Are we not going to talk about how the gallery wall is shaped like a UFO?? And that it’s positioned over the bed?! I love the subtlety, quirkiness, and humour that’s been infused in this space. Well done, Jane 👏🏻
@4:13 i would bring the chairs in, and out the ottoman along that wall where the chairs currently reside, and then bring in a coffee table where the ottoman is

This. I loved it too, but those light were hideous. Also, lightening the wall colour would also make it look more modern, but if the lights were better, maybe not necessary.
Yes! The mirror was the best thing in the room! So unique and pretty. I would maybe ditch the prints on the wall & change the light fixture but keep that cool mirror.
I would go whole-hog and put ship lights in there - the kind with the cage around them. But I never claimed to have great taste. Keep the octopus mirror.
I'm not into UFOs but that was the classiest take on UFOs that I've ever seen! I liked the cow rug because many times when people feel they've spotted one it's often in a farming area, I also like the chair bottom left corner because it's kind of shaped like a spaceship and the legs are landing gear. I agree if the gallery wall was spaced out a bit more and a couple things edited to another wall or room then you could focus on the peices more.
I would love if you had an episode of this series for apartments. Some people have gorgeous homes but designing similar spaces with less creative control is a real art.
I agree! I see a lot of design advice I see includes painting walls a different color which you can't do in a rental! There are exceptions, of course, but I personally find this to be such a challenge.
I thought that Jane's room was sort of cute 💕 and I loved the plants and the cow rug. As a minimalist, totally not my style, but I appreciate the love that she put into that space.
Something Nick said in his maximalism video is that maximalist themed rooms should tell a story, and my story is that I really, REALLY love UFOs! But also I wouldn't want to live in some tacky kid's bedroom/blacklight bowling alley looking UFO themed room so, there's a balance. It's actually not just my bedroom though, unfortunately my entire apartment is UFO themed.
Whenever people talk about moderation & editing, my mind flashes to Amy Sedaris' utterly bonkers NYC apartment. Every square inch is bursting with color, texture, fabric, objects, art, and her many, many, collections. It's like living in an older relative's jewelry box.
11:13 I like how Jane's theme room doesn't incorporate the theme in permanent ways. There's no UFO themed wall mural; there's no ceiling light fixture shaped like a UFO. All of it is done in a way that, if she ever decides she's tired of the theme, she can move on from it without it being a renovation project. Also appreciate how it looks like the UFO theme was chosen to create some kind of character for a very obvious plant obsession. Great way to make normally ugly out-of-place grow lights feel like a part of the space.
UFOs and cows are inseparably linked! In the 1970s there was quite a scandal with rural farmers thinking their cows were being abducted and experimented on. It's worth looking up, but I have to warn you that doing that can be a slippery slope that leads to a UFO themed apartment. :) --Jane
@@janeeden9053I really like this room. Theme, but with good taste. I instantly imagined myself as a teen lying on the bed and watching an old episode of the x-files. 🤣 Perfect.
Nick, you are so very kind. You really seem to care about people's feelings and this makes your channel a "safe" place for your viewers. Thank you for this.
Maraha's space: with that beautiful window behind the couch, what about moving the couch forward on the rug and placing a long console table behind the couch with plants in a variety of colourful glass and ceramic planters and vases?
That would be gorgeous! I haven't read all the comments but would suggest maybe swapping the chairs from each side of the room. It may help with the flow and cohesion of the spaces and best of all it's free and easy to swap back if it sucks!
I live in West Africa and as much as I would love some rugs the amount of dust I would have to remove every day, plus the extra cost of buying something like a vacuum cleaner, definitely prevents me from getting some.
Not saying that you need a rug but when we lived in the middle East we hung the rugs over a line and whacked them with sticks. Way better than vacuuming.
I loved the UFO room, it looks so cozy! I also really like the octopus mirror and if it were my bathroom I’d make it the star of the show and tone the rest down. My personal decor style is kind of a mashup of boho and faeriecore, so I don’t mind a theme if it’s put together well and has the right kind of details.
