I would like to share some clarity on dynamic & regenerative braking.
Dynamic braking & regenerative braking are similar in the sense that both technology turns the motor into a generator and are based on Lenz’s law, but they are different technologies. In dynamic braking, the energy generated is dissipated in resistors. Whereas, in regenerative braking, the energy generated during braking is returned to the source(electric mains in the case of electric locomotives).
