Im a Giants fan and that game still hurts to watch...Giants were thoroughly pushed around and dominated and, won anyway. As for the SB; 2011 Patriots were a paper tiger that lost to EVERY team better then 8-8; Including a week 9 game at home against the Giants 2nd string because everyone was hurt. That NYG in NE game shocked ME; an informed Giants fan; anybody paying attention would expect they'd tee off on NYG backups 56-0 in revenge for 18-1. The Pats ONE quality win, was the Ravens in the AFC Championship; won by dropped passes...only needing to beat the 8-8 Tim Tebows by not abandoning any sound coverage to blitz like the arrogant Steelers WC round;.
Agreed. Fellow Giants fan here. Patriots lose to either team in the Superbowl that year, Us or if they played the Niners, they lose. And I'd even go as far as to say Packers and Saints as well. But I gotta disagree with you about Alex Smith. Sure we got beat down, but Smith still lost them that game. When you're 1-13 on 3rd down conversions you're not beating pretty much ANY team over 7-9, much less the eventual Superbowl champions. That NFCCCG came down to Alex Smith just not being able to move the football when he needs to. SURE he won't LOSE you a game, but he damn sure wont win you one either. Sure they blamed Kyle Williams, but if you watch that game closely it wouldn't have even came DOWN to that OT situation had Smith done his part

This is when I knew a) the 49ers were front runners and b) Alex Smith was the one holding them back from being a team mentioned in the same breathe as the '85 Bears or 2000 Ravens or whatever.