I think that octopus mirror should be over the tall dresser in the bedroom, bc I love it too! Too much visual intrigue for such a busy space, and it would really make an otherwise blah space pretty badass instantly by itself I bet. I hope there are follow ups so we can see what they decided to do!
@@rainbomg I love that idea too! Agreed-would love a follow up. Also TOTALLY agreed the pillows in the living room would look better with texture vs whatever patterns those were.
I like it, too, but I think maybe it is too busy with the very fancy sink. They are both so unique, they kind of clash. It would be great if that mirror could go somewhere else in the bathroom and have a simple mirror above that beautiful sink.
"Nice charcoal wall. I think you've been watching Home of Valentina", says Nick, literally sitting in front of his signature charcoal wall. 😂 Love both of your channels, btw. 😉 Thank you and your viewers for a really entertaining video.
@@JustYFriend not resolution so much but dynamic range. I'm watching on an oled and it's very clearly navy but on a low range set it may appear black or dark grey perhaps
It is!!! Also, since I took this picture I changed the light out, so that it's more of an oval shape as well: imgur.com/gallery/W1X07pE . With the gallery wall I'm going to keep the same general shape but space it out more (lol) to add more room in between the pieces.
I love the octopus mirror! Where I think it went too far was the vessel sink that looks like it’s shaped like a fish. The two compete too much. One in one bathroom, the other in another. Also, move the pictures - especially the octopus - to another wall or another room. This would allow the octopus mirror and nautical light fixture to really shine. Beach houses should be playful with a touch of kitsch. It’s disappointing to walk into a beach house that has been decorated with so much restraint that it looks like it was plucked out of a generic suburb.
I love the octo mirror too. It would be nice to see that space with the mirror as the centerpiece! I would do a moody deep ocean theme with that mirror rather than coastal/beach. Maybe with a dark blue wall to really let it pop!
I agree that octopus mirror was GORGEOUS! agree that the sink was a bit much, but it didn't look bad if it's not easy to replace. I do feel the artwork needs to be replaced tho, the softer almost watercolor artwork doesn't match with the darker intensity of the mirror/ sink. maybe some new, possibly more simple, streamlined light fixtures above that awesome mirror to let it really stand out! pretty nice bathroom regardless though! i enjoy a well done themed room lol.
@@hesherette agree on the octopus mirror, it's everything. IMO the sink compliments it, would get rid of the art, it is not really practical and does not go with the rest colorwise. Light fixtures do not go with the theme, some heavier metal would be better
Im still in the " for god's sake pick up all the stuff you drop by the door, deal with the teetering pile of mail, and was the coffee table meant to contain every in progress and abandoned needlework project of the last 6 months?" Stage of the game. But i do love this series. Love run on sentences, as well, obviously.
I love the UFO room. Beds are generally heavy looking and this one is light and the covers are almost art. I like the busy picture wall in the bedroom but agree that the living room picture wall doesn’t work. Your observations and suggestions give me ideas To improve my own space so keep these coming. Thanks so much.
I feel like in Shayna’s space, a little bit of rearranging the furniture could work so much more! Make that small piano the focus and place it on the wall where the couch is, change the black bookshelves for something else, or paint that whole wall black and make them disappear. Then put the couch in front of the small window where the curtains are is and bring in a pair of chairs where the piano wall is and make it a conversation area. Hopefully that makes sense hahaha
YES! I also thought so - my suggestion would be to leave the piano at that wall, but move the book shelves beside the couch ( so that the couch is in between). makes the piano the main feature of this area of the room, and makes the proportions with the couch more interesting. and yes, if you can, get a new couch - maybe something colourful andd velvet to bring in some softness. add then velvet curtains as well and of course some art above the couch.
SOMEBODY TELL STEPHANIE THAT I’LL BUY THAT OCTOPUS MIRROR _TONIGHT_ (if she wants to replace it) I too am a fan of the cephalopods and the giraffes. I think you should take the yellow picture above the door in the bedroom and put it next to the yellow ones like it that you’ve got in the room on one big wall. Take that sweet ass octopus mirror and put it above the tall dresser in the bedroom, and put your fancy bottles of things on there. I think a quick fix is to mix up what you’ve got and disperse it, making the really amazing pieces stand on their own.
