Small thing about Barney handling his weapon, a trained security officer would keep his finger off the trigger while handling his gun, so he should pick it up with his index along the slide of his gun-same with reloading. A small detail but it does well to show how well-trained Barney is. Of course you could always have a scripted mishap at the shooting range where someone _doesn’t_ follow gun safety and, oh, shoots himself in the leg. Could be used to demonstrate how first aid stations work to new players.
Also, while in the gun range, people usually put-on/remove their head-gear before moving into the gun range and after they exit the gun range. I've been to one before.
Honestly, it doesn't feel very Half Life to have animations for him picking up the gun and putting on the helmet. Everywhere else in the game, you just walk over items and then you have them. Why should I be any different here?

@Josh JeanJacket Jaeger Shame you don't get paid for basically doing 2 jobs xD But tbh I don't think I saw a single person that wasn't a security guard or a scientist, makes you question if they even have a maintnence team!
I really liked seeing guards running through the hallway with purpose when the alarms started blaring, it makes it seem like they have more situational knowledge than you and there’s some danger somewhere
This is awesome! I love the detail in it, and the dialogue! Beautiful work. The Decay scene and the other camera bits were great too. It's got some flaws, but I cant wait to see how they improved upon the original in later missions.
What they have done with Black Mesa is nothing short of incredible. I bought the game a couple of days ago, just got to Xen and I am astonished. Once I'm done with the game I'll go for this one.
Half-Life best game ever!!! I believe that the game should be resurrected every 20 years. Black Mesa this is truly the best fan reincarnation in the history of games.
20:55 You see, after Trevor got rid of Devin Weston with Michael and Franklin, he applied for a job at Black Mesa to forget about the horrible things he has done. 26:30 But too bad he died in an elevator, i don't know why he didn't just use his special ability in that situation.
And he found another Patricia, well, a Patrice, to.... not actually fall in love with. Or it's probably Franklin who has assumed Trevor's identity and Michael's money to acquire an education and then a legitimate job. After all, the real Trevor burned away in the San Andreas countryside.
So...I was scrolling YT videos and suddenly found this. I didnt know what to expect and I feared a lot it will be trash. I love how the drama and stress starts to rise slowly...how the problems starts to appear more and more. Then "something" happens - guards running around with guns - nobody knows anything whats coming. Then the main thing happens.... yeeeeaaaaah... I fking enjoyed that!!!!! It was great!!! I just hope they will stick with the realism and less "movie scenes"...and wish developers luck! I hope they won't disappoint us! But keep in mind they are doing their best for us...fans. Enjoy what they give us anyway! :)
Liking some of the neat changes like having to do the corridor light puzzle in order to open the door and especially a more sensible take on the "malfunctioning" elevator.
This is the list of things that I love and a little bit dislike: Cons: -the animation is a bit janky and it's a very slow paste-like the view model animation where barney picks up his gun and his helmet, it doesn't add on. -Putting too much music: I love crowbars collective theme songs in the classic black Mesa, all of the themes are very good and amazing to hear. But this is way too much music like when you walking down the hallway and suddenly a rock music cues up like you a slow-motion and a camera slowly coming right at you, I don't like it. Pros: -the voice acting and the characters: I love the voice acting, I know they are the same people but the voice acting is very realistic like screams of the girl in the elevator, and the sound of the panicking of the security guards when the *incident* is happening, feels very scary, And I like the humour they put with the characters like water one where a security guard gets splashed on his clothes, the sliding box one, the camera one as well, it feels like they're real people. -OTIS (I know he doesn't look the same Otis we know, but I'm glad he's back) -I like the atmosphere it looks good and is very terrifying Edit: oh yeah and the beer joke, I'm glad they put it back. So yeah blue shift is very good, but they need to fix the animation and low it down with the music, and I know it's the demo but I need to share what's good and bad so that they can expand the good and fix the bad.
I agree with your criticisms and praises personally glad I’m not the only one that had these thoughts. Still I’m excited. Hopefully they’ll make some tweaks. I know with Black Mesa they made changes as time went on.
This is why we need more stuff dedicated to black Mesa as a whole I mean there’s just so much of the daily life there we don’t know so many roles not explored like for say a radiation safety officer or a civilian there because their husband or wife works there the point is we need more stuff like this.
They made a great job with breathing some life in the hub area, lighting and scripted events. But some of these "gaining equipment" cutscenes are unnecessary. They break immersion instead of adding to it. The final ride down gets more scary the more it progresses. And this scream at the end is really horrific
WOW. It looks like a movie the whole story of Half-Life 1 and 2, with no cutscenes. AWESOME AND PERFECT !! Now if you take Black Mesa, Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa and put it in videos for each part, it makes a real film worthy of an Oscar. Wonderful, the part of the cataclysm of the Xenian Invasion seen by Barney in the elevator gave me the creeps. Much better and more terrifying, agonizing and realistic than in Black Mesa, from dr. Freeman's point of view!! It's very scary, it was perfect. I spent years waiting for Black Mesa. He left and was impeccable. Now we can only look forward to Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa. My God, they will be flawless too. So many years of waiting are worth it. Currently, only Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa Ps: The only element that is ugly in this Guard Duty are only the animations, but should improve over the years, just like the Black Mesa that also had some errors that improved. In Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa, I hope it doesn't remove any animations either, they just need to improve, but not be removed, as they left the game more immersive and organic. Good that this Saga of Black Mesa is very light and runs on many home notebooks and that are not gamers, this and great. It's a lot to play, like me Ps2: later I hope they do a remake of Decay, also linked with Black Mesa, Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa, to close with a flourish this impeccable quartet of the best franchise ever: Half-Life
Just so everyone doesn't freak out anymore about the terrible animations, they were changed with the recent update that came out and have gotten much better !

