I've lived in St. Louis, Lost Angeles, Orange County, Sacramento, Denver & Boulder, Salt Lake, Seattle-Tacoma, St. Petersburg, Chicago, and Tulsa; and I've worked in a dozen other cities across the US. Without a doubt, St. Louis is the best. Chicagoans think their city is the better of the two, and St. Louisans tend to be insecure about the comparison. Hey, Bulls and Bears, no doubt, but that's it. I live now and will retire in Summit County CO, because it has the two things that St. Louis doesn't have - mountains and a comfortable August, but St. Louis will always be home. Go Cards!

  • @markvigneron3363

Was there from Buffalo last year! Went up the Arch, took a riverboat ride and caught a couple of Cards games. Unfortunately was not able to go to the Federal building ( closed for repairs) and time didn't allow me to visit Budweiser Brewery. I will be back!

St. Louisian here! So glad you had a good time on your visit. Different websites or publications put out lists of cities that are the most dangerous in the country. Unfortunately St. Louis usually ranks high on those and has earned a bad reputation because of it. The truth is St. Louis is a great city and very underrated when it comes to tourism. If you visit again make sure to go to the Botanical Gardens. Also I'd like to say that I appreciate that you mentioned the not so great aspects of our history. It's important to acknowledge these things so that we can learn from them.

    • @EatSeeRV

Thanks Megan, glad you enjoyed the video and yes there's often two sides (one being far darker than we often like to acknowledge). It was a great city and hope more people get to discover it for themselves!

Nice overview of St. Lou. Our grandkids live there and we visit often from Boston. We love the town. A few places you didn’t get to that i highly recommend.
Missouri Botanical Gardens… beautiful displays.. huge grounds.. on of the best BG’s I’ve ever been to.
Tower Grove Park .. has a great splash pad for the kids when the temps rise.
Lafayette Square… if you love architecture it’s a must visit.
The Delmar Loop…. Salt and Smoke is my second favorite Bar-B-Que after Pappy’s
St. Louis Zoo… also in Forest Park… free and fantastic!
Take a drive out to Grant’s Farm with the kids.
    Urban Chestnut a great brewery.
And finally…. The Venice Cafe … really just a dive bar… but you’ve never seen one like this…. Funky, artsy, Mosaics covering everything… sculptures… the place itself is a piece of urban art. Beer is cheap.
Yes… Union Loafers has the best pizza. St. Louis pizza (IMO’s) worth a try… but it’s a curiosity… it’ not pizza.

The place to go in St. Louis is the City Museum. It's a giant playground for both kids and adults. Wear clothes you don't care about.
We also have the best free Zoo in the nation.
We do have a reputation for crime. The county is completely fine, it's the city that's the problem. But you should be fine as long as you stay in areas with high pedestrian traffic and walk in a group.

What? Plenty of walkable districts and parks. There are river boats. “Insufferably” hot is a matter of preference on temperature climates. Humid, yes, upper 90s and some low 100s for sure in the Summer. Insufferable, not sure I agree. I grew up there and didn’t consider it suffering. The four seasons bring great variances between Winter and Summer for sure.

I love the Cardinals but that city is dead in my opinion. The downtown has no nightlife other than going to a Cardinals game or a Blues game.

As a St Louis native, I hate to see videos like this where tourists come to town and are told to try things like toasted ravioli, Pappys and St. Louis style pizza. There are SO MANY better meals you could have here! I wish I was consulted before you came to town lol

    • @EatSeeRV

Haha I'm sure there's awesome restaurants there! 😁

@ if you come back to town, I highly recommend Blackthorn Pub for pizza, Stellar Hog or A Touch of Texas for bbq, and in my opinion you should skip toasted raviolis unless you want some appetizers at a bar.
Regardless, thanks for showcasing the area and I hope you come back!

21 years in St. Louis, and I didn't see everything. 13 & a half minutes doesn't do "The Lou" justice. You spent time in Soulard, but missed the Dog Parade? Mardi Gras? South StL ? North StL? East StL ? 13 minutes doesn't give time for diverse communities .

I've lived in St Louis for 6 years now. My favorite parts are the frequent gunshots, people's inability to use a cross walk, and streams of trash on the freeways and sidewalks. But yeah I guess it has a couple decent restaurants.

Sadly many cities can say the same. Don't let some of the negatives overshadow the positives there. Nowhere is perfect! There's a lot of great things to like about St. Louis.

Some people who just visit do not realize how dangerous St. Louis is. Those places are good to visit, but you have a high chance of being a victim of violence, I know.

      I live in the city.
And there is no where else in the stl area I would rather live. Stl is no more, and no less, “dangerous” than any other city.
Urban living isn’t for everyone, and some people just prefer to live in their nice cozy suburban bubble