@JacyndaMinor, 👆 Looks like Stephanie has arrived. Edit: I've only just realized that JacindaMinor posted this offer, a year ago. No point in me mentioning it now. 😄👍
I completely agree! I think with the current set-up, the octopus stands out as a bit weird, but if everything else were edgier in a more darkly sophisticated way, the octopus would look quirky in a good way.
This was a fun video. I love the “gently” part of gently roasting something. There’s never anything mean spirited in your reactions or suggestions, and I feel like you’re more interested in lifting people up than putting them down. (I also enjoy your comments on barn doors because me too.)
I am not one to love the ocean team in the bathroom, but I do like the octopus mirror in itself :D just having that with an interesting wallpaper or moody color and some metal accents would be so cool!
The mirror is artistic and graceful in a art nouveau style. If that's what you want, lean into it with this tip about getting a supportive wallpaper. Not sure what to pair it with, but check out some art nouveau sites, or maybe psychedelic 60s. But minimize the rest, so that the lively mirror itself is the hero piece in the room. Definitely change the lighting! I think change the sink because it competes for attention , and frankly, the mirror is better by far. I'd even get rid of the wood counter. Can't believe I'm saying that because I Love 💕 wood, especially live edge. But again in combo it all becomes kitch. Together they compete or it goes too far. Ultimately the decision would depend on the wallpaper you can find to go with the mirror. You might look up some pages posted by the sorry girls. One of them is Big into retro and I remember a page featuring fabulous papers that would go great with your mirror! I think Farrow and Ball or Anthropologie might also be useful resources. If this is a powder room, be bold. If this is a main bathroom I'd save the mirror for a different space. It's not large enough for a good vanity IMO. But definitely find a place to give the art nouveau mirror it's hero moment without becoming tacky or juvenile. That's the challenge! He's right that it'd be easier to go with the wood counter, because getting the right balance will require a minor miracle for a novice. But if YOU luv it, go for it. I personally luv art nouveau, even though it's hard to get right. Don't forget to consider how your color choices tie into the rest of the house. I know, he praises the blue. And it is a nice blue at that. But it's jarring IMO against the rest of the home, and ... Frankly, overdone in too many bathrooms all wanting a water theme in their water closet. See what I did there 😅. So, do better than my silly lame jokes. Don't use blue, or just very minor touches of it. Beaches, and rivers, and lakes, and under oceans where octopus live, and octopus themselves have so many other colors. Think brown and champagne. Powdery sandy (try Farrow and Ball for that sandy beach texture) cashmere color, and maybe pearlesent with hints of rose and plum and peach. Art nouveau is typically very feminine, so lean into the lux and fem and curves. Just an idea. Maybe a chandelier in art nouveau style. Lots of options and potential directions to go . But again, don't let anything steal the show from the mirror if you choose it. A little goes a long way if you want to avoid being tacky. Or do the exact opposite and go maximalist and drown the mirror out with over the top items, but that plan would be costly even on a small bathroom scale.
The ocean-themed bathroom was so interesting to me, as was your opinion! I really liked the octopus mirror and art, the hardware and the countertop. I would have gotten rid of the more "nautical" elements with the sailor baskets below and leaned into more natural materials instead to bring the theme to "ocean" and not "coastal", just because that coastal/nautical theme is so much more overdone in my opinion.
I love Jane's room. I love the layered rugs, the gallery wall, the texture on the chair. I love this so much. It does not seem campy or cheap. This geek chic not fan boy. Don't you dare change that gallery wall. I love the shape of it. This is so bohemian. Love the plants too. I want to hang out in your space.
Geek chic!!! I've never heard that phrase before but I'm totally in love with it. Next time I want to describe my home aesthetic goals, that's what I'm using. Thank you! My gallery wall has been controversial in the RUclips comments (in a gentle and friendly way, just like the video) and what I'm leaning towards now is keeping the same general shape but spacing it out a bit....no pun intended.
