    Your video is extremely helpful. I replaced the blower motor thinking it was the problem (I’ve needed to replace it before when it stopped working, as I’m at 185K mis), but that did not fix it. I’ve also had water entering the cabin and found all drains clogged. I didn’t realize this could have affected the resistor. I have it on order for Wednesday and hopefully this fixes it. Thanks again for posting your process!

      did you see water on it? My front drains were clogged badly for a few months. I have a video on clearing them. FIrst time I did it. I put the plugs back in... bad move as the 2nd time of clogging was much more harsh on my electronics. I havent found where I have corroded connectors yet but its affecting the MMI. I already saved my MMI from the rear drains clogging but the fronts have negated that so far...

      @@bobspurloc I’ll have to check out your videos about clearing your drains to make sure I got them all, thanks. I did clear mine yesterday. I knew they’d be bad since I had some water on the floor and I go off-road each summer, but wow, was that more than I thought! The drain in the driver’s side front wheel well was the worst, and the two on each side of the bottom rail were completely covered. I did see some water drip from the housing next to the blower motor (firewall side where the flap door is located) but none in the blower itself. I don’t know for sure that water had caused the resistor to fail but the mention of your previous water problems made me wonder. I have not had any other electronic problems that I’m aware of. My windshield cleaner reservoir pump failed but I don’t see that being related. I did re-insert the drain plug on the passenger side wheel well since it wasn’t too bad, but left the driver’s side without it. A little was in the drain going into the condenser. I look forward to getting the resistor tomorrow and hope to see it solve the problem. It’s from an Amazon seller that states it’s a “used-very good” condition part, that the packaging may be damaged but fully working, so I hope that’s the case! I’m in 100 degree weather and not having a/c is awful! Cross your fingers for me! I definitely love my Touareg and have taken care of it for over ten years, but am thinking it may be time to get a new car with this one getting up there in mileage. That why I didn’t spend $100 on the resistor. But we’ll see! Thanks again for your videos and reply!

      I hope you repaired the upper drains in the back. back right wall area. the dummies have the down connector glued to the outside of the down rubber tube. so after around 8+ years that glue starts letting go and every time it rains etc water starts dripping onto the bose amp, the DVD navigation drive, cell phone box etc all the MMI electronics are there just getting dripped on. as for your front drains. pull out that plug its not needed! gallons of water collect in there! front drain waterfall! ruclips.net/video/ddcZmOWbPgE/видео.html my junky rear drain fix I kinda just show how to fix not how to get to it lol. ruclips.net/video/SPrD9Jfqy_s/видео.html

    • @bobspurloc

      you can't see them because they are above the head liner. So get to them you have to dismantle the surrounding areas of the back. the lower metal going across the back area when the hatch opens. you need to loosen both sides in the rear. u need to also loosen the mid area inside rear doors. I think I showed that in the video. also in the back when taking off the hooks on each side be careful not to drop a screw through the hole as your chances to retrieve them will be slim LOL... as they will fall into an inaccessible area... you then need to lower the rear top headliner. when I did it i pulled it down slightly just enough to not make it bend. if u bend it good luck not making it hang when u put it back lol... fixing those upper tubes is vital to the life of the car... pull out your spare tire. if u see any signs of water fix the tubes asap as the MMI etc days are numbered if u dont fix it. VW/Audi should have done a recall on this. but instead they charge people $1k+ to replace the bose amp blaming the customer for this poor design.

      fun fact... due to a manufacture idiotic design I covered in another video if u force anything down roof drains of an audi/vw u r at a high risk of causing the upper couplings to leak down the outside of the tubes, this risk gets exponentially worse over time as the glue deteriorates... this risk would be ZERO if some dope had just asked anyone if it made sense to not funnel water into a down tube instead of funnel it to the outside... plumbing 101 fail.

      I think I show in this video testing the blower mother so you can know its the resistor. resistor is pretty easy to replace

    • @blueshark928
      @blueshark928 2 года назад

      @@bobspurloc It does look easy. I did the blower motor the hard way, by not removing the glovebox. I don't think that will fly on the resistor. Maybe I should make a Touareg specific video and post it if it works out. Not much out there for Touaregs on these esoteric, pain in the tuchus issues.

    I guess the only way to tell if its the motor or the resistor is to test it?

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  4 месяца назад

      yeah I tested it I forget if its this video or not. my motor was fine resistor was bad. and to note the blower off amazon appeared to work but was total junk to the OEM spinning way slower at max speed.

