Oh that makes sense! I figured it looks very YOU, but a few must have been thrown in to appeal to a wide audience. Congrats on the collection friend! ❤️
@@Nick_Lewis Loved this video and love Arvin’s collection. Additionally, thanks for introducing me to Buster & Punch, Nick. I have a feeling it will be out of my price sphere, but hey, now I have some eye candy to explore!
I am a French architect who has worked upon various restoration projects within the Palace of Versailles. Our company specialises in conservation, restoration and refurbishment of stately homes, château and other buildings of note, including churches, throughout France. We often work with clients who want their château homes to 'be' Versailles and at times this can be difficult, extremely difficult 😅. Yet from now on when confronted with difficult clients, I am going to simply quote Nick Lewis - "It's not Versailles, calm down." 😂
I'm going to be honest, I hate the Versailles style. I appreciate it for its historical context, but that's about it. I wouldn't want it in my home. It's wayy too much
My 90 year old mother lived two doors down from the Property Brothers, Nick! In her head, only, unfortunately. She loved them, and in her dementia, they were neighbors and friends who partied together on the regular. Oh, that relationship brought a smile to her face.
That is so sweet. When daddy had dementia he didn't want to even go outside. He loved watching the weather channel. That is a great story about your mom
Please do more of these. It doesn't really matter to me what collabs you cover, I just thoroughly enjoy your sense of humor and how you present things. Seeing a new video from you makes me happy.
Jungalow did a collab with Opal House via Target as well. Maybe a whole other show could be high end designers collabing with more accessible price point brands to bring a designer aesthetic/more unique point of view to a wider range of people. I know, at least at my local Targets, (there are something like 14 within an hour of me), the Chip and Joanna stuff is piling up and actually being discounted, with the exception of the occasional piece they release in a gold option that has universal lines an could fit any aesthetic while the Jungalow collab sold before it hit the shelves it seems like. I went in to store just days after release and the aisles were empty, things were sold out online, it was bananas. All that was left were more simple, staple pieces like the wicker waste basket, a few wicker storage pieces, and I found the one shower curtain I wanted because it wasn't in the Jungalow feature area but with the rest of the normal shower curtain stuff, so, I'm happy. (It has jungle foliage and red & orange tropical birds on it. You definitely wouldn't approve LoL) But DANG. I think it speaks volumes. People want color. People want interesting patterns. People want whimsy back in their lives.
I love the Target Jungalow stuff! I enjoy Targets Opalhouse Collab in general too. I have a beautiful Persian style teal wool rug from them, it's about 5 yrs old now and still looks amazing. Brings my living room to life! It's really quality stuff for an affordable price point.
@@dfinite1111 well, considering the success of Ms Blankenly’s brand, the rest of the world would beg to differ. She has a point of view different from yours, doesn’t mean she lacks talent.
I think people want more colors, patterns, whimsy as you said because the economy is so bleek for so many. People want to at least feel cheery at home while they put their $7 for dozen of eggs away.
I do love Arvin's rugs. They are very much his style. My only minor criticism, this goes for some of the other collaborations on here, is that I've seen many of the exact rugs on other sites.
the Athena collection is very niche. the colin collection is very similar, the Beni rug style is very distinctive. kelly clark son is all over the place, no good place. Arvin, yes it is very mostly Arvin, and rugs usa has every type of rug. wasn’t clear some were the actual collection some were just recommended. the property brothers are i’m sorry tasteless, toward ugly.
CB2 is another level. it’s their expensive answer to Target’s Jungalow. SJP please stick to shoes. travis Barker. hmmmm. kardashian husband. questionable taste. somewhere there’s some wealthy person who loves skull drawer pulls. ??
That's exactly how I feel. I love color and pattern too much to really vibe with Arvin's style but I respect his choices and he's a great personality. He gives Rugs USA exactly the cachet they were probably looking for. That's the thing with someone like Kelly Clarkson & Wayfair; they're looking for the broadest possible audience and she's a good match for that. People feel like they know her and have watched her grow up and relate to her.
I don't know what's dryer, Nick's witty takedowns of these collaborations, or that giant bowl of saltines at 12:05 from the Property Brother's collection
What a fun subject! Yes, do more! Lenny Kravitz is the COOLIST person alive, so not surprised his collection ties into that. So effortlessly cool. I've seen so many lamps shaped like the Buster & Punch lamp. Already tired of it.
The Beni rugs were great. I am not a grey couch sort of person, so the jewel colors, especially the purple, are done very well. So, different strokes for different folks.