Kinda wonder why Security is doing all the maintenance work
@Josh JeanJacket Jaeger
Shame you don't get paid for basically doing 2 jobs xD
But tbh I don't think I saw a single person that wasn't a security guard or a scientist, makes you question if they even have a maintnence team!
Which is why I'm hoping the Black Mesa Character Expansion will be used in a mod to make some NPCs look like workers and janitors for this remake.
I get a feeling it's a lil chilly in the facility, gives more to the atmosphere.
Looks great cant wait for this team to finish up!
omg the utter chaos in the last few minutes
always great to see the incident from a different perspective just shows the tremendous scale of black mesa and what damage has been caused
@@Paonporteur Oh I definitely am, and I love it!
Damn, guys, that is so Black Mesa-level of quality! Please keep it up!
10:18 they even fit Decay into it, nice
wtf this is actually good
Edit: Just finished watching it and I'm welling up. This is incredible! I can't believe how amazing this is!
So much character and personality in here
I loved when Barney flash the camera in that guards face and made him fall
What they have done with Black Mesa is nothing short of incredible. I bought the game a couple of days ago, just got to Xen and I am astonished. Once I'm done with the game I'll go for this one.
I love how this really highlights how dysfunctional Black Mesa really is.
10:17 nice Half Life Decay reference
Just take out the cutscenes and im happy.
Half-Life best game ever!!! I believe that the game should be resurrected every 20 years. Black Mesa this is truly the best fan reincarnation in the history of games.
The music are awesome as hell as it posible !!!
Damn this is awesome! I'm excited for the finished product :)
4:45 i love how one of the notepad says "Buy a beer for Gordon" but well he never did yet...
never noticed that damn !
The last 4 minutes are just so fucking good, it bought me completely!
20:55 You see, after Trevor got rid of Devin Weston with Michael and Franklin, he applied for a job at Black Mesa to forget about the horrible things he has done.
26:30 But too bad he died in an elevator, i don't know why he didn't just use his special ability in that situation.
And he became black
Whoa, he's named Trevor too that's crazy
And he found another Patricia, well, a Patrice, to.... not actually fall in love with. Or it's probably Franklin who has assumed Trevor's identity and Michael's money to acquire an education and then a legitimate job. After all, the real Trevor burned away in the San Andreas countryside.
"Now I wonder if those boys could have make a bigger mess."
Otis is still a big boned chad, i like that.
BARNEY CALHOUN 💙
this looks amazing, this was my favorite hl game honestly
Liking some of the neat changes like having to do the corridor light puzzle in order to open the door and especially a more sensible take on the "malfunctioning" elevator.
11:45 the best soundtrack I heard during a walk, I thought something happened but then I remembered that this is HL XD
They really need more VAs for the guards, since there are now a lot more of them in the start of Blue Shift
I love how this being a mod has their own identity 10000/10
Imagine if BM dev team got in on the fun and helped them out. That would be something great
Wow incredible *HL: Blue Shift Insecurity💙*
Blue-Shift is my favorite add-on and I am glad somebody picked up the task of converting that one.
This is the list of things that I love and a little bit dislike:
Cons:
-the animation is a bit janky and it's a very slow paste-like the view model animation where barney picks up his gun and his helmet, it doesn't add on.
Pros:
-the voice acting and the characters: I love the voice acting, I know they are the same people but the voice acting is very realistic like screams of the girl in the elevator, and the sound of the panicking of the security guards when the *incident* is happening, feels very scary, And I like the humour they put with the characters like water one where a security guard gets splashed on his clothes, the sliding box one, the camera one as well, it feels like they're real people.
-OTIS (I know he doesn't look the same Otis we know, but I'm glad he's back)
-I like the atmosphere it looks good and is very terrifying
Edit: oh yeah and the beer joke, I'm glad they put it back.
My stomach hurts while watching this gameplay, my hurts only when I get really stressed. They made a great work with this
I imagine that the security guards do all the IT work because there’s barely any incidents and they get bored of waiting around all day
This is why we need more stuff dedicated to black Mesa as a whole I mean there’s just so much of the daily life there we don’t know so many roles not explored like for say a radiation safety officer or a civilian there because their husband or wife works there the point is we need more stuff like this.
Well I now got something to hold me over until operation black Mesa and guard duty are released
They made a great job with breathing some life in the hub area, lighting and scripted events. But some of these "gaining equipment" cutscenes are unnecessary. They break immersion instead of adding to it. The final ride down gets more scary the more it progresses. And this scream at the end is really horrific
This is pretty cool. I saw a few messups with text formatting, but it looks good to me otherwise.
Currently, only Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa
Ps: The only element that is ugly in this Guard Duty are only the animations, but should improve over the years, just like the Black Mesa that also had some errors that improved. In Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa, I hope it doesn't remove any animations either, they just need to improve, but not be removed, as they left the game more immersive and organic. Good that this Saga of Black Mesa is very light and runs on many home notebooks and that are not gamers, this and great. It's a lot to play, like me
Ps2: later I hope they do a remake of Decay, also linked with Black Mesa, Guard Duty and Operation Black Mesa, to close with a flourish this impeccable quartet of the best franchise ever: Half-Life
