In the 70's had a wire controlled Chieftain tank, must have been Tamiya. I know i replaced the hand grabs with staples and painted paper tissue the barrel, held with black electrical tape straps..
I've just built mengs new Chieftain mk10 it's a massive improvement over Takoms Chieftains! Just falls together like a well detailed Tamiya kit! I've not had 1 single fit issue anywhere to my surprise! Definitely ordering a second to do in the Green as away to start the Headache of the Berlin camo today! You think them bussle bins were tricky these were very tricky you need 3 hand hands lol! They have mesh PE for the floor and side's but come with guide Jigs to bend them to shape thank god! Really recommend!
I never built a Meng or Takom kit before, sounds much more advanced and detailed then Tamiya! thank you for the comment maybe I will look for a model from this brand.

Curious about this kit. I have one and I've read that it's actually a Mark 3 not a Mark 5. Can anyone confirm this? Also, I'm adding nylon mesh screening to the bottoms and sides of the stowage bins. That's an interesting addition.
@@JohnJRambo-zi5fi Yes, that nylon mesh was/is common with a lot of Tamiya kits especially the earlier releases. It was nice back in the day to have that option. Also, back in the day Tamiya was one of a very few companies that offered figures and/or accessories in their kits even if the details on the figures was pretty basic and the figures scaled up to be about 5'2" or 5'4" that is Japanese size. I had ordered an Eduard Chieftain PE set not realizing that the place I ordered it from was in the Ukraine. I was quite pleased a couple of weeks ago when that set arrived. It has t he mesh screens for all of the stowage bins.
Hey I'm wanting to just get into the hobby and I'm thinking of getting the chieftain as a 2nd or 3rd model to do and do a m48 first. Any tips for the hobby?
My tip is to just enjoy, take your time and build the models how you like them. You already selected some great kits, the M48 is a good one to start with! This is a good hobby to get into, not very expensive and will provide years of enjoyment!
What i do like with these models are the details.

Seemed quite a big tank.......or i was small, i think later!
Nice build! Thanks for sharing it.
Thank you very much!

@@seeds4hobbies why do the coveralls in gloss when matt black would have been better
@@petertripp3153 Matt black would be better! Great advice! I only had semi gloss available at the time.

Nice!
question:is the tamiya cement included in the box?
It is not included, you will have to buy it separately.
what cement do you recommend for the model chieftain mk5?
@@rosallygallano5288 my favorite is tamiya cement, it is the only one I use.
what tool do you use for the tracks?

I am not sure whether it is a mark 3 and mark 5 but from my knowledge the only real difference is the engine.
