    I'm an American Australian. Moved to Sydney in 2001. I grew up in a mostly Ford family. My dad always drove Ford trucks (uts) and cars. My dads last vehicle before he passed away a couple of years ago was a 2002 F250. It pulled a large 5th wheel around the US for 15 years and never let him stranded. Back in 2017 I was in the market for a 4x4. I shopped around and had the Fortuna and the Prado on my list of possible purchases. Happy to say I made what I believe is the smarter decision and bought the Everest. It now has over 150k on the OD. It's been up and down eastern Australia many time with the family and a caravan. I don't see the value in Toyota these days. They are more expensive than the competition and they offer less as a package. Even when they try to step up with the GR series of vehicles they just don't feel special. I drove the GR Carolla and yes it was neat to drive but for the price and the cheap boring interior and most of all the 3 cylinder engine it fails.

      Toyota resale makes up for much of the initial price disadvantage. Fleets and commercial buyers buy them for reliability ilo features.

      Honestly I think ford is now ahead of Toyota like you can get a Toyota Prado 2023 it’s got scratchy plastic and all the cheap things and still the Everest is really nice led light and indicators (platinum) and I think it’s a steal like even for the Land Cruiser it’s embarrassing paying 150k for a Toyota even with the Corolla and stuff 33k for base model jeez

    Love the comment Scott about Ford putting some effort into the rest of there product range. They need to grow it and promote it, instead of blaming slow sales and then dropping great cars like the Ford Escape. A very underated SUV.

    • @MecTecher
      @MecTecher 7 месяцев назад

      Ford Escape would’ve sold if they actually marketed the thing. You ask people and they’ve never heard of it because Ford refuses to market anything that may poach Ranger/Everest sales.

      Couldn't agree more. My wife didn't even know about it until I took her to see a Puma and she found the Escape. We now own a Puma and an Escape. I don't take away from the fact that the Ranger is a good product, but Ford needs to work on its lineup. Toyota is successful because they service every category available.

    Thanks for another great program guys, however, an ask for this year; there are many makers sneaking through scrutiny because of low levels of understanding of what constitutes an efficient EV.

    Regarding your comments at 42 minutes about people not turning headlights on at night… with all the current ANCAP or EuroNCAP requirements, why in the name of God don’t ALL cars have DRL’s on with the tail lights AND why don’t they have mandatory automatic dusk sensing headlights? It is completely beyond me that we have blind spot monitors but not auto-on headlights. And there is no excuse that is good enough… especially when we have things like CarPlay as standard on cheaper cars.

    If the cars are taking so long to arrive. Does the warranty start from when you get the car, or from the model year.

    • @CarExpertAus
      @CarExpertAus  7 месяцев назад +1

      In Australia, warranty begins when the car is marked as sold. Typically if you have ordered a vehicle, this will be once the vehicle arrives at the dealership and you have transferred funds to the dealer to pay for the vehicle. It often coincides with initial registration.

    I had waited around 12 months for an i30N Hatch Premium DCT and was told at least another 6 months. Switched to a Tucson and got it within 3 months. Completely different, but I couldn't justify the wait + the price difference between the two and the more value for money in the Tucson with tech.

      @@Freeworld1969 I'm sure I see one of them in my future still, probably the sedan. Sales guy was horrible, scumbag would constantly dodge calls, say he'd call back and never do it, take weeks to reply to emails, messed up the rego when the Tucson arrived.

      Huge mistake. An unmolested i30N will be a gem in a few years. If you had a shit salesman just drive down the road to the next dealership and complain and they'll bend over backwards for you to get the business. At least did you get a Highlander N-Line?

    I will never understand WHY people here in Australia buy small cars. They are death traps. Why lose to death or have serious injured family member/s - friends for the sake of spending an extra 10-20k. What price does one put on their family & friends. Mid-large SUV every time with ARB bull bar for driver / front passenger front corner impact protection. We live in a different society with too many tech distractions. Must protect yourself - family & friends from speeding, drug, alcohol, tired, distracted - looking a smart phone & feral drivers.
