Great video! My wife and I just returned from a 2-week working vacation in Oaxaca and I wish we had watched this beforehand. Still, we had a great time and yes, Casa Oaxaca is one of the best restaurants in the city, in addition to Hierba Dulce and Boulenc.
My wife and I just finished our time in Oaxaca. We followed some of your suggestions and they absolutely did not disappoint. I was apprehensive about chapulines but they were delicious! Thank you!
My wife and I are going to Centro de Oaxaca this Tuesday April 11. I am Hispanic, live in California but ashamed to say, never been in Mexico. We already have reservations on some of the restaurants, I cannot wait to try the Moles. Thanks for this video.
Hola. Just returned to Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca. Seeing this video post-trip. Happy to say we also tried many of the places you mentioned. Tierra de Sol mole n Mayordomo hot chocolate was my fav!! Keep on keeping on ❤
Awesome video you two!! Also want to add that I’ve followed your channel from the early days… and am SO loving seeing Martin fully in action in your content now! Such a great energy from you both. Can’t wait to get to Oaxaca and try these places. Thanks again for the great content !
Thanks so much! It's amazing to hear you've been around for a while. We are really feeling totally in sync these days with our filming, so I'm glad it's showing on camera :D
As a fact, the "chocolate mayordomo" chocolate is very sweet, those who take it for the sweet hardly finish it, but even in some places, in the same center they can make your chocolate as you like and the ingredients you are looking for, if You want it with sugar, little sugar, without sugar, with cinnamon or without cinnamon, most of the chocolate that they sell en masse, has more sweetness, because of the production but when you buy it for yourself, it contains what you want.
I really like you video guy’s and also I want to take the opportunity to telling people if that Oaxacans don’t do Something for keeping the city nice for tourists from different places this is going to be bad! Some time! Pease do something!
whenever you want to try the other side of Oaxaca Cuisine send me a buzz, i will take you. the places you presented are really good options. not tourist traps . then there´s the other places, those i can show you.
Hi guys, I thought Tourist to Local would mean eating where locals would eat but on seeing the prices you show they seem a lot more like high end touristy prices. It’s been the same in most of your other videos too. Are you promoting for the owners? which is fine as long as you make that clear. Just thought you’d not be showcasing high end spots but places in neighbourhoods where locals live. Steve
Hi Steve! Thank you for your feedback and sharing your perspective on our channel, Tourist to Local. We appreciate your thoughts and would like to clarify our approach. In our videos, we strive to strike a balance between showcasing both popular tourist spots and local establishments. Our intention is to provide viewers with a well-rounded experience of a destination, including a variety of dining options. While we do feature some higher-end establishments, it is not because we are promoting them for the owners. In fact, the owners have no knowledge of our channel. The inclusion of different price ranges is deliberate, as we cater to two distinct markets. We have viewers from abroad who are interested in discovering local and budget-friendly places. At the same time, we have viewers from the local market who are on vacation and seek extraordinary dining experiences, which may include higher-end establishments. We believe that showcasing a range of options allows us to cater to different preferences and interests. While some of the restaurants in our videos may be more high-end, it's important to note that we believe the quality of the food and the overall experience justify the prices. We aim to highlight places that offer remarkable culinary experiences, sometimes that's in a market or on the side of the street like we showed while eating tlayudas and memelas, and other times that's in a high-end sit down restaurant. We value your feedback and will keep it in mind as we continue to create content. Our goal is to provide a diverse and engaging experience for our viewers, showcasing both popular attractions and hidden gems. Thank you for watching and supporting Tourist to Local.
That first dish alone was 680 pesos?! What the... I thought Mexico was supposed to be cheaper than the US. Not the same. Although I'm sure there are some super fancy places that are comparably priced.
This is all you would need from a girl, is this angelic personality! Unfortunately in Sydney, Australia 🇦🇺 its not that charming as it might seem 😅. Very lovely genuine couple, partners in crime! ❤🎉
I had intentions of going to Oaxaca but too many tourists there now, and also the crime rate has greatly increased outside the centro zone, unfortunately. But, there and Chiapas is basically one of the poorest areas in Mexico, so you can expect crime to go up.
Crime in Chiapas and Oaxaca?! Here we go again, the American government and media at its best! Lies and bad propaganda I can assure you that the “crime” in this states is a hundred times less than in any American city! We don’t need people like you in Mexico! I lived there for 8 months.
Hello, Great video of Oaxaca! 🙌💯🫡 Currently doing my Itinerary, in visiting this place. Where did you try the TAMAL OAXAQUEÑO 08:45, please? As I like to add this to my saved places in Google Maps. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Chapulines means grasshoppers not crickets. Crickets are grillos. 😊
So easy to get them mixed up 😅
Nicely done. How many entrees did you get for 680 pesos at La Quince Letras? Thanks.
Two entrees, 2 drinks, and a dessert if we aren't mistaken!

It’s cause they’re going to the fancy places where a lot of tourists go lol ! I’m from Oaxaca and The best food is where all the street venders are at
@@sheilasantibanez958 Want to be my street food guide when I visit in November?
We show the prices as a total for our entire meal (so the cost is for 2 plates + drinks)
