This Might Be the BEST Place to Live in All Of Missouri

- The Greater St. Louis area actually has quite a few nice cities to call home if you know where to look. Wildwood is in far west St. Louis County, and I like to say that it's on the edge of both the Ozarks and the St. Louis Metro area. The biggest downside is that it's a far drive to get to a lot of the regions best amenities, but that's also why the residents like living in Wildwood as they are far away from all the drama.

Wow! What a beautiful drive! It's hidden gems like this that really make me appreciate your channel!
Chris's Liveability Score is a great idea as you are personally visiting these areas and there are different factors that make a community good.
I remember "Wildwood" just being woods, miss taunting the police on "Zombie road". I recently returned and was shock on how nice it became.
What a pretty area! Also, I think it's so interesting how small the city of St. Louis is.😊❤
I know right?!
I know, the city of St.Louis's land mass is so tiny its laughable while Kansas City's land mass is 325 Square Miles of land.
Wildwood Missouri has one of the most beautiful sceneries in St.Louis County.
I used to deliver pizzas around here, so I got to see a lot of the neighborhoods. I would LOVE to live here someday.
Very nice area! I hope people who plan to move to these communities watch your videos to get a good idea of what they can expect. I'd choose Wildwood and love the idea of your own personal grade on these videos Chris!
Appreciate the kind words, Shelby!
❤❤❤ Good Job Chris!
Welcome to the Ozark region of St.Louis County Missouri.
I wouldn't mind driving 30 minutes to work know that when I got off I'd be coming back to one of these Beautiful house's. Thank you Chris for sharing.
I went there once and all I remember is one long road full of stoplights as the only way in and out that took forever to get through
You are talking about Manchester Rd. it runs through wildwood, ellsiville, chesterfield, ballwin all the way to downtown. And it can be a living hell.
I live near wildwood it is an amazing area for sure!!
Beautiful area and soundtrack to match (no urban beat). But houses are too big and expensive for my single needs, and nothing seems to be within walking distance.
Not for everyone, but perfect for the ones who end up buying there.
Wildwood is a GREAT place. Unfortunately there is a minimum salary requirement to live there.
Yup
Yeah all the ratings services....your rankings Chris is well done but if one picture is worth a thousand words how about a great video. By showing very well the area with good narration you make it much easier for the individual to decide for themselves. The area to me is unexpectably beautiful for St. Louis metro. Craig
what a beautiful area!
I agree!
I went to Areavibes and typed in two west coast cities that have BIG crime problems. Their scores were higher than Wildwood. Assuming the higher the number the better "livability" it makes me wonder about that website
Made a video on Bradenton, Florida recently and the site gave Bradenton an F in amenities… like… how? Lol. Bradenton is on the beach, has plenty of shopping and outdoor recreation.
❤❤❤❤
I AM WAITING FOR U TO COME TO WASHINGTON,O THE TOWNS AROUND IT GET HOLD OF ME & WE CAN GO FOR A RIDE IN MY 51 Y.O CLASSIC CAR
I would live there!
I go country cruising out there.
Same here mate
The only problem with WIldwood is in the fall there are leaves everywhere. If thats the citys only problem id say that's pretty dang good.
Hi Chris, I’d love to send you the latest Wildwood Points of Interest Map with 20 scenic drives and detailed histories of Wildwood’s eleven historic communities. We also have an original alignment of Route 66. If you are interested, let me know where to send it! The Wildwood history book is coming out in September, too;)
Jeffco might be a little rough around the edges....its not that bad.. wheeler walker🤣. drop em out🤣🤣🤣🤣
Honestly my biggest problem is you use of the word “better”. It’s a subjective term that assumes that what you consider “better” or “good” would be the same for everyone. Wildwood is too expensive and too far away from the city (and the county for that matter) for most to want to live there. It feels like you’re speaking to the 35-40 & up crowd. Yea it looks nice and the nature is pretty but that doesn’t mean it’s the best place to live. Same with st Charles, yea it’s a nice area but it’s not necessarily a great place to live depending on your situation. I know many people who move somewhere to experience the city and not just to live quietly in some suburb
The further away the better
Stl gets bad image the suburbs are great! Stl is great to but we gotta figure out crime.