Totally with ya on the Wayfair collapse. It's obvious it's about selling the name. Love Lenny and Arvin. Even Lenny's looks like it's staged at his home. Spotted the painting of his mom, actress Roxy Roker. She was a trailblazer as much as her son. On The Jefferson's she was on half of the first interracial couple put on TV. Very beautiful woman.
I really don't care if a collection comes attached to a celebrity name. I don't endorse no one but if I were to pick one i would choose Kravitz's because it is the most creative of the bunch.
I don't decorate, redecorate, or style my house (I would love to but...) but I love love your ideas and your videos. More than anything, I love your sense of humour. You're dry, sarcastic, sassy, witty, sharp....all of it. You make me laugh, so thank you. XX
Great video Nick! would love to see more like this. Just FIY - Lenny Kravitz is an interior designer and has his own brand (called Kravitz Design) for 20 years now. His collection with CB2 is to die for! And he's got a great style in general, full of character and soul.
Another fun and insightful Saturday morning coffee with Nick. Fair, funny and right on. I remember the first CB2 catalog featuring Lenny's collection--WOW!
I loved this concept of video. You could do an entire video on just Loiloi Rug collaborations! Btw, Blink 182 is touring this year, they'll be in Toronto in May.
I love this video! There are so many of these collabs out there that I just don't get so I tend to just wave them off as... inauthentic and just vanity pieces. Seeing you discuss how they can be done so well, as well as what it is that turns me off about them, was a new perspective and I appreciate that! I hope we get to see a Nick Lewis collection sometime soon. My suggestion: beautiful and interesting ceiling fans that can work as a design element in their own right instead of something we have to figure out how to wedge in and just live with. (As a southerner who loves design... the struggle is real.)
Travis Barker is part of the Kardashian family now so he'll probably be doing many fashion and design collabs now. Lenny Kravitz is amazing. He started doing design collabs after his acting role as a designer in The Hunger Games. His daughter, Zoe Kravitz, is starting to do collabs with jewellery brands.
Ha! Was so glad y’all called this one out…like so much, DOLLY DIDS IT first! “It’s expensive to look, THHHHHHIS CHEAP”. Never a truer word spoken but tacky / camp / extraAF aesthetics have potential to be “SO WRONG, IT’S RIGHT” - dolly is the queen. She nails it.
SJP wallpaper - yes. Juvenile was the word I was looking for. If I was 8, pink metallic mermaid tail scales might be to die for. Nothing there for adult me. I'll stick to classics like Sanderson.....or find a great take on a classic design on spoonflower.
video idea - how about a 'bang for your buck' series (please name it differently this was just my brainstorming) but in this series each video could orientate itself around like as aspect of home design e.g. hardware, rugs, lights etc. and you could explore different price points from unique brands, share your 5 cents and tier them. I think this would educate us in learning more about brands and the different price points out there. I think this idea would go well with your community because while we all like high end stuff we cant all afford it but also dont want ikea or homesense... and just like your fable collab... its the perfect way of showing us that sweet spot..
This was such a cool video! Rank tiers are fun haha and we need more of them in the terror design community here on RUclips! Also yes please- do all of target collaborations/ collections! From threshold to jungalow and the farmhouse lady! And their other collections like Project 62! Could be fun! I mean whatever video you will make will be very fun to watch either way because the secret ingredient really is you! :D
My personal favorite is Drew from Lone Fox - he is so unique and in a class by himself. Yes, I would like to see you do more of these critiques - always good to get an interesting perspective. Thanks, Nick.
Love the Beni rugs. I got my love and appreciation for rugs by working for a rug company at the Merchandise Mart in Chicago. Your critique of the wayfair's are spot on.
Ha Nick! Agree with you on the Kelly collaboration, and pretty much everything else. A friend of mine saw the Property Brothers at an airport, she said they were VERY tall!
Had no idea this is how collaborations work, so that was interesting. What was more interesting is that Bed Bath and Beyond is closing so many stores. Two of the largest ones in my area in Illinois, Gurnee Mills and Schaumburg. Makes sense though since I almost never go inside a store anymore. I wonder what the "shopping" landscape will look like 20 years from now.
Just as I don't go to athletes for their opinions on politics and current events, I don't go to singers, actors, and property developers for interior design.
I would be curious to see your opinions on the Opalhouse Target collab with Justina Blankeney. Also your opinions on some of the new & classic IKEA collections (even though they aren’t collabs)!