If Alice's coffe tables are super sturdy, maybe she could order a custom slab of slate to sit on top of them. It would be more organic looking than the shiny black and still echo the dining room walls. I wonder if she would like moving the little desk from the living room into the dining room in front of the windows? It might be pleasant to look outside when working, and the desk could be used as a sideboard when needed - maybe not - probably already has a sideboard and doesn't want to block the windows. Gorgeous home.
17:00 I absolutely love that octopus mirror. I know it may be heavy handed but it looks like a work of art to me and I think it makes the room. Now for resale you of course would have to replace it, but while you live there I can see how it would bring you joy every time you use that space.
Alice has fabulous use of a space. i think maybe a tray on the coffee table to break it up. i think if she has a dining area and a work area within the room she had a reason to do so. loved all her pieces!
I love Stephanie's repetition of her art on the wall. What I'd like to see is each piece with a mat surround in a larger frame. Then they can be placed in various rooms and create a cohesive theme throughout.
You truly are soooo gentle AND sensitive to your followers' restrictions and preferences. I learned a lot from this video. My first time seeing one since I just stumbled upon you a few days ago. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and ideas in a way that helps me see what's possible rather than feel burdened by great ideas that are completely unworkable for me.
I love the UFO room so much I took a screen shot to use as inspiration for my spare room. I probably won’t opt for a UFO theme but the colours and textures are right up my street!
These are fun and a nice way to learn small tips from actual lives in homes. So many decorator tips show model rooms where most of us will never be able to maintain our homes looking so perfect. Please keep this series.
Although I’m not into UFOs, I thought Jade’s room was really cool! I liked her color pallet (isn’t it the same color pallet as yours, Nick?), because she did incorporate the green plants, which softened it up. I liked it!!
That first home with the little nook with the chairs...that would be a great space for a full wall book case, even with a ladder. I think it would elevate the space.
21:17 That Eastlake mirror is breathtaking and I love how all of the wood tones are the same. The white also makes the wood pop even more and makes that gorgeous Eastlake mirror even more of a traumatic center piece.
This was so helpful to see you look at real, everyday spaces and listen to you work through options to make them better! I’d love to see another one like this, but focused on trouble-shooting layouts and working through those problems. I have a really difficult living room to lay out. Been in my house for two years and still haven’t addressed it 🥴😂
Yaaaas!!!! As soon as I saw that wall I thought of Valentina too!!!!! It looks really lovely and with all that natural light, the black doesn't seem too dark at all.
Advice needed! How do you deal with those awkward wall cut in spaces that haunt so many homes (above doors, living rooms, and so on). I feel like putting anything in those weird cutouts are just dust collectors but with nothing it's a void.
Maraha, I love the bones of your space! Like Nick, I noticed the sofa needs to move closer to the TV wall, and the club chairs should move closer to sofa (the seating area all within a 6 to 8 ft zone). A tall green tree will help bring some life and height to the room. Add something for kids to put up their feet when viewing TV such as upholstered ottoman, upholstered bench, or sturdy coffee table.
I would love to have a space that large for a family room Maraha. I’m wondering if you’re in the same boat as me though in that you can’t really have a lot of “hard things” like a stone or even a wood coffee table in that space. The space is for watching tv of course but also for kids who want to wrestle or goof around, even do yoga (as Nick implied) and that doesn’t go well with a solid coffee table. I do agree though with adding variation to the colour palette or materials so hopefully you can find a happy medium between a hard surfaced table and the ottoman you have. Maybe a bigger and more substantial ottoman in a different colour would do the trick. The kids could even sit on it or goof around on it :)
Thank you viewers for being brave enough to open your rooms for viewing by millions of people as it helps the rest of us get ideas. I took something away from each one. Thank you Nick for your wonderful design ideas.
Nick when you mentioned the room that is very House of Valentina you read my mind. Those dark tones on walls are so beautiful. Really enjoyed this video. Love your channel!
