  • Model Kit Build of the British Army Chieftain Mk.5 Main Battle Tank in 1/35 scale.
    Model kit is from Tamiya.
    Assembly and painting of the whole model kit. Typical Tamiya quality that fits perfectly and is very easy to build.
    I am just a casual hobbyist who loves assembling model kits

    What i do like with these models are the details.

      In the 70's had a wire controlled Chieftain tank, must have been Tamiya. I know i replaced the hand grabs with staples and painted paper tissue the barrel, held with black electrical tape straps..

      Seemed quite a big tank.......or i was small, i think later!

    I've just built mengs new Chieftain mk10 it's a massive improvement over Takoms Chieftains! Just falls together like a well detailed Tamiya kit! I've not had 1 single fit issue anywhere to my surprise! Definitely ordering a second to do in the Green as away to start the Headache of the Berlin camo today! You think them bussle bins were tricky these were very tricky you need 3 hand hands lol! They have mesh PE for the floor and side's but come with guide Jigs to bend them to shape thank god! Really recommend!

      I never built a Meng or Takom kit before, sounds much more advanced and detailed then Tamiya! thank you for the comment maybe I will look for a model from this brand.

    Hey I'm wanting to just get into the hobby and I'm thinking of getting the chieftain as a 2nd or 3rd model to do and do a m48 first. Any tips for the hobby?

    • @seeds4hobbies
      @seeds4hobbies  2 года назад +1

      My tip is to just enjoy, take your time and build the models how you like them. You already selected some great kits, the M48 is a good one to start with! This is a good hobby to get into, not very expensive and will provide years of enjoyment!

      @@petertripp3153 Perhaps, it maybe the fact that it's his build and NOT yours. Fantastic job , very talented chap taking time out of his busy day to post his project which doing so certainly helps others . Posting videos can be very daunting and hard for people to do ,......why ? ....... YOU ! Is the simple answer. Picking at someone's project as something you've seen on there doesn't suit YOU. You crumble other people's enthusiasm and enjoyment they have for our Hobby and quite often, Embarrasses them. You are what's wrong with our hobby ... RIVET COUNTERS ! You think the world Owes you something that gives you the god given right to do your RIVET COUNTING.
      I know this is beyond you but how about supporting , and giving people a boost for a change. Just a thought.
      It's good to see you have your priorities all sorted. I mean its not as though we've been hit hard with a Virus that has killed many or countries are being invaded by Evil dictators etc etc is it ?? ..........Oh, wait a minute !!!!You just make sure you keep your pathetic RIVET COUNTING going. Curious about this kit. I have one and I've read that it's actually a Mark 3 not a Mark 5. Can anyone confirm this?
    Also, I'm adding nylon mesh screening to the bottoms and sides of the stowage bins. That's an interesting addition.

    • @JohnJRambo-zi5fi
      @JohnJRambo-zi5fi 2 года назад

      that mesh is common with these tamiya kits of non ww2 tanks the m60 with era i built had it now im building one of these

    • @sirridesalot6652
      @sirridesalot6652 2 года назад

      @@JohnJRambo-zi5fi Yes, that nylon mesh was/is common with a lot of Tamiya kits especially the earlier releases. It was nice back in the day to have that option. Also, back in the day Tamiya was one of a very few companies that offered figures and/or accessories in their kits even if the details on the figures was pretty basic and the figures scaled up to be about 5'2" or 5'4" that is Japanese size.
      I had ordered an Eduard Chieftain PE set not realizing that the place I ordered it from was in the Ukraine. I was quite pleased a couple of weeks ago when that set arrived. It has t he mesh screens for all of the stowage bins.

      I am not sure whether it is a mark 3 and mark 5 but from my knowledge the only real difference is the engine.

    Try putting decals first, then make your model look dirty.
