Ferrari dropped it.A great all-rounder. Super vid, James, 👍🏻
Because they needed to replace it with a newer model, as you do.
If you can't pay cash for your ferrari, unless buying through business reasons,
You probably can't afford it
That’s why the gtc4 lasso came
Great review, great points made. The comparison between this and the Lusso was interesting insight. Thanks
I think if I had the dream chance to own one, I would never tire of driving it, looking at it, thinking about it, talking about it, etc. And it’s a safe investment. Good work James and James!
Excellent review. Hit all the points I wanted. Especially the comparison with the GT4 Lusso
Excellent well put together and informed review. Thanks James
This review further encourages me to recommend Jay Emm for the award as the best car reviewer on RUclips - if not anywhere.
I couldn’t agree more with his views on the FF - I test drove one up for private sale 2 years ago and still haven’t been able to fully reconcile the number of dimensions of ecstasy that V12 offered.
My life - as the saying goes - has never been the same since..
Jay Emm tells it like it is - has his own carefully elucidated opinions and as he isn’t selling anything or beholden to any manufacturers his channel is essentially one of the only places you can find a real opinion.
Well done Jay Emm - you’re our hero!!
Hahah "you need to buy one now".
Bro I'm in a k11 Micra atm
A really professional and refreshingly enthusiastic and comprehensive report JM. Keep ‘em coming.
The one thing you didn't mention - that came across quite evidently - was the sheer FUN of driving the FF!!
So glad you drove one at last, you can still have a shot of mine if you're up in Scotland any time. I've had many cars, including about 15 Porsches (inc stuff like 993 turbo), several Maserati, M cars and the FF is the best of them all. Thanks for the honest and enthusiastic review, I think it's one of the best modern cars produced and at last becoming more appreciated. Oh, and the stereo does do bluetooth streaming, just cycle the radio/media button on the left and select the phone, assuning it's bluetooth paired and off you go. And if you stick a usb straight into the headunit, it does it as well with track name etc coming up.
Great video, that V12 sounds great! I love the red paint too!
Always loved this. Looks quirky, but this is a very special car. Imo this and the GTC4 Lusso (V12) are pretty much the best usable cars ever made
Yeah say that to a Volvo driver... 😂

Yeah you realized your comment wasn't right, good thing
Great video Jay, I really like the FF. Not had the chance to drive one yet but since Shmee bought his a few years back, I’ve had my opinion changed. They also sound good, hearing one around the track at Donington last weekend, only the F12 & the older cars could could match it… Just need to find one to try now….
Ken Lingelfelter has arguably one of the greatest car collections in the world and owns most of the god tier Ferraris and when I talked to him and asked him what his favorite car was he said his FF. At the time it was his daily driver and may still be.
Great vid! Thanks!
Beautifully descriptive piece and now I must at least try one out, if not own. Soul stirred, job done.
Great video, thank you. I am yet more excited to be borrowing an ff to take to France for a month over Christmas and the New Year.
Yeah the FF is one of the only late model Ferrari's I liked
Not overly stylised but still stands out with it's unusual body, NA V12 👌
No one is ever going to review an EV in the same way as cars like this
ruclips.net/video/qen0ZlZM0ZA/видео.html
It's a weird one because I've always fancied the GTC4 Lusso in my fantasy garage, and yet I keep constantly and consistently keep hearing that it's second fiddle is actually the true virtuoso. So there you go: FF it is.
What a wonderful review!!! As a former Verde British Racing over Cuoio FF in Western NY USA I salute your assessment. It is the best daily car I have and probably will ever own even more than my tuned 958 Cayenne Turbo and 964 RS America. Viva Ferrari.
Beautiful colour combo

But you're face, you're voice, and just your all-round mood in this video is unparalleled! You love this car! And I agree 100%. It's a lovely driving machine! Thank you for a great review.
Great vid. Thanks.
Quality review, love the comparisons with the oompetition too
So having watched this, it helped my decision and I’ve now bought one for £83k. Comes next week :) Fingers crossed nothing expensive breaks! Upgrading from an RS3 that got robbed. I thought about an RS4/6 but, this is a Ferrari, and the maths might work out…£23k deposit, £330 month. Keep it for 2 years before the balloon is due. Cant see it depreciating much more, just servicing and running costs as comes with warranty. Plus, Ferrari V12…
An FF for 83k? Cool story bro.
Not a Ferrari warranty ..?
How are you getting on with it?
@@mattarmstrong6298 i sold it. It was a lovely car, but i bought a lemon and ended up spending £20k on jt, including a PTU refurb. I had to get rid. If you buy one, get a pre purchase inspection by Ferrari. But as a car, it was a beautiful amazing machine. Most comfortable car ive ever had, and if you want to, you can have a lot of very rapid fun surrounded by V12. Dont ever buy a car from GVE.
What did you go to after the FF?