I know you don't like theme rooms... but that UFO themed room was spectacularly tasteful and inviting. I saw humor and elegance combining in a wonderful way. It really could have gone very juvenile very quickly but it didn't. I actually thought I was looking at a photo from a design magazine. I also felt the same about Alice's room. It looked like an advertising photo! So well done. I don't know how Alice uses the space, but I suspect that perhaps that room gets the best natural light so that might be why someone (maybe her) chooses to have laptop time in that room. I can also imagine enjoying a morning coffee while checking emails/scrolling Instagram anywhere in the room. I also think maybe the bistro table might be more about the occasional board game or puzzle with the nice sunshine right there... or maybe its about having breakfast in the sunshine. Either way, I think its quite nice. I've known a few people who I think lived in a similar style layout of a home and in those homes, the kitchen and a "family room" were the other 2 rooms on the ground floor but neither got great light. Then upstairs there was usually 2 bedrooms, maybe 3. I don't think its a particularly big house, just very well appointed.
I love when homes have a gallery wall like 25:37 the walls tell a story of all the best memories. Just feels like you’re at the family house where everyone gathers. Just my opinion though!
@@saraahmed-dj9uf The irony of you saying that’s ignorant when there’s a comment in this same comment section from someone saying they don’t like rugs because they live in a middle eastern country and hate cleaning the sand off them… It’s evidently an issue for some people
OKAY BUT I LOVE THE OCTOPUS MIRROR! And I kind of love this bathroom, unironically. It has this "deep sea" /"shipwreck`' vibes. The live edge and the lamps remind me of a ship, the octopus is kinda spooky, in a good way. Even the basin fits into this stormy sea vibe. I would simply get rid of the cheap-looking patterned stuff.
Nick - your comments are so thoughtful - they make the point, provide constructive criticism, helpful suggestions and are seasoned perfectly with a smidge of humor. Well done! (and yes, the dark greyish-black dining room in the last segment made me think of the House of Valentina as well)
I loved the UFO gallery wall design. I thought it was tasteful and used the available space well, which includes not being visually overwhelming. The tapered sides make it seem a more organic addition to the wall, IMO. I see what she was going for and I think she got there. A+
As someone who used to love entertaining Alice's space looks like perfection to me. The room gives a different perspective depending on where you sit. Imagine starting off sitting at the little table near the window and the next time you sit choosing either the sofa or one of the two chairs. It also looks quite cozy.
Nick's channel is one of my top three favorite design channels on RUclips and I would NEVER send him a picture of my space 😆 I love my funky maximalist bizarre bazaar space and I think Nick would have a stroke. BUT! Some of his advice is SO good for any taste. Things like making sure there are different heights, and making sure the art isn't too tiny for the space it's in, that sort of thing is why I come back over and over. Actual design tips you can use even if he would NEVER let me keep my harlequin-handstand lamp with the mauve ostrich feather shade.
If she has the extra space to store two chairs I would also recommend to reduce the number of chairs around the table to 6. Leave only 2 chairs on the longer sides of the table if they are not always 8 people in the household. 9:30 And I LOVE Jane's UFO room. I don't think the gallery wall is crammed and it has a nice shape, the right height, I would not change a thing. Looks amazing and like Nick said: Not weird with lots of plastic toys and eerie Funko Pop dolls. For Stephanie's bathroom I would recommend changing the light fixture to a slightly smaller one with only one light bulb and get rid of the glass for a better lighting where it needs to be. Around the sink. 18:15
On the first family room, nice how it’s so well coordinated, I’m trying to coordinate more, my old place was the classic accidental mish mash you featured in a previous video of a bad example to improve on . (agree, almost too coordinated, green plants, colorful pillows, or side/accents tables with lamps might add the light she wants) . Just a thought, would bringing the couch into the room away from the window also help people appreciate and notice the great view out the window ? The couch is currently blocking the window.

I love how the last photo of Alice's space next to your space looks - white walls framing a dark grey section of wall, wood and neutral fabrics in the foreground...
