- Guitarist Nita Strauss has just released a new song with Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz! I have to say...this is rather satisfying. Are you aware of either of their work? Are you already a fan of Nita? This track seemed to get a lot views in the few days, what do you think of it?

Love the flight of the conchords mention! They are amazing!!
I didn't expect he would start playing it and knew about them. Was pleasantly surprised as well!
An extra sneaky bit of fun
Nita is so awesome. Looking forward to what she does in the future.
thank you Justin for answering my question! I'm gonna try to take a step back and get everyone on the same page productivity wise! You are an outstanding musician and it warms my heart to see how engaged you are with your audience!
I watched the video where he answered your question. I remember thinking when he said for you to take a step back, that's probably quite good advice. I hope your band does really well. Good luck for the future. 😊💕🎶
Nita Strauss is amazing! Definitely an inspiration to me, as a female guitarist myself!
Same!! ❤
im a hairy man, and she is also an inspiration. i don't think guitar playing loses anything, by being done by a woman. do it like you know it baby!
@@paulm8908 i think it's more the fact than seing another woman front on stage in a style historically male dominant that inspired her as a guitarrist
Just hopping on to let you know that as a non-musician, yet a lover of good music, I rather enjoy your breakdowns of songs. I’m mom to a daughter who played clarinet from age 10-23, but still possess very little musical knowledge, aside from having a bit of recall in reading basic sheet music. You’re teaching me a bit about music theory, how songs are composed, and the like. So from a new fan from across the pond, thank you! Peace!
Thanks Marcie!
you chose correctly to follow this mans musical theory. he is a genius. have you listened to much of the darkness?
I absolutely adore these videos. Thank you Justin they're both informative and funny
Cool :)
I second and third harmonic that
I always enjoy when Justin enjoys the same music I do, makes me feel good about myself
I've always been a fan of both of these artists on their own. Their collaboration is a welcome collision of worlds for me!
I saw Nita Strauss play with Alcie Copper just last April. It was a great concert and she was amazing! I'm really loving this song! I'm glad you chose to review it.
So this is AFTER editing??
Justin, you're becoming one of my sources of new, recent music, and I can't be more greatful. 👌👌👌
The hard on gag really got me on this one, i must commend your editor on their ability to zoom in on your face at precisely the correct time Justin, stellar work!
Hardon gag, he he.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to laugh at Justin's hard-on 😜
Ibanez is actually making a LEFT-HANDED version of Nita's S series sig. and I've got mine pre-ordered. Finally! Been jonseing for a quality Ibanez lefty for decades. Thanks Nita!!
That’s awesome! Congrats 🍾
I love my lefty Ibanez
Explain why a left handed person would want a left handed guitar. I could never figure that out. Wouldn't you want your frett hand to be the hand that has more dexterity in it? I am left handed, and the fingers on my right hand are much slower then the ones on my left hand.
Saw Arch Enemy in Brixton recently and Alissa really is just that good. Amazing voice and stage craft.
Saw them in Dublin can confirm
I haven't listened to "shredding" for years and I have to say this song is great, for me it was like time travel back to the 80s :)
OMG. They are superb. Love every note of the song. Don't care why, maybe because of her superior technique. Maybe because they sound like Evanescence getting wed to Slayer. Thanks for recommending this!
Rapidly becoming the best part of my day, you never fail to make me laugh and your analysis are fascinating, it's actually been changing the way I listen to music! Thank you so much 👍
I don't think Ive heard of Nita Strauss before today. I love how you talk about musicians that we'd otherwise never have heard of. Will have to look up some of her songs later. Thanks Justin ❤👍
She played lead guitar for Alice Cooper and the singer on this song is in the band Arch Enemy
Saw her live with Alice Cooper in Memphis a few years back. She's a freaking beast.
She’s been around for a while now on huge stages. Started out in The Iron Maidens, went to backing guitarist for a bunch of bands like Kiss and then touring with Alice Cooper. Who she was with for a while. Her career reminds me of Orianthi.
From Nita Strauss herself...
The lyrics of this song were inspired by “The Story of the Two Wolves”, a legend widely attributed to Native American storytellers"
An old grandfather was teaching his grandson about life:
“A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy. “It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil-he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you-and inside every other person, too.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf will win?”
The grandfather simply replied, “The one you feed".
I so enjoy your dissection of songs. Always really well done.
This tune is not my regular kind of music, but I love Nita Strauss (both as a player and a guitar goddess), so gave it a chance.
I've now listened to it quite a bit and totally agree that it's massively satisfying.
Great production, great playing, great vocals. An all round fantastic performance.
Keep up the great videos, Justin.
Kudos for the open mind. You're in for a treat if you go down the Arch Enemy rabbit hole, as well as Allissa's previous work for The Agonist.
