I've added self tappers to my tires decades ago at 10 years old to race on the ice in a modified 3 wheel trike I made and nobody could get around that winter but me so I used my creativity to supply my neighbors with groceries and necessities they could not obtain due to the ice. My legs were jello after that. Felt so good to be able to help everyone. Just because it sounds stupid doesn't mean it is. Invention starts with stupid

A long time ago, I had a 1987 Dodge Shadow Turbo 5 speed, and drove it through deep snow and slush on totally bald Goodyear Eagle VR 50's. If I even looked to the side, the car went in that direction....so focusing on the intended direction keep the car on track. Thank you for a very infotaining video guys!

Reminds me about the "socks" that's sold as an alternative to chains. You put them on much the same way but instead of chains they have some sort of fabric with metal threads that is supposed to hold them together and aid with the traction. The positive thing is they are not damaging to pavement so you can get on a road with them. The negative is that they wear down fast. I saw a test that showed that they do actually work better than normal winter tires without dubs. But they are not as efficient as real snow chains.
One thing you didn't mention about snow chains is that they tend to be unsafe as speed increases. Generally you are not supposed to drive faster than 30 kph or about 20 mph so even it they are legal to use you wouldn't want to on a regular street.
There's also some weird metal clamps you can attach to the wheels. These are generally more expensive than snow chains and is supposed to be easier to attach. Just unfold them and thread them over the tire before letting the springs tighten it down. I have never used these but I can't say they seem all that good. The only parts making contact with the road is the four parts that form the hocks that is clamping down on the tire. It might make a difference for thick snow, but I doubt it will be anywhere near as effective as regular snow chains.
Now what should be interesting is seeing tires used for ice tracing. The spikes on those are insane.

My guess is it will decrease traction because each tyre will have half the weight to pack/compact the snow, making the snow less hard in the threads. But i would like to see that to verify.

    • @jugganaut33

😮I've seen someone use solid copper wire used in home construction and he weaves it around the tire in a braided type of fashion until he had a raised line in a hex pattern I've seen someone take fencing and wrap the tire and using those tension bolt thing that has standard threads on one side and reverse thread on the other to secure it. I've seen someone take small tree trunks and fashion a sudo locomotive wheel coupler using rope to connect the front wheels to the rear wheels to make a two wheel drive into a temporary 4 wheel drive vehicle. He attached the rope through the spokes and the tree spanned from the middle of the front rim to the rear of the back wheel. I've seen someone take one of those rubber anti back pain floor mats and cut one into 4 sections and then using a bungee cord attach them to the outside of the tire. That one was not so effective. I've seen memory foam laid down in front of the stuck car in mud and that surprisingly worked what else... Ohh deflating all the tires to 3psi and that worked. Bad for your tires. Umm I've also seen over inflating them work... Just rope works depending on what pattern you use. A spiral pattern running the rope around the wheel through the spokes and around the tire can have decent results. I've seen someone take the tire off of the rim run short screws through the inside of the tire towards the tread of the tire just barely sticking out of the tread. Hundreds of them per tire then they used a tube to inflate the tires ... I've wondered if you could request from a tire manufacturer if they would be willing to embed semi course silica into the tread during the manufacturing process.

The cream “should” provide sufficient lubrication for the engine. If it’s cold enough outside, the cream may churn into butter 🧈.

How about how much faster a car can accelerate by taking stuff off! Start if with like windows and hoods then move on too cutting stuff off till left with just enough metal to support the suspension, drivetrain, and driver.

How about a V8, one bank runs like a 4cyl, the other bank is air compressor, and you put an air motor on the differential to make the car move vs using a transmission

i am betting had you applied some strong rubber cement to keep the belts from coming off it would have no problem on that hill you just lost to many belts i would also think tiny screws would leave very tiny holes in the road way not enough to damage it but then hell all roads need repaving now and then creates jobs they do this all the time in the Philippines all joking aside

rivets them to the tire with an innertube so no air leaks might work but it''ll never be long term solution the teeth of the treads will wear out fast

I would love to see you do an example of completely bald tires compared to new treaded tires on Bear ice I have always believed that a completely bald and smooth tire just like a drag slick gets more traction on Bear ice than a shredded tire because it has more surface coverage and I truly believe that I have run bald tires on rear wheel drive vehicles in the snow many times I think they may even be better than they shredded tire in the snow because they don't want to dig a hole I would really like to see some actual scientific proof because I believe there is