Lenny Kravitz, SJP, and Travis Barker are the only ones to have interesting collections IMO. Everything else looked like stuff already out on the market. I know you really look up to Arvin and some of the others, but.. it's all been done, for less, by others. 😅 Not saying they weren't done well, but I feel like Lenny, Sarah, and Travis all brought something new to the table that we haven't seen before/don't see often enough. I'd really LOVE to see you do this again, but discuss it more from the aspect of "is this bringing something new to the table" and "is this making a clear statement that is speaking above everything else already out there." I think that would compel a deeper discussion on design and the concept that collabs could have a greater purpose than being a money grab/acting as merch for a celebrity and instead, be a way to hear a wider variety of voices. my TLDR side notes below. SJP has 3 kids, including twin 13yo daughters, so I think it makes sense that a collection of wallpapers from her would have wallpapers that 13yo girls would love. In fact, I can't help but wonder if some of them are directly inspired by things her daughters might have done... like the very clearly inspired by painters tape and washi tape wallpapers. The prices make me gag, not gonna lie. But I'm not at all surprised by wallpapers that would look amazing in boudoirs/dressing rooms, dining rooms, nurseries, and child/teen rooms. And that wasn't chainmail, that was chicken wire and if it weren't for the prices, I know SO MANY chicken parents who would probably put that up in their mud room as a cheeky nod to all the egg sorting they do in said space. I think the collection could have been more curated. I don't think the dots or the gingham were necessary and the bells and laundryline were weird... but the tape aesthetic plaid, the ribbon look ric rac, the chicken wire, the GIANT scale florals... those are ALL AMAZING! You can get ric rac look and plaid look wallpapers in similarly graphic look and bright colors, but none of them have that texture to them. They've all clearly been doodled on a tablet with your bog standard rounded brush. There's actually some very cool attention to detail in those designs. Also, 10/10 would put the tape plaid or ric rac on my feature wall on my office. I know you're not a fan of feature walls, but its floor to ceiling, wall mounted shelving. It's cool AF. But again, that price is GAG. But like, if you want peel and stick wallpaper, go to Spoonflower (currently shopping for my feature wall actually). You can directly support the designers who made the designs that way and spend less and have a product made in the US. And you can get that pattern you fall for likely in numerous things... everything from fabric to curtains to pillows to wallpaper. Most importantly, you can order samples to make sure its the quality, colors, and texture you want. The Travis Barker collection makes sense. Makes SO MUCH SENSE. The prices are gag though. All the "forever halloween/forever goth" peeps I know are more likely to go to Michaels and do a DIY for their skulls. BUT, that said, high end goth... high end biker... you don't see it. So.. on that note alone, SO COOL TO SEE!
I thought the same thing when he said chain mail and I just immediately thought nope that's chicken wire, so in this case living in the country served a purpose albeit a pointless purpose haha😂
I am not a decorator at all. Sometimes things confuse me when it comes to decor, but I will say that you explain things so well that I feel like I get it!!!! Thank you for making it so much easier to get!!!
🥰😆 You are the greatest!! I love you even more because you had NO idea who Travis Barker is! 😂 You are so much fun to watch - honest, funny, and SO spot-on! My absolute favorite is when you see something you don’t like - hysterical. 😂
NEXT: Can you please consider doing a video on tile. How to make a room bigger, smaller, more impactful, more subtle, timeless, etc. Best places to get artisan tiles? Is tile or interior brick trending going forward? Tile patterns that work best for specific rooms, tile sizes that work best for average spaces, etc. which type of tile or what texture or pattern pose the greatest challenges for cleaning & maintenance? I’m pretty sick of seeing everybody do white subway everywhere so if you could suggest colors that will stand the test of time, I’d appreciate that too! Thanks
Nick this was such a fun video! Thank you so much. The most successful collab is with Lenny Kravitz and CB2. It feels so CB2-cool but dark and sexy like the man himself.
I’ve been avoiding this video (clearly unsuccessfully!) and am pleasantly surprised by the content. Interesting to see how people collaborate, whether successful or not. Thanks for making it and yes, make some more (but not at the expense of your other great videos) please 😊
I'm gonna have to find some dupes or cheaper adjacent pieces to Lenny's since I don't have CB2 pockets...but that style collab is beautiful! Maybe I'll get a few of his pillows. I've been struggling to find couch pillows that will fit my industrial-esque decor style that I'm feebly trying to pull off and those pillows will help go a long way towards that. Edit: A single pillow is between $60-$70 😱💸
I agree with all your ratings except the Arvin Arlano rugs. They all seem basic and I feel like I have seen them before. Nothing strikes me as unique or different or that I couldn't find in any big box store.
