I think there’s some leniency in the immigration laws if the company you work at goes bankrupt and if you have a family, house etc here but I’m not sure. It’s important in any case to start a process with Migrationsverket as if you wait to long, for example when you are already unemployed, then that can be a reason for denial of a visa.

In anyway, living at the same adress, shared economy, and having children togheter is altso prove of that! The only real benefit of being marriged in sweden is if one of the partner dies and there is children with other partners!

Hi I'm sure you've found it already but i have just applied for the jobseeker visa which you can get if you have higher-level education. I have no idea how it will take and he may have to pop back to UK to apply. If successful, it means you can stay and look for jobs. Also as soon as you get a job you can start working on the same day that you apply for the full work permit. So you don't have to wait.
I have been applying for jobs from the UK and been rejected quickly they say it's because they don't want to wait for the work permit, which i understand. Fingers crossed, I'll be coming to Stockholm soon. I'll let you know how long the visa takes.

Sorry to hear this. I really hope this works out for you. However in 5:45 "You have to prove that you really need this person". I think this is wrong. I'm no expert in migration laws but as far as I know we don't have such law in Sweden. This is called "arbetsmarknadsprövning" in Swedish and has been proposed by several political parties but have not got majority in the parliament. The only thing that applies is that the employee needs to earn more than a certain amount. This will be heavily raised for next year to 27200 SEK / month, but I'm sure Chris makes more than so. Hope this helps going forward.

As a Brit living in Switzerland I had similar issues. That was before Switzerland signed up for EU free movement of workers/population and did also require the employer's need for skills be proven before a work permit was issued.
After first working for 18 months here my company's main project customer decided to call a halt. Therefore the company could no longer invoice the customer and needed to let the project team go and had ONE MONTH notice. I was on a yearly renewable work permit so scrambled to get employment through another local company. The new company had to effectively "take on" my work permit and do the admin in the background. Long story short - after 35 years I have married, had a family here, taken on citizenship, worked all my life and now retired. Yes it is a hiccup in the plan but with diligence and ensuring the admin is correct, your partner will get a new job (especially if he is highly skilled) and life in Sweden will go on.
And I must add, that, just as in Switzerland, *it is appreciated that you integrate in Swedish society speak the language and share Swedish values and behaviour*
Sweden has too many people who don't and only cost the state.

Hello! It's sad how it is right now for you. If you like Sweden and want to stay here, why not do what most Britons in Sweden did when the UK was about to leave the EU, they applied for Swedish citizenship. If there is no continued job for your partner, you can look up to Norrland, because up here there are jobs and they are looking for a lot of people with certain skills that are not found in Sweden. If your partner wants to work in the space industry, we have Esrange in Kiruna and several people from different countries work there. Then we have LKAB which is then a mining company and they are also looking for people and are a good company and I think that company is the most equal company in Sweden as both men and women have the same pay for the same work. A bit away from me one or most of them just from the UK, haven't seen them but in the yard outside the apartment building there is a British registered car and it has been there for 2-.3 years.

If his job disappears, so does the basis upon which his residency stands. In other words, he will lose his residency permit. If he wants to apply for a new work/residency permit, 'uppehållstillstånd', he will need to make the application from his 'home' country, i.e. the UK, I assume. The system is brutal, as it is in most European countries these days, like the UK. A very important question is what YOUR status is, i.e. did you apply for and get some kind of uppehållstillstånd? Yes, you can be here as an EU national, but you can reinforce your status here by getting some kind of Swedish residency status. As an EU citizen, you have the right to family, and the right to have your spouse and children with you, anywhere within the EU. That said, this is like reading the very small fine print on a label, you still need to jump through the bureaucratic hoops to exercise your rights. I have gone through this, in a way, as I had to wait almost a year before my wife and child could join me here... and I am Swedish.

Hi Uli. Its sad to hear, i hope it will turn to the better for all of you . Iv been in the same boat and its not fun. I wonder is he member in any union and what do they say. If he is not se so he get one always a union because of money. iI Sverige har vi arbetsförmedling, försäkringskassa och fackförening och de styr över reglerna när du blir arbetslös. Kj.

Literally just get married..... simple solution for all your problems. Get a divorce after 2-3 years when he gets permanent Swedish passport and residency if you don't want to be in married status after that.....
    Why complicate simple situations....

Definitely worth looking into. My husband is Belgian, so long as we met the required income to support ourselves I and my adult daughter are able to be residents. We've only been here almost two years though and I know the right to apply for citizenship saw the time a person is living in Sweden raised from, I think, four years.

Well the problem is that the LEFT and Liberalists in sweden is to blame 100%!
If the doors was a bit closed and we helped the people that needed help then this wouldn't happen. Now we are the whole world social office and that's not working in the long run!
It's just sad that people who works and do great thing is stuck in between ,Doesn't matter where they come from!
If someone follow the rules and add to society no one would say anything but that's far from reality right now!

Sorry?! More liberal rules would allow him to stay. The problem is caused by a combination of tougher immigration laws and Brexit.

Loosing a job is about company economy and these days it has a lot to do with rising interest rates and over all recession in the world. Not so much a right/left issue.
The problem for this family specifically is also about him not being a EU-citizen due to BREXIT which definitely was a RIGHT wing issue in UK.
And finally we have the increased demands on people living in Sweden without having Swedish citizenship, and those requirements are very much driven by the RIGHT wing in Sweden.
These new rules will be inforced wheter You are muslim or christian, black, brown or white and so on. It´s called DEMOCRACY.
So your crocodile-tears for this family and blaming the left and liberals is pure hypocricy.

i told u the day that u opened this channel, that sweds and sweden doesnt give a shit about people who work legally and pay taxes and obey by the rules, they gave permanent residencies and free housings for refugees that doesnt speak even english or want to find a job. why i left sweden is because i was working 2 jobs, and migrationsverket the immigration decided to not extend my residence permit cause i should have only one job witha salary of 13000 sek minimun instead of combining 2 jobs with 11 k each. so they basically kicked me out although i speak fluent swedish and was paying more taxes than most refugees. and u know what? its for the best, now im in another country where i earn less money, but the weather is warm, the food is delicious, and most importantly : the ppl are normal, they smile they talk they make jokes and they call you to check on you or to hang out. sweden offers you only depression, loneliness, and health and mental problems. and it will make your kids like robots with no family values . no one i knew in sweden was married or was still together with the mother of their kids. anyways if you still wanna live in that shitty country of sweden where nothing makes sense, my advice to you is that your husband can get a residence permit through you if you have one in sweden you simply apply for family reunification, but if you dont have that yourself, then you should check if your husband could get a german citizenship through you, which im pretty sure he can depending on how many years you been together and if you are married or not.

You need to scan the whole country for job in his field. Check North of Sweden also. Otherwise he can look for jobs in Norway. 😉🙏
