Your brain needs a lot of water to work, but if your other organs don't have enough, the brain cedes its own water to them, causing pain. It is the same reason why your head hurts when you cry a lot and don't drink water to refill.
The Golden Idol games are excellent, another puzzle game you've probably heard of/played that pushes a lot of the same mental buttons is Return of the Obra Din. Also big sympathies on the headaches, I too have chronic migraines and headaches.