Shayna's living room looks like an afterthought, a disjointed appendage to the dining area. I agree with Nick to lose the couch; I would replace it with a smaller streamlined couch and loveseat placed at a right angle to each other, and a low-backed armchair placed diagonally to create a conversational square and define the space. The tall bookcases are too matchy-matchy and look odd flanking the lower-profile piano. Maybe keep 1 and angle it in the corner, then get a different shorter one and put it by the window. Judging by the comments, looks like I'm in the minority for not being crazy about Alice's charcoal dining room. IMO it doesn't go with the wood; I think a dark blue with gray undertones would give the same effect, but coordinate better with the floors/trim. ON EDIT: Not that my place is any better; I have a great room and I'm still trying to pull it together into a cohesive space.
I'm surprised you didn't mention this regarding the artwork in the Afrika themed bedroom, but I think adding some tasteful border/frame to them could tie them together a lot better, and in the case of some, it could make them bigger and take up more space where it's needed.
Love these videos. I struggle with what my husband calls vintage, but is just really old crap. He likes traditional and I like a little bit more modern. I hope to be able to make small changes without him getting all worked up. If you would be so kind as to do a video on fans...we don't have air conditioning...so they are a necessity...did I mention he is Scottish (cheap).
@@Jules_Pew not high Victorian. Crap someone made in a shop class in 1950...not good quality. Falling apart. Says it's worth a lot. I disagree as I have seen great furniture. Victorian pieces even. I would keep those...this is truly garbage.
In Shayna's space, I would paint the two black bookcases in a medium tone and move them so they were flanking the couch, maybe with a bridge connecting them and the wall behind them painted the same color as the bookcases. The piano looks awkward between the shelves. In Stephanie's space, I would lose the wall art and get a huge wallpaper mural of an octopus that wraps around the wall above the sink and to the right, simplify the sink and light fixture, and hide the toiletries in deeper baskets.
I can’t get over the UFO room’s addition of a cow rug; I’m not a theme room person either, but I LOVE a good sense of humor! 🤣

I agree! I see a lot of design advice I see includes painting walls a different color which you can't do in a rental! There are exceptions, of course, but I personally find this to be such a challenge.
To that, add in a combo dining/living room & it's a family home with a very low budget. Let the games begin..
I'm glad everyone is united around how great the octopus mirror is. Genius.
Not everyone. It's garish in my opinion.
As a designer I have respect for a theme room in a home. Let your freak flag fly…with dignity. Sure moderation and cohesion is the key.
I thought that Jane's room was sort of cute 💕 and I loved the plants and the cow rug.

I love the UFO room! The cow rug is just *chefs kiss*
I agree, regardless of the theme it is a pretty room
The cow carpet is there because when the UFOs landed, he died in fright.
UFOs and cows are inseparably linked! In the 1970s there was quite a scandal with rural farmers thinking their cows were being abducted and experimented on. It's worth looking up, but I have to warn you that doing that can be a slippery slope that leads to a UFO themed apartment. :) --Jane

@@janeeden9053 Your room is amazing!!! Can I steal it? 😄
Jane's room was INCREDIBLE. I absolutely loved everything about it. She made it themed without making it obvious. Fantastic!
Thank you!!! 🛸 I'm glad it doesn't come across as too tacky.
@@janeeden9053 I don't think it was tacky at all, I think it was super cool! Well done!
Nickis a sweetheart and so diplomatic (he must be a Libra) but when UGLY is plain UGLY, I think he needs to say WOAH!
Maraha's space: with that beautiful window behind the couch, what about moving the couch forward on the rug and placing a long console table behind the couch with plants in a variety of colourful glass and ceramic planters and vases?
Immediately, as I saw the space, that's where my mind went to as well.
Oh my good, Maraha is such a lovely name! It's Swahili for "many joys" abd it just rolls so prettily off the tongue.
Depending upon what your floor is, you can paint a “rug” to provide the visual without the hassle.
I've traveled quite a bit and have been to some regions where I can't imagine even considering having a rug so I get it.
Not saying that you need a rug but when we lived in the middle East we hung the rugs over a line and whacked them with sticks. Way better than vacuuming.
Where I’m from you want the coolness of tiles not the warmth of a rug so I kind of relate! The humidity would probably ruin them too
I loved the UFO room, it looks so cozy! I also really like the octopus mirror and if it were my bathroom I’d make it the star of the show and tone the rest down. My personal decor style is kind of a mashup of boho and faeriecore, so I don’t mind a theme if it’s put together well and has the right kind of details.
