This looks AMAZING! However I would love to see how the footage looks before RUclips compression. Is there a way you can share the original footage with me? I'm on the fence of buying a GoPro 7, but it's hard to find original footage.
@@vmdirt Poland. Well.. it is but it is also a very diverse continent. Depending on where you go, you experience something different. Every single country is totally different from its neighbor. Really like your video here. I think i'm pretty sold on this model GoPro. I ride a lot and it looks great to me!!! On this model can you tell me if there is a plug in for a mic to put in your helmet? I didn't see one in other vid's about The GPH- 7? If it doesn't have one that's alright with me,,,... I can hear your bike fairly well with very little wind noise...that's pretty amazing! Again, great video..you sold me! Ps: AWESOME WHEELIE ! \,,/
You can but unfortunately you can't just plug in a 1/8" mic plug. See here: community.gopro.com/t5/Cameras/hero-7-black-external-microphone/td-p/243484
Your footage looks pretty good, some of the 1080p footage uploaded from the hero 7 black to RUclips is horrific!!. My session 4 1080p looks way better that the 1080p uppload from a hero 7 black. I have no idea why?
It's definitely something with how RUclips transcodes and compresses the video. The video looks stunning before uploading to RUclips. I haven't been able to figure it out.
Thnx for video mate i finnaly see how GoPro looks on motorbike while driving, seems like on 4k 60fps image quality and Anisotropic filtering is alot better, on 1080p 60fps Anisotropic filtering is very poor while driving. Video quality on all resolution is awesome but while driving is poor have same on my camera but only 1080p max. 4k Anisotropic filtering very good
The video is closer to Troy. I don't believe I got my ZX10 all the way down to O'Fallon on that road in the last couple of years. There are several bikes just like mine in the area though.
Actually this video is the best quality I've been able to get on RUclips. It looks pretty good in 4k actually. But, if I record in 1080p the original video before uploading looks just as good or better than what you see in this video at 4k, but on RUclips it looks absolutely terrible. I don't want to have to record everything in 4k@60fps because the file sizes are huge and very hard to work with and very time consuming in all areas of edit, upload, processing etc.
And it's not a GoPro issue. It's a RUclips compression issue. I have seen some really good quality GoPro video on youtube so my theory is RUclips compresses video more significantly on videos that aren't going to make them any money.
Insane video quality. I've just downloaded the 4k60fps rip off RUclips, it's 1.5gb. Watching it on loop, great quality. But maybe a bit crushed dynamic range, I assume this was left on default and not something like SLog?
Yes, those were completely default settings. I have always had very bad luck uploading video to RUclips and have the quality be anywhere near as good as the original raw files played on the home computer. I have found most of the problem is on RUclips's end. I have never been able to upload a good quality 1080p video. What I have found is that anything above 1080p with a high bitrate seems to come out the best. Now I shoot everything at 2.7k 60fps Linear POV and when I edit any video in Davinci I make sure to upscale it to 4k and set the bitrate to 60,000 kbps. RUclips compression still makes a few things look bad (e.g. riding through a stand of trees), but it's the best quality I can get. As far as tuning things in the protune settings that's where I could use more knowledge. I also picked up a copy of Davinci which I think could help get the brightness and color right if I knew more about how to use it. I've been getting better with it little by little. This video is just an upload of a raw GoPro file of course.
@@vmdirt Thanks for such an in-depth reply. I think a lot can be improved if shot in the "flat color profile" should help to keep the dynamic range from clipping (which can make high contrast tree shadows appear just black instead of gradients of gray as it should). With the flat profile you can color correct in post process.
@@vmdirt Which videos are 2.7k 60FPS linear? I'm trying to decide whether to use 4k 60 wide or 2.7k 60FPS linear. 4k60 doesn't have linear FOV support yet.
I tried to name all the test videos with the mode I used. This one for example was in 4k Wide, which is what I recorded this particular video in. But like you said, 4k doesn't allow Linear FOV so I have decided to go with the 2.7k/60FPS/Linear for my motorcycle videos. I think Linear is the best FOV or motorcycle POV video. Anything I upload at this point will probably end up being recorded at 2.7k (or 1080P if it's video from my Hero 5), but upscaled to 4k before uploading to RUclips. I have found that I can upload a video to RUclips that was recorded in 1080p and it will look terrible on RUclips, but if I upscale it to 4k, keeping at least the same bit rate as the original video, before uploading to RUclips, it looks very good when played back as a 4k RUclips video.
Are you uploading the raw files from your GoPro or did you edit them before uploading? If you are uploading the raw files sometimes it takes several hours before RUclips renders them at full resolution.
Unfortunately I don't know anything about Macs or iMovie but have to assume iMovie is transcoding your video. If I upload the raw files directly from the camera using a web browser RUclips renders them to 4k with no problem (other than taking several hours). But, I can also edit 4k videos in Davinci Resolve and upload to RUclips in 4k with no problem.
Wow lovely neighborhood, and that bike sounds beautiful also the 60fps makes it look way better

I put a copy here. Let me know when you get it and I will remove it: jmtsolutions.com/files/

It was the raw video straight from the camera. Whatever bitrate it records in.

east st louis

GS1200 Cork I got a hero session four and I love it but I think it’s time for an upgrade!
It's because of the youtube encoding and your bitrate
GS1200 Cork use H.624 format when uploading to RUclips that’s the best and fastest
What video editor do you use? I've tried several things and my final output video always looks grainy
Hi in 4K mode how long does battery last from full to kaput?
What bitrate did you choose when you exported the video?
This is not an exported video. It is the raw video file copied straight off the card. But the bit rate on it is around 60,000 kbps.

This video was all default settings except for that I listed in the title (4k@60fps FOV=Wide)
Where do you guys mount your GoPro on when riding the bikes? I always go cheat mount but think helmet might be better
I used to mount my Contour Roam cameras on the side of my helmet but the GoPros are not aerodynamic at all so I mounted this one on the chin.
Do you use an external mic??
I do not. I wish there were better options for that.
7:51 minutes 4k 60fps = 3,54GB?
Yes
Is the stabilizer on?
I replaced the electronic damper with a manual one.
vmdirt no I meant the stabilizer on the gopro lol...Is that on?
Ha ha, I realized what you meant and came back to fix it but it was too late. :) Yes, it is on.
Also, I have upgraded the firmware since I took this video and I think the jerkiness is now gone when turning.
