I watched the extended edition of LOTR the other day, the map was there, the trolls were there. Even in Moria, Gandalf mentions Thorin. There's links everywhere which is what makes the hobbit interesting :D
Hello Mr. Al! I am only seeing your comment now, July 2020, and very much appreciate your references. I will look for these as soon as possible as I often forget things these days. Not too old but lack focus. I didn't realize, that Gloin was one of the Dwarves at LoTR council. Probably not paying attention again. I'm interested in the LoRD Online you mentioned. I haven't seen any comments anywhere, on any of the channels dealing with the subject, which refer the the Online element. Is that a game or a series or what, I'll look it up to see but i just wanted to tell you thank you for insight. Good day.
I've been in love and in awe of Thorin Oakenshield since the day i first saw The Hobbit. And since i have several grandkids that I've recently introduced to the movies, I feel quite embarrassed when i have to "shoosh" them during his scenes.I almost believe they can see me blush! You're right, it IS like a stabbing in the heart. I've watched his death scene on the movie about12 times and in music videos countless times, just these past couple of years. I actually still weep each time. I can only liken the emotion to the loss of an old flame whom I never feel out of love with and never had closure before his passing. Except Thorin plays over in HD on purpose, often. I'm glad I'm getting older, I don't know how many more years i can take this! Lol
Even three years later, I am still delighted that Peter Jackson and the folks in New Zealand had the courage to tell the story of The Hobbit as J R R Tolkien had wanted it to be, including material from the Appendices to fit the tale into the flow of The Lord of the Rings. Every time I see some nincompoop copying the same old tired complaints from the RUclips videos about how the film does not follow the exact text of the originally published children's story, a quote from Bilbo Baggins comes to mind: "It still smells of troll!"
the fun part about the silmarillion, is that whilst there is so much.. All of that 'much' is written in just 2 or 3 lines. like "there was a battle and ___ and ___ died". For a movie, they can drag it out into a 30 min sequence. In short the silmarillion can be another 6 movies by it's self.
They’ll never get the rights to make a silmirilkian adaption and it won’t be by Peter Jackson it would probably be a botched Netflix, amazon exclusive show
To do justice to the book, the Silmarillion, from the beginning to the end, including stories such as Beren and Luthian, the children of Húrin, the fall of Gondolin, the Akallabêth, etc., etc., etc., about 24 films would be required.
The latter two movies are good, but Unexpected Journey was always the only one that really retained both the charm of the book and the special look/feel of the Lord of the Rings movies. Also the main theme is godly
Peter Jackson: But not a third time *10 years later* We are very pleased to announce that we will be visiting Tolkien's world once again with the Silmarillion, we casted Stephen Colbert as Eru Iluvitar

I love Radagast - the scene where he heals Sebastian using his magic is just soo wonderful. My heart races as he chants his spells and wizardry.
God, this film was a visual masterpiece, and he stuck really closely to the book. Plus the cast is AMAZING. ^_^ I think Tolkien would approve!
I think...watching and reading the hobbit and Lord Of the Rings stirs in some people a dream of adventure and freedom that simply does not exist in our lives...everyone should take an adventure where nothing is concrete and there is a little fear of the unknown...Im going travelling for 4 months next summer just myself and watching this stuff stirs up some emotions of excitement
just seen it yesterday and not a bad word to say!
I don't know why i laughed so much at this! thank you for brightening my day.