I LOVE the octopus mirror! It’s fun! Maybe lightening up elsewhere in that room, but KEEP THE MIRROR 😍
I would agree since I also like unique mirrors. But the rest of the space is busy....maybe just one larger basket and rolled towels under the sink.
Also TOTALLY agreed the pillows in the living room would look better with texture vs whatever patterns those were.
keep the mirror!! but unclutter counter and shelf beneath it which has too many things of same size. looks crowded and unnecesary. add a plant????
I like it, too, but I think maybe it is too busy with the very fancy sink. They are both so unique, they kind of clash. It would be great if that mirror could go somewhere else in the bathroom and have a simple mirror above that beautiful sink.
"Nice charcoal wall. I think you've been watching Home of Valentina", says Nick, literally sitting in front of his signature charcoal wall. 😂 Love both of your channels, btw. 😉

Haha it’s navy!
@@Nick_Lewis It's navy?? Cool! The resolution on my screen is obviously crap! I need an upgrade. 😂

I love the gallery wall in the UFO room. If I'm not mistaken, it's in the shape of a UFO which is so fun but still subtle. Very cool room
Wow great observation, you're totally right. Wonder if that was intentional. Very sneaky!
I saw that too! At first I thought it was an odd arrangement, but once I realized it was a UFO, it became brilliance!
I was dying when nick said to space it out…( or did I imagine that?) it was in the shape of a flying saucer…
I died at that and the cow. When Nick said UFO I was like “what?! This is a boho themed room!”
Another vote for the octopus mirror!
@@annas5303 like a dark brass? we are wanting to replace the light fixtures that the room came with.
art is gone!
I absolutely love Dana K White's channel for good decluttering tips. But I love watching this channel for the "maybe someday" ideas.
If I had that great octopus mirror, I'd have to go full-frontal Steam Punk. And, that's not a theme, it's a lifestyle!
I love looking what other people do in their homes. I either get inspired or I see what I won't be doing.
I think the piano between the bookshelves might look better if they were all the same color and if the shelves were the same height as the piano.
These are fun. I definitely hope to see more of these.
I love Jane's UFO room. Comes across as Boho. The head board wall could be painted a color maybe charcoal. I say more pictures,
Thank you! It's actually not just a UFO room, it's my entire apartment! I'll take more pictures next time I do a deep clean.
Jane, great job!
Thank you!
Believe it or not, it was a sweet Amazon find! But we had to fix it to make it more sturdy for the wall
@JacyndaMinor, 👆 Looks like Stephanie has arrived.

@@sarahlund-nt3kw hey man, I like to operate in a “time isn’t linear” mindset with RUclips comments :) good lookin out!
The octopus mirror is cool but I'd love to see that in a darker, moodier room that leans into the creepiness of the ocean
I completely agree! I think with the current set-up, the octopus stands out as a bit weird, but if everything else were edgier in a more darkly sophisticated way, the octopus would look quirky in a good way.
I actually love Stephanie’s bathroom it looks like a shrine to the kracken and it’s ace!
I love how her theme just went for it. Go hard or go home!
This was a fun video. I love the “gently” part of gently roasting something. There’s never anything mean spirited in your reactions or suggestions, and I feel like you’re more interested in lifting people up than putting them down. (I also enjoy your comments on barn doors because me too.)
Wowww that last one looks right out of a magazine, so pretty 🤩
Stefanie do not get rid of the octopus mirror! I absolutely love it 😍
Oh my goodness I love that octopus mirror
I came here to say the same! It's so unique and special, I love it
I am not one to love the ocean team in the bathroom, but I do like the octopus mirror in itself :D just having that with an interesting wallpaper or moody color and some metal accents would be so cool!
I love this series! So respectful to everyone, Nick! Well done.
Gorgeous home.
terrible suggestion
Omg I LOVE Janes room!! The cow rug! 😂 I’m currently planning a nursery, now wondering if UFO theme is too much for a baby hahahaha
Tray is too cliche. Her space is fabulous. It's straight out of the pages of Architectural Digest.