I daily an S65 coupe and considering the next car. Thinking between $160k USD for an FF or $230k for a GT3touring.
I've never been a Ferrari fan, always liked Lambos as a kid. But this thing looks glorious! And it really isn't that expensive. I want one.
Thanks for a great video. I just recently discovered your channel and now I'm going through most of the content. Loving it
Superb video dude! What a car and what an engine!
If you have the RUclips subtitles on the open sequence of fantastic exhaust sounds is translated into
Applause, wow, music
Think that pretty well says it all.
Love the FF, especially in a TDF blue with a light interior. Couple of things you didn’t mention....the car is massive, and the potential wallet busting running costs. I will be interested to hear how expensive this is to keep serviced, renew the warranty etc.
In fairness, being a Ferrari, you'd be naive to expect anything other than massive running costs and servicing. XD
A normal service is in the multiple thousands 😬 so whereas £90k on a finance deal looks attainable, the maintenance will be insane.
You don’t buy a Ferrari thinking about how much the service will cost you do you? If you do, don’t buy it because you certainly can’t afford it.
I've owned a 458 for several years now and the running and maintenance costs have been quite reasonable. In fact, less than the various Porsches I've owned over the years.
@@MS-1994 good to hear. Hopefully @Jayemm will do another update with ongoing costs. I’d be very interested understand how it’s been.
I am a massive Porsche fan but this is probably the best motor car ever. When we are all in electric crossovers capable of 0-60 in 2 secs but no soul we will look back at this, not the undrivable F8 or even an unattainable Bugatti but a Ferrari FF
Or you could get a pre owned panamera. Less exotic. Similar performance envelope. More practical. Has a fighting chance of operating without insane amounts of investment.
20secs in and hit the like button :)
Fezza V12 just sounds amazing. Suppose I better watch the rest of the video now.
Totally agreed! Thanks for the video!
I can imagine the downshifts gives you butterflys?
JayEmm’s shirt game is on point today.
Great review. Hope to look at GTC4 Lusso T next week.
The indicators make senses 3 flashes means ur merging so u can hold it down where’s as long ones your turning the wheel around completely so don’t have the time to hold it in if u get me? Dad has had 4 modern ones.
hello james...quality content and love ya videos
James, how about something for half the price which, to my eyes at least, looks more elegant? Of course, I'm talking about my recently acquired 456GTA...Beautiful interior, 4 seats and a boot. Still has a V12 up front, adequate (4.8 0-60, 193 top speed) performance if you want to keep your licence....The newer Ferraris just don't do it for me, stupendous performance : yes, silly prices: yes. Good looks: er, maybe...458 still very pretty but still TOO much money! Flogged the 355 after 10 years and much fun. Absolutely didn't buy it as an investment but paid £35K, sold for £75K...minus the odd bit of maintenance....haha, ask any 355 owner about that! Now that I'm an old fart I thought a front-engined 4-seater V12 would satisfy the craving without upsetting the wife. She actually said, ooh I like the colour (blue TDF) and found it 'quite comfortable'. Thank God for small mercies. Cheers from a (slightly sweaty) Otford, Kent.
The 456 is a gorgeous GT. Supposedly it was the first Ferrari Rowan Atkinson (amongst others) went for and he was hooked. You are a lucky fellow.
@@Kelveron Thank you for your kind comment! My first (as Mr Ferrari might have said..) proper Ferrari: V12, horse comes before the cart and all that! Definitely a very different experience to my previous little red cars ( 2 328 GTBs, 360 Modena and 355 Berlinetta) but certainly none the worse for that, even the wife likes it (that's a first...). I actually think the steering feel is better on the 456 than the 355. Always thought the 355 helm was a little too light. What the heck, horses (!) for courses etc. Thought I would have to try a V12 Ferrari before I got too old to get in and out of one...Cheers from a slightly less sweaty Otford, Kent.
Same could be said of 612
Thanks for sharing. The only Ferrari I would buy, thanks for the video.
I have a Grigio Silverstone FF that I bought 6 months ago and absolutely love it!!! Such a great car!
Love the FF. Best daily by far. That V12 is magic and you get to share it with 3 passengers.
glad you have had the opportunity to drive cars at a level that you can make a judgement..most of us will be relying on others opinions / experience to make calls on what is best ....thanks for giving us the insights though...
Damn! I really wish you hadn’t done this video, James. Now everybody’s going to want one! 🤫 I’ve been tracking these for some time, just waiting for the values to soften. That V12 is epic and the drive-by around 14:18 is wonderful. One suggestion: drop the rear-mounted camera and do more drive-bys at full chat.