I'd love to see a video featuring hardware etc similar to Buster and Punch, but minus the skulls. It's very analog yet feels modern. What would be searchable words for that style? It's not just mid-century modern, it has a industrial feel too? Lots to explore there, imo
A video on hardware, especially sourcing, would be very welcome! Especially an expose on hardware ripoffs ... there's no way a, outlet cover plate could cost so much to make that a $50+ price makes sense. [Well, maybe gold plated with diamonds.] I would love sources of well-designed hardware that won't break the bank.
i liked the strength and craftsmanship of the travis barker collection but no skulls for me. 2 good places for hardware are restoration hardware (amazing customer service, too) and top knobs, which carries all price points. also check rejuvenation hardware.
@@MsAnneofgreengables Restoration is a ripoff ... a very simple robe hook in basic chrome costs $60. I like Rejuvenation, they're more my style, also expensive but they seem worth it. I'll look at Top Knobs.
Thank you Nick!!!! Love this video and yes I worked with the brand to make sure there’s something for everyone in this first collection 😍🙌🏼

How did you think they worked?
@@alicejade3657 I suppose I never thought about it much at all 😁
This was fun! I would love another video, maybe one with a mass market box store collabs theme??
Your subtle shadiness is my favorite 🤣
Another fun video! Yes, please do more collabs! I was looking for Studio McGee and Joanna Gaines...
Cant wait for the Nick Lewis Home Design Collab x)
Just as I don't go to athletes for their opinions on politics and current events, I don't go to singers, actors, and property developers for interior design.
YES !!!
Totally!
“It’s not Versailles,calm down “😂 love you nick❤
Love to see a video on some of the new Ikea collabs
Thanks
I watched an AD tour of Travis Barker’s home and the decor was surprisingly impressive
This was fun! I liked this style of video and would be interested in seeing more😊
I love starting my Sunday morning with coffee and Nick’s new video here is Aus. ❤
Nick this was such a fun video! Thank you so much. The most successful collab is with Lenny Kravitz and CB2. It feels so CB2-cool but dark and sexy like the man himself.
Scott living is also sold in Costco, and their bedding is not bad tbh
I'll have to check out Arvin's collection -I bought that exact diamond jute rug (on Wayfair) and I love it!
Edit: A single pillow is between $60-$70 😱💸
Time to do a Google reverse search and find similar items.
I learn a lot watching your videos + really enjoy your comments :) This was a fun video:)
Fun video Nick, looking forward to the next one, I'm not really into who any of the big name celebrities are, so no help to you figuring who's next.
Just want to thank you for acknowledging African home decor... One of the most beautiful decor styles there is. 🤎
This was fun and the Kravitz collection was by far the best, loved it!
Kelly has always said she had no style. She has people for that. 🤣🤣
Oh now this was fun! Loved this video so much! My favorite collab was Arvin's, with Lenny a close 2nd.
that Lenny Kravitz is so cool,I am cottage core and this is beautiful
thanks for introduction of Athena Calderone and Colin King , i like they style !
I agree with all your ratings except the Arvin Arlano rugs. They all seem basic and I feel like I have seen them before. Nothing strikes me as unique or different or that I couldn't find in any big box store.
Someone commented that they got the same exact diamond patterned jute rug from Wayfair, so, like you said, not very innovative on his part.
We still have a Bed Bath and Beyond. If it's on its way out I need to go check so I can grab some bedding sets on sale!
Great job, Nick! More, please. Your sense of humour and delivery are awesome.
New Jersey in the house. Yes we had Linens n Things lol. I also remember Lechters. Everything I mean everything for the kitchen. Love ya Nick !!
Totally agree with the Kravitz collaboration. Very fine stuff.
What would a PRETTY WOMAN collection look like for you? No 'BIG MISTAKES' ???
I thought you were gonna rank celebrity homes, but this is good as well :) Maybe for another video?
Buster and Punch's collection created the genre of "Millionaire Metal."
You should do a collab of beautiful but affordable pieces
collabs between Crate and Barrell and Leanne Ford, Jake Arnold, Athena Calderone please
Love this guy. I agree with about 99% of every opinion he's got. Be fun to sit and have coffee with him and just enjoy.
Perfect way to start a Monday...Dishin' the dirt with our fav designer 😍
This is probably beneath you but i would love a ruggable tier list, or at least ruggable designer tier list. It would make me so so happy Mr. Lewis!
I have reached such an advanced age, I have never heard of most of these celebrities but I agree with you on their "designs".
Love Arvin Alano. Lenny Kravitz collection is stunning and very curated!
Poor Kelly 😂 some of SJP's wallpapers look like something you'd see in the Sims
I like how Nick scratches his tummy talking about the wallpapers😊
Lenny fan here! Love his music, love his home in Brazil, love his taste and style! He is a renaissance man…
Omg! I got a Kelly Clarkson x Wayfair ad in the middle of the video! 😂😂😂
