- If you're moving to France, there are a few things you're going to want to find. First, if you're a "do it yourselfer", you'll want to know where the Nice verson of Home Depot is. Well, there isn't one. But, there IS a Bricorama! This has become Jeff's "go to" place for most everything tool, nut, bolt, screw or bits and baubles he needs to fix, install or make something better.
And, of course, you'll want to know where the best mall around is, nearby. That means you'll want to find C A P 3000. The largest mall we've found, so far.
So come with us as we share our journey to both.

Hi! I'm An Scott. I'm a happily retired 70 year old woman with my “golden years” on the horizon, living the “good life”, whatever that is on any given day, with my fun husband Jeff, and our “bossy” little Yorkie, Bella.
We have recently moved from the USA to the beautiful south of France and made our new home in Nice France.
Moving from the USA to a foreign country was no small “project”. Through my videos, we’ve been taking you through the Long Stay Visa process, the packing, the purging, the moving, searching for an apartment, creating a great Dossier, learning the way things are done administratively in France, and sharing the steps, talking about what we’ve learned and the ups and the downs.
And now, we continue to share our life, our new life, here in Nice, getting settled, adjusting to the “French” way of doing things, dealing with the French “red tape” and all the while, making every wonderful day in Nice, the best day ever…

What a nice mall. I couldn't believe the view from the terrace where Jeff was enjoying his aperol! I love that you are taking us along your daily life in Nice. Through your videos we can see what life is like there.
Thanks in advance for this upload which will be very informative when our time to move comes around. You are very kind An and Jeff.
It’s always a pleasure watching you guys. I can feel the joy in all your adventures. We’re counting the days back to Nice. Abientot
What a great video! One of my favorites…love to see this slice of everyday life. You two are so great together!
You both our a joy! Ill be visiting in Oct . Ill be looking for you two maybe walking around or videoing!
Very interesting shopping experience! Some of the stores look like Pier 1, Bed Bath and Beyond and Marshall's rolled into one store which can be a good thing! Hoping the quality of stuff there is not all China made (falls apart apart a few months). I am so glad Jeff had a good time, my husband does when we go to Lowe's. All in all, thank you guys for sharing this info with me. Wishing you both much happiness and fun along the way🙏.
An, I think that your retirement in Nice suites you both well. Your sense of humor is shining. Loved watching the shopping sprea at Bricorama.Jeffs creativity for Bella and the netting was really cool. Your balcony looks to be pretty good size, the flowers and plants really enhance it. The song about the hammer was fun to watch especially the face of the frenchman face that was approaching.. Thank you for including us on your 🛍️🛒trip.
The view from the top floor of the mall!!! Beautiful💙
If I were you, I would buy the Air conditioner now before the rush comes on and they run out of inventory. I remember the olden days when finding a window air conditioner or a fan in the middle of a heat wave was next to impossible to find. I am now so spoiled and thankful for central air🙏
Yes! Exactly! That's our plan. That's why we have been looking at these AC's for the last month. Coming from Florida, where we have had to prepare annually for hurricane season, we know how busy it gets if you wait till everyone else wants (like generators and portable ACs, etc) something to start shopping.
@@postcardsfromourgoldenyears make sure you check the ac’s BTU. It relates to its output and the size of your room. You can’t go wrong with 12,000 btu. Lower buts might struggle cooling bigger rooms.
I think the one we just bought is 9000 but appears to do the job well. Our apartment is not huge and if we need to we'll get a 2nd one just for the back of the apartment by the bedrooms. Fortunately we don't need AC, here, now, but we'll wait and see if it's enough.
Jeff is the best.
I love this video. I wish to see an apartment tour video. 😊
We'd love to see an apartment tour too. Unfortunately, we are just receiving delivery of all of our boxes from the US--today. We are planning the tour for an upcoming video AFTER we unpack our boxes, put everything away and make our apartment look like "home". Stay tuned! ❤
@@postcardsfromourgoldenyears great!
Enjoyed this! Thank you!
Thank you for all the information in your videos. I went to the Ventimiglia market and had a very pleasant day there and will return. Sanremo and its market is also on the list to check out. I appreciate the tip. I got on the train at BSM and it was packed. Most got off in Monaco.
Thank you Ann and jeff. You are a fun couple and I am glad you are enjoying retirement.
I love the color of geraniums. I don’t recall. seeing that color in US.
Ann would you please if it is not inconvenient, When you go shopping, Please mention prices .
I really appreciate it .
For some of us clearing items In US , What to bring or not.
I like to know what is good in US that you can’t find there or is way more expensive in France. Thanks again
The geraniums were around 4 or 5 euros for each pot. I am actually working on a video where we'll share info on what we things to leave behind, what things we're glad we packed when most said no and things that are expensive in Nice. It'll probably be out either next Sunday or the one following. So stay tuned! xo
I live in Nice part-time and have never been to Bricorama in person. However, two years ago, I ordered three radiator style room heaters from them online. Delivery was free and fairly quick, and the delivery guys carried them all the way to my third floor apartment for me! The apartment has built-in heaters in all three rooms - living room and two bedrooms. Practically useless, could not get warm! Summer and fall, I usually get by with ceiling fans, but I hope you will report on your air conditioner decision because I have been considering something like that!
Bonjour les Niçois, personally I like the am pm store I find that they have rather quality products. In this regard I remind you that it is soon "les soldes" period from June 26, for about a month, if I am not mistaken, to get good deals.
You guys made me laugh. When I come to Nce next year we’ll definitely have to meet
Great stuff! You must try socca from Rene in the old town - supposedly the best, and they cook it in front of you! Also, have you visited the Ikea yet?
Yes, we have been to Ikea many times. Purchased several pieces of furniture there as well as some other items for our apartment
"Try to find a way to need it"... 😂😂😂
Castorama, bricorama, Leroy Merlin, electro depot, jardiland, botanic, Office Depot, there’s almost everything in most French cities, but you’ll need a car
That's the good thing about living in Nice. No car needed. We walk or use public transportation. I think we would only rent a car if we were buying something large and couldn't get it delivered
Bojur Ann and Jeff
I watch you every Sunday from Coeurd'Alene Idaho. I am here in Nice visiting and will leave Thursday at 6am.
I'm going to check out the mall tomorrow, and will be having lunch upstairs at 1pm. I will where white lenin pants and an Orange baseball cap, so if your able please join me.
I would love to chat with you.
I will stay near the bar..
Monique
Monique again
I should have mentioned tomorrow is Monday.
Wearing white linen pants and cap.
Hope you can make it.
But totally understand if you can't.
I thought it was worth a try. I'm 66 years old small lady .🦋.
Monique
Thanks for the invite Monique. First, we're busy, today, preparing for the delivery of all of our boxes, from the US, finally, tomorrow. So it's a busy week for us. Lots to unpack! Enjoy your trip to the mall. I'm sure we'll get back there again, after we're all unpacked and see what's still left to buy. Safe travels. P.S. Next time you're in Nice, we'd be happy to meet you, if time allows, but please do us a favor, for everyone's privacy, and send a private message to my email address (not here) noted in the details under each of my videos. xo
@@postcardsfromourgoldenyears okay. Sorry
I was cracking up! After you entered the huge mall, it looks like you caught on film a woman whacking a man over the head with a sheet of cardboard ( I hope)!😂
@@jeandrumm5025 I thought I caught that as we were watching it on Sunday too!! We will have to go back and look! I didn't remember it at the time we were in the mall.
Don't abuse the heels of your fabulous shoes - get the hammer!