All giant McMansions now. No place to live unless you are quite rich.
Um... no downtown? Zero? You drove right by it (Taylor Rd) but didn't turn in. Not large, admittedly, but that's by design. And it still has a movie theater, a hotel, a half dozen restaurants (some extremely good), a major supermarket, a major pharmacy, city hall, a farmers market, a medical office, a realtor, a bank, a fitness center, a hair salon, and a handful of boutique stores. Plus one signal east (Manchester) there is another center with another major supermarket, another major pharmacy, a gas station, two medical offices, more restaurants, and more salons. This is no downtown? You missed the boat on that one, sorry. Otherwise - pretty good evaluation although I think you underrated the recreation a bit as well. [No, not hometown bias, I live in Chesterfield!]
Never considered that to be a downtown despite a street being named “Main Street” and everything. Looks like a fancy/modern suburban retail area if you ask me. I see that type of development in a lot of places. Nothing wrong with it… if I lived there I’d probably go there and shop often or whatever. It just doesn’t give me any real downtown vibe.
@ChrisHarden I totally agree 100% brother, it looks more suburbia than downtown with a little Urban vibe like Kirkwood.
I live in STL county and just no lol. Much better places in the state. I love driving around listening to Wheeler Walker Jr. 🤣
No guardrail on that road at 3:00!
So. Have you ever traveled roads and upstate New York or even worse in Pennsylvania? I can see why would be nice to have a guardrail there but just can't put them up everywhere. If you ever does one down in the Ozark proper, then you will be appalled by the lack of guard rails.
Makes me nervous sometimes too when there’s no guardrail. The highest road in elevation in the nation is Mt. Evans in Colorado. No guardrail there for multiple stretches and a much steeper drop off!
Ahh yes, Old State Road... good times growing up in nearby Eureka. This road is where we honed our cornering skills as teen drivers. There never was any sort of guardrail, but in some areas there were wooden piles driven into the ground. Along Old State Road there's a house right on a sharp 90 corner that used to have massive stone walls/pillars right at the road on the end of their driveway. Eventually they stopped repairing the stone from car strikes. I see on google maps its now withered away to almost nothing.
Guardrails are for sissies, just like sugar and cream in coffee is for sissies....
LOL LOL
Old State Road is quite the adventure.
Is this the area near where Nelly built a mansion?
I show drone shots of the house in the 2nd video. It’ll be uploaded in a couple of months.
@@ChrisHarden Sounds great Chris. Thank you 👍.
Wildwood maybe a half hour drive from St. Louis, but that is still a bit too close for comfort. Wildwood looks like a great place to live, on google earth I see there is even a ski resort. The lack of amenities is part of the charm---instead of going to McDonalds (UGH) you have a BBQ, instead of going to the mall to hang-out you go on a hike or "pedal" bike ride. It's the lack of amenities that help bring people together to socialize. Area-Vibes may be a bit W0KE in the way they look at suburbs. To the people of Wildwood, please please don't let Wal-Mart move in......
You must have been sad when restrictive covenants were declared illegal.
I think Areavibes and most other websites just strictly go off of data. When you don't have human judgement you come across comical errors like with what we saw with Areavibes livability score of 62 that was given to Wildwood. For comparison, Detroit's is 54 or something like that.
This is the same reason why I don't freak out about AI having a negative impact because Chat GPT lacks human judgement and personality.
@@ChrisHarden Sometimes too much attention is given to public transportation. Many people in the burbs would rather drive even if the was public trans or not, some people enjoy driving and some hate it. People choose where and how to live. For me everyplace I have lived is far from any freeways/interstates, has more of a "mom and pop" feel to the shopping area --- no Wal-Marts. Funny thing in a lame way, a Wal-Mart just moved in a few miles away, but it is a more of a mini Wal-Mart, it's the smallest one I have seen and no we don't shop there. Chris, your scoring system seems more realistic because you are scoring places you have actually driven through. Thanks and have a great day.....
@@ChrisHarden Just thinking here:
Who controls the data that Areavibes and the others use. It's as accurate as the mindset of the people creating the data.
Have a great day......
I agree 100%
$$$$$
Nope to this entire state.
hahaha
"Whitewood".
