we can prevent body by keeping it inside the hollow body as there is no electric field inside the hollow body this phenomena is termed as electrostatic shielding and a body which used to perform electrostatic shielding is called *Faraday cages* .
I bet that actually he would not die- Explanation: Flow of the current occurs only when there's difference in electric potentials. Let's say that those ''lightnings'' are 50kV. The cage must has been connected to the ground (0V). Obvious. We can get lightnings. If he is isolated from the ground there's no current that could go through him, meaning he is safe. Remember birds landing on ''voltage lines'' and nothing happening? Touching high voltages does nothing where current have no way to flow...
To all those people talking about him touching the cage - if you look closely, you can see there's some clear glass or plastic lining the cage. It's easier to spot during the music as Adam is reflected in it, but it means it's not actually possible for him to make contact with the metal due to the glass/plastic in the way.
the point of a faraday cage is , EVEN IF you touch the cage, you will not get hurt, the metal is a much easier way for the electrons to go through than your body and they always find the easier way, so they will choose to pass through the metal and ignore your body and you will never get hurt
A faraday cage should be lined with something non conductive. Like plexiglass. I do believe that is what was is between him and the cage. That is how I was taught, but I am no expert.
@@jorjiang1 That's not the point of a Faraday Cage. What you've simply described is grounding (assuming the cage is grounded) through a path of least electrical resistance but that's not what defines or even what makes a Faraday Cage in anyway remarkable. Because the charge distribution only accumulates on the surface, if you touch the surface of the cage you'd just split the circuit and would be acting as a parallel resistor and so electricity still would run through you (although because a metal cage has a lower resistance than you, most of the current would go through the cage). But if the supply voltage was high enough and/or the cage had a higher resistance you could receive a bad shock. A Faraday Cage blocks external electromagnetic field lines. If you have a gaussian surface, a conductor, with a surface charge distribution with an empty space inside it, that empty space is cut off from any external electromagnetic field lines, since the interior field lines within that conductor act equally and oppositely, cancelling each other out (E-field = 0).
@RagingBubuli Yeah, that was my question to, but I understood that Tesla actual used his own body as the grounding point, ie all the electricity went thru him.
Moving forward in time requires moving at nearly the speed of light...nearly, being the keyword. Moving backwards is more difficult, and requires a wormhole. As cool as Adam Savage is, he's not really equipped to do either of these :(
@TheSunsLight I take it your reply to me got deleted, but as you seem desperate to throw out insults, I think you're struggling with issues that have nothing to with this video or Adam Savage, and you should worry about that instead.
The Doctor: What a rubbish TARDIS! I mean the framework is nice enough, maybe it'll be lovely once it's finished. Needs more round things though, and I hope they get the windows the right size.
I'd thumbs-down this but Mythbusters is usually cool, plus it did make me wonder how much of a Tesla coil you can unleash in a room with a bunch of expensive electronics without having a micro-meltdown. Otherwise this was Star-Trek-Fest-nerdworthy.
@TheSunsLight So, you knew him in high school? If not where do you get your info? I'd like to check your sources. Fluff? I would not suggest that his projects represent real scientific inquiry. I would say that he does a lot to promote enthusiasm in science. The simple idea that scientific inquiry can reveal the truth and uncover myths for what they are, is lacking in many American children. He may be a clown, but he inspires people to practice science. That is a worthy academic service.
If only jpmorgan and Edison didn't fuck tesla over we would ALL have free electricity and all sorts of other crazy inventions maybe even time travel ffs! But nooo they had to ruin it smh now I could use a time machine more than ever
it's amazing, electricity and the doctor who theme.

I moved 186 seconds into the future while watching this.

Adam Savage + Electricity = MEGAWIN!
Best. Cage. Dance. Ever.
GEEK LEVELS: REACHING CRITICAL!
A caged man dances for his life while onlookers cheer.
DANCE FOR ME ADAM BOY DANCE FOR ME
Imagine he accidentally touch the cage...his life will be gone
I bet that actually he would not die-

50kV-50kV still means no current
@@kenkku4004 If he'd touched the ground AND the cage unisolated= bzbzbbzzppzpz
This is a faraday's cage nothing will happen if he touches the interior of the cage
What is going behind the cage in 2:22 in green color 😮
What am I watching???
Doctor Who music... nice
What is the name if the thing that is creating sparks?
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Now if only the cage looked like the TARDIS
Who's from "The Sorcerer's Aprrentice"?

@@i_am_humann doesn't Faraday cage cancel the charge?
i see why they are dealing with time, they are summoning The Doctor
Faraday is a all time genius
@TheSunsLight What do you have against Savage?
If the Same person would touch cage (from inside), would He become electrocute?
@RagingBubuli Yeah, that was my question to, but I understood that Tesla actual used his own body as the grounding point, ie all the electricity went thru him.
Nope,he doesnt experience any electricity because he is protected by faraday's cage.
Plus he is isolated and the cage is propably connected to the ground
Two of some of my favorite things combined?!
I can die happily now

Tesla coils. Noticed some of his movement influenced the magnetic electricity.
Do you want to try without THE CAGE ?? ;)
Adam goes to all the cool parties.

Boston Museum of Science has a nice little zapper
Are kuch Ni h just physics h
By the way I love this experiment heartly
faraday não era muito bom das ideias de colocar tanta confiança no seu próprio experimento.
The movie sorcerers apprentice anyone? With nick cage?