  • @liorweisspi
    @liorweisspi 10 месяцев назад

    Hi. May I ask what was your symptom? my motor is working perfect (fast and quiet) and goes out 10 seconds after, coming back 3 min later for 10 seconds and so on.. so I don't know if resistor is an all or nothing kind of a part.

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  10 месяцев назад

      resistor is for changing speeds. directly connect 12v to motor and see if it acts the same. if so its the motor. also FYI... I got a motor off amazon and it spun at a way less RPM than OEM so I returned it. make sure your filter isnt clogged also

    Hey Bob, thanks for your videos. Do you think its the resistor if the blower is running but at low speeds even though cranked to max without recirculation turned on and when recirculation is on its actually working? Its an Audi A5 2018 Sportback 2.0 TDI

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  2 года назад

      unsure. did you check your filter? I dont know if recirc bypasses the filter, but if it does then I would guess its clogged? but I dont know if you mean low speed as low speed of air out or u hear the motor spinning slower. sort of sounds like a need to check with vcds as to what speed is actually being asked for.... otherwise I was check if your air filter is totally clogged

    • @MathiasBojda
      @MathiasBojda 2 года назад

      @@bobspurloc Hey Bob, thanks for the reply. Havent checked the filter, will do that. The air out is slower and it sounds like the motor is spinning slower as well, like it doesnt get up to full RPM or something. Its cold here and i noticed because it wouldnt clear the condensation of the windshield on the driver side. Then i tried to turn the recirculation on and it was blowing at full speed again and cleared the condensation right up.

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  2 года назад

      sounds like a really odd one to me. I dont believe that can be the resistor since its controlling the motors speed in the other setting. I'de check the filter, but I think the motor would still spin faster if it was clogged or not. it may be something else. i'de leave it on recirculation who needs outside air anyway ;)

    • @MathiasBojda

      @@bobspurloc Hey thanks for the reply yet again, wanted to give an update. I bought a new filter. Wasnt that. It worked without the filter, but i assume this is because its then getting they air from inside. I then got on my back and looked through the filter housing and could see that the vent or "gates" that i guess are supposed to open to pull in air from outside is closed shut. The vent that open and shuts when you turn on recirculation is working, tho. So i dont expect it would be a fuse? So i assume it might be a seized actuator, or something is holding the vent shut. I tried to push the vent with my hand, but couldnt really move the vent much, i assume its because the motor in the actuator is holding it shut.

    • @MathiasBojda

      Final update, i fixed it by tapping the blend door actuator lightly with the handle of a screwdriver, guess it got stuck somehow, the blend door to the engine bay now opens as the recirculation doors closes and visa versa :-) - Thanks for your input!

    My '09 Taureg TDI is acting wierd. When I turn the vehicle off, the a/c fan keeps running, I have to yank the 40 amp fuse on left side of driver to stop it. Is that the resistor going bad? This did have sunroof issues with previous owner, and the condensation line was clogged and cold water coming into cabin on my feet...I fixed that, just need to get this stupid fan to stop...any ideas? Thanks!

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  3 года назад +1

      yeah that can be the resistor. did you ever unclog your front drains? get rid of the damn plugs on both sides... that will also cause water to get into the wire connectors etc... knocking out the MMI etc... also the rear roof drains need to be fixed asap or you are going to lose the bose amp

    • @carlosreyes3620

      I saw it ended up being your ac resistor in the end and you put back your original fan.
      Was your ac compressor kicking on when you would turn on your ac?
      My front blowers motor doesn't turn on, the rears do, but ac compressor won't kick on.. in the past, when this has happened, its been due to a burnt blower motor/resistor that's why I was asking if your ac would kick on even tho tho resistor wasn't working.

    • @bobspurloc
      @bobspurloc  3 года назад +1

      ah ok. so I never checked the rear. but when I was doing my tests, I saw the 12v hit the fan then go away. this seemed like the ECM detected something wrong and cut the power. I see the ECM does this for things. so I was thinking the fan was drawing too much power. replacing the resistor appeared to fix the issue. so if im right the ECM cut the power, its also possible it cuts the power to the AC compressor. I mean it may make sense why turn on the ac compressor if the fan cant spin? this is just a guess

No fan on front, no ac compressor kicking on, and rear blows but hot no ac compressor on... im hoping it's that. It was soooo cheap on amazing I also ordered resistor/blower, figured if I'm gonna go thru the trouble to get under the dash I'll replace it and if neither works then it's compressor for sure.
