St. Louisian here! So glad you had a good time on your visit. Different websites or publications put out lists of cities that are the most dangerous in the country. Unfortunately St. Louis usually ranks high on those and has earned a bad reputation because of it. The truth is St. Louis is a great city and very underrated when it comes to tourism. If you visit again make sure to go to the Botanical Gardens. Also I'd like to say that I appreciate that you mentioned the not so great aspects of our history. It's important to acknowledge these things so that we can learn from them.

    • @EatSeeRV

Thanks Megan, glad you enjoyed the video and yes there's often two sides (one being far darker than we often like to acknowledge). It was a great city and hope more people get to discover it for themselves!

I've lived in St. Louis, Lost Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, Denver & Boulder, Salt Lake, Seattle-Tacoma, St. Petersburg, Chicago, and Tulsa; and I've worked in a dozen other cities across the US. Without a doubt, St. Louis is the best. Chicagoans think their city is the better of the two, and St. Louisans tend to be insecure about the comparison. Hey, Bulls and Bears, no doubt, but that's it. I live now and will retire in Summit County CO, because it has the two things that St. Louis doesn't have - mountains and a comfortable August, but St. Louis will always be home. Go Cards!

Nice overview of St. Lou. Our grandkids live there and we visit often from Boston. We love the town. A few places you didn’t get to that i highly recommend.
Missouri Botanical Gardens… beautiful displays.. huge grounds.. on of the best BG’s I’ve ever been to.
Tower Grove Park .. has a great splash pad for the kids when the temps rise.
Lafayette Square… if you love architecture it’s a must visit.
The Delmar Loop…. Salt and Smoke is my second favorite Bar-B-Que after Pappy’s
St. Louis Zoo… also in Forest Park… free and fantastic!
Take a drive out to Grant’s Farm with the kids.
    Urban Chestnut a great brewery.
And finally…. The Venice Cafe … really just a dive bar… but you’ve never seen one like this…. Funky, artsy, Mosaics covering everything… sculptures… the place itself is a piece of urban art. Beer is cheap.
Yes… Union Loafers has the best pizza. St. Louis pizza worth a try… but it’s a curiosity… it’s not good…

What? Plenty of walkable districts and parks. There are river boats. “Insufferably” hot is a matter of preference on temperature climates. Humid, yes, upper 90s and some low 100s for sure in the Summer. Insufferable, not sure I agree. I grew up there and didn’t consider it suffering. The four seasons bring great variances between Winter and Summer for sure.

The place to go in St. Louis is the City Museum. It's a giant playground for both kids and adults. Wear clothes you don't care about.
We also have the best free Zoo in the nation.
We do have a reputation for crime. The county is completely fine, it's the city that's the problem. But you should be fine as long as you stay in areas with high pedestrian traffic and walk in a group.

Growing up and still living just west of STL I hate the city I work downtown a lot of the times bc that's where most of construction goes on and I'm a demolition laborer. I've been robbed and guns pulled on me had police tell me to keep moving before the sun rises bc you'll get car jacked. The city is trashy violent and has all kinds of drugs just roaming the streets. It's a shitwhole

I've lived in St Louis for 6 years now. My favorite parts are the frequent gunshots, people's inability to use a cross walk, and streams of trash on the freeways and sidewalks. But yeah I guess it has a couple decent restaurants.

@@mistertardigrade443 what bubble? I still live in the city and have been victimized so have many other people I know. It's one of the most dangerous in the country.

@@barbara7611 that is such a ridiculous statement. I’ve never been in a remotely dangerous situation my whole life in stl. Can’t say the same for the year and a half I lived in Denver.

You should move so you can hate the next place you live. I’m sure it has nothing to do with you.

21 years in St. Louis, and I didn't see everything. 13 & a half minutes doesn't do "The Lou" justice. You spent time in Soulard, but missed the Dog Parade? Mardi Gras? South StL ? North StL? East StL ? 13 minutes doesn't give time for diverse communities .

Of course not! We're not trying to capture the entire essence of the city but share the short experience we had there!