Not my genre but great chat probably not converted ! But love the breakdown and discussion thanks Justin, your making me more rounded about heavy music ! Great fun !!!! 😊
Brother Justin! Love your channel and music. Thank you for being fun, cool and genuine which makes your channel cool. God bless you.
"... bolstered by two ACTUAL DEMONS..."
Never change Justin!
Oooh I love you!!! And I love that you made this video!!!! Thank you!!! Alyssa is my all time favorite lady in metal! Saw Arch Enemy a couple of months ago and she is just as stunning and vocally impressive live! 🤘🖤
Arch Enemy is brilliant live and HurricaneNita has absolutely shredded the couple of times I've seen her with Alice Cooper. I love their collaboration here. 🤗
I can't believe you threw a Flight if the Conchords reference in there! Made my day you legend! Also, we call that particular head banging move the 'Western Suburbs Windmill' in Melbourne!
Looking back as some of your work Justin, this is one of the best review work that you have done.
Watched your videos for a while now, always love when you cover something thats more my genre taste, great video Justin!
Fuckin love Justin, knows what he is on about and tells it straight.
Never heard of her thanks for bringing her to my attention. All the best
I'm loving this!
Your description of douple time is truly something.
Good stuff thxs again Justin for riding again
From AZ
Dude you nail it when you said her solo gave you a slash type feel ..I felt the same when I heard it . She awesome..
I can’t believe there’s a video a day!! On👏the👏grind👏
Every single day.
The smile on Justin's face at the beginning just says it all! 🤘😀👍
Justin,
Love to hear you critique ZZ Top at their prime!!! The Gibbons/Hill/Beard trio were in place since 1970 until the death of Dusty Hill last year! That's enough to make ZZ Top the longest-running group with an unchanged line-up in the entire history of popular music. That alone makes them worthy of mention on your channel!!!
Love you & your RUclips channel -Corina ❤
yeah! thanks for uploading
Nita is the nicest, most talented person I ever met, and can easily blow many top guitarists out of the water…Josh, her boyfriend is her drummer, absolute beast! …..perfect fit, God I miss the Conchord boys 😢
Yeah, Flight of the Conchords rule!! How did you hear about them, mate?
@@williamlangeii4012 from this bloke who lived behind my flat
i think she holds her own with any guitar player. the fact that she is a woman, with a perfect booty doesn't mean anything... sarcasm inserted. lol
@@paulm8908 haha..not at all!
The technicality you bring to examination of rhythmic influences in musical art is second to none. Bravo sir, bravo.
Great discussion. Love the double time stuff as well.
The chat about timing made much more sense when explained with the plane of the head circles 😂🤘I'm now re evaluating the head movements to all my favourite tracks
Now I want a “Hurt Feelings” mash-up.
This song kicks ass, nice to hear Allissa clean vocals again. If I remember, she used to use them a lot in The Agonist
nothing kicks anything ass... today stuff is not even music... it is lowest of the low compared to 80s 90s and even 2000s... 2020s is very bad.... music is done
Your Gollum voice cracks me up every time sir!
This was such a great collaboration to see. I love Arch Enemy, and to see Nita really shine on a heavy track with Alissa is just brilliant. Alissa's vocals have mainly been the heavy stuff. It's great to see her throw in melodic sections on Arch Enemy tracks, and songs like this. And I absolutely love how much you enjoyed the riffage at the start. Great react vid. 😂
Justin speaking drum is truly a site to behold. Made my day. Gonna go whip my hair now.
I saw Nita Strauss playing with Alice Cooper. She. Is. Amazing!
@@StreetPreacherr Yes, I believe you ate correct. But she's amazing!
A warm bath of drop-D… quote of the year! Very well said, mate. So now let’s listen to some Sleep.
I thought "The agonist" had two vocalist, male and female, then I watched one of their videos and it blew my mind. I've been following Alissa White-Gluz's career and other female lead singers since then. We did not have that back in the 80's.
Thanks for pointing out the awesomeness of Nita Strauss. Have just heard "alegria" and will enjoy her talent from now on.
Nita Kicks ASS
nita is the real deal for sure! 🤘that intro riff is amazing!!
All of nitas stuff is simply amazing she also plays the bass on this track. Catch up on her she definitely earns her nickname hurricane
she is lita ford with a serviceable bum, but 21st century fox.
Your enthusiasm is fantastic
you are one of my favorite artists, so i will respectfully hold my tongue. lol im playing. love your inquiry.
“…slipping back into that warm bath of Drop D”.
Noice one!
the fact that you know Hurt Feelings - FOTC, warms the cockles of my heart. Ka mau te wehi!
I dig Nita! She is very interactive with her fanbase!