The octopus mirror is my favorite thing!!!! It's freaking amazing!
I love Stephanie's repetition of her art on the wall. What I'd like to see is each piece with a mat surround in a larger frame. Then they can be placed in various rooms and create a cohesive theme throughout.
Good idea, i love a good mat frame
Love it
could you send me an example of what you mean?

Thanks for sharing your wisdom and ideas in a way that helps me see what's possible rather than feel burdened by great ideas that are completely unworkable for me.
I love the UFO room so much I took a screen shot to use as inspiration for my spare room. I probably won’t opt for a UFO theme but the colours and textures are right up my street!
The octopus mirror in the bathroom was really cool and unique.

I like the UFO room! He/she tastefully expressed what they like and did a great job pulling it together! 😀
Although I’m not into UFOs, I thought Jade’s room was really cool! I liked her color pallet (isn’t it the same color pallet as yours, Nick?), because she did incorporate the green plants, which softened it up. I liked it!!
I didn’t even notice there were UFOs!
Bonus points for the African themed room: she's painted the ceiling and I'm here for it!

That first home with the little nook with the chairs...that would be a great space for a full wall book case, even with a ladder. I think it would elevate the space.
Quincy (in his HomeGoods doggie bed) and I are on the edge of our seats to watch this;-)
Hi Quincy! 🐶
The Octopus Bathroom could easily be made better with deep blue paint in that sink alcove as an accent.
The lighting in that photo is awful. The paint is actually quite blue. Do you mean more of a navy?
I love the octopus mirror!
I love the theme rooms. So great seeing someone express their personality through their safe space.
That is so sweet! Thank you. Tasteful was what I was going for, but Nick calling it "not overwhelmingly weird" was good enough! Haha
I love the last room with the multifunctional room. It has style, charm and it's very usable!
Is this roasting? The guy was very respectful in giving his criticisms. 😃
I love when homes have a gallery wall like 25:37 the walls tell a story of all the best memories. Just feels like you’re at the family house where everyone gathers. Just my opinion though!
well it's what I was going for, so thank you! The house felt void of "us" before
Love the idea but I think varying the sizes of the frames and the placement would make feel less rigid and more organic
Maybe the "rugs in the Middle East" comment meant something like "it's hard to clean sand out of a rug".
@@saraahmed-dj9uf Ever heard of all those beautiful rugs made and used by people who live in the Middle East (desert)?
I loved Alice’s living room. I wonder if she was following the dictum that every room should have something black in it to ground the space.
Thank you! I think I'm going to keep the same general shape but stretch it out to add more white space in between the pieces.
As someone who used to love entertaining Alice's space looks like perfection to me. The room gives a different perspective depending on where you sit. Imagine starting off sitting at the little table near the window and the next time you sit choosing either the sofa or one of the two chairs. It also looks quite cozy.
Look Nick - Stephanie is using COLOR! No white. +10 for Stephanie. 👏
And I LOVE Jane's UFO room.
Love hearing your opinions of real people's rooms. A joy to watch ❤
That octopus mirror is amazing!! I would love to have that and I don't even have a themed room 🙃
I love the "ship" and especially the "moon" of Jane's space, the idea was executed very well
Love these videos I hate to see them end. You seem a little more comfortable in this one gently roasting peoples spaces.

Nick, I am new-ish to your channel and I am really enjoying you! Look forward to watching you on HGTV at some point! You are so respectful and kind! Love your design tips as well! Thank you
Alice even did the double-table trick like Valentina. I bet you hit the nail on the head that she gets some inspiration from her. Beautiful space!!
I love your energy! From Jamaica
Maybe if you give the traditional pieces a bit of space in a modern design, they would look tons better.
@@Jules_Pew like I mentioned, he is cheap. Even getting rid of furniture is tough...he saves everything.
@@annetteanderson3375 Ah - a clone of me I see. Sorry - please embrace high Victorian
Maybe show him how much $$$ he could get selling his old stuff on ebay or FB marketplace?
