    People who often comment "41mm is too big" really should try more watches on their wrist. Breitlings often wear smaller than they measure. People tend to pass on awesome watches just because of the size stated on the brands website.

      Agreed. We also need to stop universalizing our own preferences. If it's too big for me, it doesn't have to be too big for you

      The 806 is a fabulous size but I think they should make a chronomat just like the OG 808 chronomat. It’s a perfect size for me.

    • @FlorianGrau
      @FlorianGrau 2 года назад

      I have never worn a Navitimer, but why do they wear small? Usually the size of a dial makes a watch look big or small and the Navitimer's front is dial almost exclusively. I would have expected them to wear actually larger than Panerais etc.

    Great video. Somehow, visually, the smallest size looks the thickest. There's always pushback to bigger watches, but sometimes a small watch looks out of proportion if it is even slightly on the thicker side (case in point the Tudor BB pro). I think 46 looks the best, and not overly big because of its proportions being spot on.

    I love watches and own many, some of my favorites are omegas. I purchased a a new 2021 46mm two tone navitimer on a strap, (which I changed out for the new strap, since the clasp is nicer) and I actually have been wearing it the most lately. I think the new version looks great, but I am happy with the one I have. I think breitling is making some excellent watches lately!

    Re the 46mm Navi: 52mm L2L and 13.9mm thick is extremely reasonable measurements for that size Chrono! Really does make the details Clear. It’s a watch that isn’t busy just for the heck of it and you would enjoy seeing the details! I am happy that Breitling is providing tons of variety in colors and sizes without raising the prices between the variances drastically though! Great video as always.
    I find it very funny that people refer to some of the cleanest, most legible watch dials ever (Fliegers, e.g. IWC Big Pilot) and some of the busiest, most complicated dials ever (like the Navitimer) both as "pilot watches". Yes, I know both were historically used by pilots and have different design goals. I still find it curious.
    Personally, the Navitimer was the first watch that really kicked off my interest in luxury timepieces (I went to an airshow in 2014 where the Breitling Jet Team performed...marketing works, dammit) and so I feel like one is in my future at some point. And I definitely think it will be a blue 46 millimeter like the one in this video. However, I could have bought one a few weeks ago at Watches of Switzerland in Heathrow Terminal 5 and went for a Grand Seiko instead, for what that's worth.

    The new Navitimer in its classic black/white form 41mm and silver 43mm is probably the two nicest Navitimers ever released period. Although the 43mm probably looks best on a 7in wrist due to its 49mm lug to lug length. But that’s preference. The 41mm Navitimer has the same measurements as a Rolex sub. To put it into perspective. Btw a 43mm watch isn’t considered “small” although on the proper wrist it looks fine. I agree the 46mm though looks fine on a 7in wrist as I’ve also tried that size on but would never buy a 46mm. In the end a Breitling Navitimer is nicer than almost any IWC since you mentioned and more known than any Zenith. It’s worth the money spent and can easily be had for around $1k-$1500 off from authorized resalers. Grey market a few dollars more. But not worth the warranty void.

    There is an unexplored parallel in the Breitling Navitimer and Panerai Luminor. The legacy of purposeful design and an associated contemporary dismissal from self-described watch enthusiasts, their quirky can’t-mistake-it-identity, the simplicity and clarity of the concept-even if the slide rule of the Navitimer is too particular for most liberal arts majors and people born after 1960-but most of all, the illogical elegance of their oversized cases. They both require that their owners not give a damn about what those enthusiasts think. And, I think, they reap the rewards of enjoying something really fun. I say this is unexplored, and yet, you have now explored both and come to, I think, the same conclusion. Thank you for being the fresh air this hobby needs, for being different, open-minded, and, well, fun.

    I own a Breitling blue with white sub dials a23322, you can pick one up for half the cost of the new ones and get it serviced by Breitling. For those disappointed with the WR, the reason is the slide rule bezel. Breitling has stated in order to increase the WR they would have to make it internal. Maybe they will produce it in the future but that would change the iconic look of the Navi.

    You know the navi could be one of the last bastions of a watch actually being used for it’s purpose. Many general aviation pilots still fly aircraft from the 60’s and 70’s, meaning they have analogue gauges. It’s why we’re still trained on how to navigate with paper charts and a flight computer. Which the navitimer is a simpler version of.

    i got a 6.5" wrist, i wonder if the navitimer world being at 46mm would be too big?

    Why no tachymeter? I wonder why Breitling removed it. The AOPA is almost a deal breaker. Breitling has great emblems (the wings or even the B). I really like the date at 4:30 too.

      I agree. Not really a fan of the original AOPA. It looks unbecoming of the piece.

    Based. However legally Sinn 903 St is the one and only true Navitimer. Mentioning any other Navitimer is a Sinn. 😁

    2:45, you mentioned that that these are automatic, are the Navitimers not 'Self-winding mechanical' ? I may be confused.