Has it all - thrashing, grooving, melody, blistering guitar work sssmokin 🔥
Watching him nerd out over music no matter the type makes me appreciate him and his music that much more.
Great explanation of the vectors of head movement.
Alyssa's old band The Agonist is awesome, they have another great woman on vocals now, Vicky Psarakis
I love The Agonist. She was more interesting then than in Arch Enemy.
@@sadhappy8860 agreed, I'd say true of the music itself as well, Arch Enemy inexplicably monotonous considering the guitarists in the band
@@tofubutcher7456 Amen to that
She's cool. We played a few of the KISS events with her when they had a football team. This vocal phrasing reminds me of Slipknot.
Agreed. But I can’t seem to gel with the mix of harsh and melodic sequences. Its sounds soooo generic to me. Just my 2 penneth.
Bloody marvellous 🤘
YES!! massive respect for Flight of the Concords
Yay a new video from you! Perfect 21st birthday present.
Ahhh Justin, you do make me giggle from time to time. Great video mate 😂🙂🙏🏻
I appreciate your thorough explanation of the pinch harmonics - no one seems to mention the position along the length of the string
This man is a musical legend no doubt about it
Channelling your inner Poliphany. Love it.
Great review! I love this channel
Thanks!
This episode is just fantastic.
Justins windmilling to metal tutorial was most enjoyable
Just stumbled across this song this morning, and yes 100%. Now seeing you go over this couple hours later. I said the same thing 5secs in also holy shit i love this
Great to see you covering Nita Strauss. As it were.
Just been introduced to your channel! Really enjoying, and appreciating your take on music. Totally get how you relate the drum style to head movements on this, it's so difficult to describe but very entertaining to watch.
These are my favorite episodes, the ones where you can't tell if you're being facetious or serious. Or both intermingled.
Thanks for making my birthday in April (at the Tampa show) legendary!!! Keep up the great content friend.
Big fan of Nita, saw her live solo.
FOTC!!!!! Yes it sounds like Hurt Feelings in that key changey part. I love how your brain works Justin!
Well... I think this means we need a Flight of the Conchords video.
I heard the teaser on Instagram and knew it'd be an awesome song
Someone needs to do a clip of Justin's drum vocals.
Such a good channel!
already a fan of Nita - saw her twice with A Cooper. I did monitors for Arch Enemy in 2005/05 in New Orleans. Great band and singer as well.
Damn they were probably touring the Anthems Of Rebellion album, my favorite of theirs.
It's the same singer doing both the growls and clean singing. Alissa is an exceptional singer. Her growls are great but her clean singing is out of this world. You should check out a song called "Thank You Pain" from a band that she used to front called The Agonist. You really get to hear the range of her clean singing.
Nita was just doing a workshop here in Nashville on the 24th. Exciting player... I almost bought her signature guitar... very ergonomic but didn't have a complexity of sounds I normally look for.
Yeah right lmao...
Alissa is from Montreal, baby! They are both great.
Love Nita Strauss! Was actually disappointed that she left Alice Cooper to play with DL.
I haven't listened to this song yet but I'll check it out after watching your video.
In the beginning of her solo I heard Ritchie Sambora-esque phrases ... The unison bends followed by the pedal point with descending intervals. It isn't surprising considering her stint with Alice Cooper. There was overlap here and there between Alice Cooper and Bon Jovi back in the day, among others (winger etc). For example, Desmond Child co-wrote hits for both artists.
With her tenure in the Iron Maidens and Alice Cooper alone she's been influenced by and had an envious opportunity to study and master a number of terrific guitarists.
Travis... I'd like to apologize, I didn't realize I liked you until I first saw your podcast a couple of months ago. Now I can't stop watching. The beautiful thing is, I get to experience you and your music for the very first time.
Thank you 😊
In Canada, I do my pinch harmonics (aka squeals) with my pick and thumb.
The world is yours is wonderfully satisfying to listen to
The beginning riff with the whammy dive reminds me of that song by Walls of Jericho from back when - Trigger full of promises.
Hey Justin... the part you are enjoying so much is directly snatched from a Killswitch Engage tune called „Rose of Sharyn“... or I shall rather say „it’s amazingly similar“ 😂. Maybe you‘ll enjoy that one as well. Cheers! 😉
Thank you I knew this sounded super familiar
Wow! Yes! Flight of the Conchords!
Nita Rocks! Saw the Alice Cooper Detroit Muscle show last year. She's a Rock Star!
A new vid!!! I´m excited!!
Never heard of her, but sounds good!
YES! FOTC.....outstanding. More of Kiwis in NYC.
Check out her performing Perpetual Burn for Jason Becker, just amazing.
I love your take on these songs. I can’t stop watching your videos. I would love to see you do one these videos on King’s X! Maybe the song Shoes? Anyway keep them coming.
