Hi Karen, I used to live in France and when I was taking my driving test I was so nervous that I did the same thing,I did not stop on the red light because of the traffic lights being on the side instead of above…

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am going through this as well and the stories I read/hear are just mind blowing. I can't even imagine how I will ever be able to do this. I only started learning French when we moved here so it's not great. Please keep us posted and bonne chance.

I hope your process was/is easier than mine. I think it does depend on which school you choose and what area you live in. Whatever happens, just remember that a lot of folks don't pass on the first try. Wishing you all the best!! Leave a comment with your progress!

haha yes, it is definitely not nothing. I'm working on a Tips video that I hope to post soon, and that one may be really useful to you as it's things I would've done differently if I had been more in the know. So stay tuned and best of luck!

You know of any good driving schools in Caen France…or Normandie? I speak excellent French….you know of any good French driving publications I could study in advance of comming to France? ( the French cousins don’t speak with me anymore…they are in retirement homes)…. Get some rest

I'd suggest checking out the Facebook Group "Americans Driving in France" -- there are people from all over, all very helpful! Bon courage :-)
