To make short, don't upgrade because the image quality on all pentax are the same. There you have it :)

Picked up a 645N with 55mm A, 75mm FA, and 120mm A macro last year. It had a broken plunger mechanism on the shutter speed control dial, so I 3D printed a replacement. Love this camera. I have since added the 45-85mm FA for fun. I wouldn't mind a 35mm, and one of the telephotos in the future, but for now, it's fantastic.

with the Pentax 67, there is also the issue of that mirror slap.Using my go-to Gold 200, I frequently shoot wide-open at 1/30 handheld. I don't think I can do this with the 67 (to be fair, I haven't tried it).

I’ve got Pentax 645 and four glasses: 45, 75, 150 and 200. Great camera and lenses. Tough as a tank, reliable, and the glasses are great. I sometimes use two adapters to fit the 75 and the 150 to my Sony A7Rii and there’re great. 15 minutes are not long. Love your work.

I invested significantly in a Pentax 567 system in the mid-1980s. Thereafter, I twice considered trading "down" to a 645 system, favoring the Pentax 645 at the time. I didn't follow through because of the lack of middle roll interchangeable film backs. By the way, his suggestion that if you buy a Pentyax 645, a good lens selection would be a Pentax 67 system 105mm 2.4 and an adapter to the 645 is frankly, nuts. First, the 105mm is designed to optically cover the 6x7 cm format, which is much larger than 645, and its performance in the smaller format is compromised, to say the least.
Second, of the several 67 system lens for the 67 which might be considered "normal" focal length, the 105mm is the oldest design and least optically capable of all. If you ditch the YT hype surrounding the lens, it is a 65 year old lens design, made a bit to fast to please the marketing department. Lenses made for the 645 mount and cameras will run rings around it, and at present ridiculous prices for the 105mm, you can buy a full outfit of 645 lenses, all of which will be far superior in optical quality.

Yes manual focus lenses are made of glass and métal précisions tools not like the FA that’s the main reason I keep my pentax 645 +A55 f2,8 + A135LS for high speed synchro. Thanks for your clear advices to the newbies

Hi. This is about the 645 battery compartment issue. Instead of the 4 AA batteries, the camera was adapted to work with a 9 volt battery. Is this weird? Have you ever heard of this? The camera seems to work, but I haven't shot a roll yet. What do you think?

I’m about to pick up a 645N and can’t decide on which lens to use. I’ve narrowed it down to the F 75 2.8, and the FA 45-85 4.5. Mostly for personal use, but also travel and portraits.
Can you help me decide? I’m open to other suggestions of lenses for around the same price.

Actually, he says almost nothing useful to choose between the three models, except that the later models are newer, which seems fairly apparent. While there are other detailed differences, the major ones are that the original 645 is getting pretty old now if you get an early. On the other hand anj early model lightly used might be preferred over a last model which has been used to death in a studio. Common to all: Power film advance, no interchangeable finders, no interchangeable film backs. The 645N added auto-focus. The 645Nii added a manual mirror release lacking the earlier models. The mirror lock up feature was not required as show by competent tests published when the Nii came out. Pentax added this to feature because they had taken a lot of negative publicity regarding possible vibration from mirror slap which was totally unfounded. Pentax put a sophisticated piston brake on the mirror on all three models which completely dampens out any mirror vibration.
