Nice job. I've reached an age where close up vision and hands that shake... at times, have sent me back to grinding jigs. As you age, you'll discover you can improve close up vision with reading type glasses but the trade off is los s of depth of field! So my free hand grinds are unique each time I free hand them. it also occasionally creates a catch while turning, which creates a design improvement! the good news is you have many years before that's an issue for you! Keep the videos coming I enjoy them very much. 😊
Ray key used the very long right wing of that tool like a very obtuse skew to keep dense exotics from tearing. Way cheaper to use a shear scrapper likee Raffam does.
Very nice regrind. Just an idea for the old gouge. Maybe as an experiment, you could use an angle grinder with grinding or thick cutoff wheel to take the flute back few more cm. I tried something similar recently with 16 mm hss round blank and ground pretty useful bottom bowl gouge. Just an idea. Keep turning!
That last little video really got my curiosity going, will you be recording a video on how that was made? I’ve made a few jigs to hold tools on the lathe but never thought of threading, that was a great looking thread sort of an acme stile
Goodmorning from south US.... i bought Robusts colleted handle for a new Thompson bowl gouge. Lovely but spendy at 150 for all collets. Jimmy clewes has a quick change collet system that can be used on a home turned handle. Much better at $60 but thats for one size. Appreciate your real world "as you work" videos TT.
I notice that both you and Richard use a spindle Gouge often the first time you rough out a bowl blank. What is the advantage of that over your regular bowl gouge? Thanks. Denny
Hi Denny Well its cheaper then bowl gouge, and on some species shavings can jam on bowl gouge vs on spindle it just flies off.... Other then that its personal preference and on the inside I use bowl gouge as its more stable and gives me better angle of attack
Tomislav, thanks to you I have contacted Robin Leonhardt of Steinert. He offered me the opportunity to buy a used Killinger KM1450SE in good condition. What do you think would be a realistic price for such a machine?
Yes, a video on how you made those threads please. Loved the short intro too !
Will do something with that for sure
I'm so glad it's not you that are retiring. I love your videos and keep it up
Oh God Tomislav, when I heard the word retirement, my heart skipped a beat! I'm so relieved it's not you retiring. Us turners need your expertise.
Thank you Joe, don't worry, I don't plan on retire any time soon 😉

Thank you Richard, sorry about vision, that can be difficult and jigs certainly help.... thank you for watching
🕶Good job Tomislav
Tomislav you are allowed to retire you are a good mentor.
Tomislav did you get an email from me?
Thank you, don't worry, I'm not planning on🤗
Thanks for sending email, glad I could help

lol, you definitely had me thinking you were retiring. I would love to see an in-depth video on your threading jig.
I'll do something for sure ☺️

Thank you for watching and comment and suggestion, I have some other ideas for it when the time comes but yours is not a bad approch😉
I'm always hesitant to put a new grind on. I should practice first on less expensive tools.

I won't do a build video but I'll probably do a box or something that I'll show how it works and all the parts....
Very nice.

Thank you sir, Thompson is a great tool company and you won't regret it.... you'll enjoy and I envy a bit as its hard to get that here in Croatia ☺️

@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Thank you!!
God, I wish I could sharpen my tools to cut like yours. Just can't consistently do it.
Its repetition and practice, using platform usually helps with freehand sharpening
Thanks!