What a great review and driving impressions James, and the FF is just fabulous! Much want, from a Porsche guy.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video
Great review and FF. Love it too👌

Great review Jay. Without having driven either it sounds like the GTC4Lusso is to the FF what the 2017 GTR was to earlier models - easier to live with every day but less a drivers car. Oh and for what it's worth the RS6 is not only 200kg heavier but carries 300kg extra mass on the front axle vs the FF due to terrible weight distribution. FF is a dream car of mine, can you tell!
Outstanding review.
Congrats to your friend for being in a position to own one of these! Fair play. That V12 is worth the money alone I think.
I absolutely love this car but my ultimate is the 456GT,such a pretty car, missing the 4wd so granted,as a daily, would not work with as well....but....soooo pretty
I love the 456 but it's missing the sound of the FF. Just my opinion.

Hope to own this within 2 years, God willing the car market doesn't completely continue to go bonkers. I sadly think it will
Thanks for the great review. Are these just about practical enough to justify as a daily (or GTC4 Lusso v8 maybe) with some high level man maths? Probably still out of my budget, but can’t see prices falling much more on them so the only way is up.
Yes 🙌🏻
Definitely something I might look at buying
Always loved this car. Magnificent, but to be fair not quite as good as your shirt.... 😁👏👏
Great shirt 🤙🏼
Geez Jay! I don't know what to say!? That was a brilliant review and sums up exactly how I feel about my ownership, although I'm only a few months in now. When people ask me what i think about mine i think I will just point them to this video as you articulated my thoughts perfectly. When asked what I will replace it with one day I have absolutely no idea. The Lusso is, like you say, a better daily but no necessarily a better drivers car, in fact I think its too sanitised. (by comparison of course) For me, a couple of things niggle me which i am working my way through; first is those amber side repeaters, I changed mine for clear. Second is the ride height, like most Ferrari's the gap in the wheel arches is just too much. As you said, you didn't need to use the lift and that tells you everything you need to know about how high it sits. I have 2 axle lift so I will be lowering mine. Third is the noise. If I could drive around with the rear hatch open all day I would! The sound coming out the back is glorious but not enough of it gets in the cabin, So I'm hoping a Novitec fixes that. Other than that i feel its the perfect car and one I can share (as I do) with my family. I can take the kids to car meets, do the school run and euro jaunts (when we're allowed - cant wait!)
Keep up the good work!
Thanks, glad I got the car right
Nice ferrari, good relaxing review.
The FF seems perfect if intentions are dominated by sharing the Ferrari experience with family or friends... And Jay, not sure why, but I've fallen in love with the shirt you're wearing! Cheers from Charlotte, NC
I have to say I don't think I've seen you more enthusiastic about any other car. If I was in the market for a Ferrari then first off it would always be a V12. I'm just not turned on by the "look at me" mid engined ones. I like a sleeper type of Ferrari. Just like this. Great video. My favourite one of yours so far.
take that fella for a drinkie... entertaining and informational. a treat to watch and listen to.
Great video. But a small correction: GTC4 Lusso has hydraulic steering. The first Ferrari to have electric steering is the 812.
I’ve always loved these...this just seems to confirm everything I’ve thought they’d be.
All the car you’ll ever need.
As a Ferrari FF owner, you are 100% spot on with your review! It is truly the most capable daily driver.
Great review Jay. This or new Taycan S? Exhaust sounds magical but fuel cost will continue to rise and at the back of my head, I am concerned demand will fall when you come to sell later on. LC500 seems like a good comparable too.
Drove one when I was 17...guy from my church let me drive it a few miles down the road. Unbelievable car. And I get what you mean by its different to another ferrari in a more special way... owning a ferrari for weekends is cool, but owning a ferrari that you can just get in and drive for miles is on a whole other level.
While I love your videos the external exhaust shot + sounds usually attempt to blow out my speakers and eardrums.... this one didn't! Not sure if it's a new setup or just that the Ferrari sounds so good it's soothed the spirit of my phone speakers!
100% agree. Life goal to own one, but I'll settle with driving one lol
Saw one today and they are beautiful!!!
612, FF and GTC4Lusso are the Ferrari for me as with 2 young children would need to fit the family if I ever want to drive it regularly. Interesting to hear your take of FF compared with GTC4Lusso especially as FF costs practically half of the GTC4Lusso. I still love Chris Harris' comment when he bought his FF back in 2014 for around £160k, "Sometimes you have to do stupid things, because you want to do stupid things" I just wish I was brave enough to get one, keep it for a year to experience that glorious Ferrari v12!
I don't have £100,000 to spend on a car and if I did it would probably go towards a house instead. I also don't believe in finance packages and would rather own a used car outright. You do realise that rapid inflation is coming and that means interest rates will have to be raised soon which will make car payments hard to repay. The Storm is coming...
Depends what the finance package is. From new often the finance package is much better than buying outright. I’ve got 140i. I put 5k down and it’s £410 a month. That means over the 3 year deal I’m out of the door for less than 20k. The car will depreciate more than that over 3 years..
So what's the point in your comment?
