Kinda intresting how family oriented S2 is tbh; Vax and Vex meeting their younger sister for the first time (as well as seeing they dad again), Keyleth meeting her dad while remembering her mom's words, Grog being forced to confront his bloodthirsty uncle, etc. It's makes a nice change of pace after all the suffering we saw Percy go through in S1 with him losing most of his family while his surviving sister (he thought was dead) got brainwashed plus let's not forget some of their dead relatives even got brought back as zombies... sheesh!
The contrast between season 1 being focused on Percy and season 2 giving pretty much all of Vox Machina a lot of backstory (except Percy obviously) is really cool because not once during season 1 do you wish they'd stop focusing on Percy to look at somebody else, the entire arc is about his backstory yet every character is captivating
This is literally how the live campaign went on stream. Percy (Taliesin Jaffe) created an entire page of backstory and Whitestone, which was the first thing they came into contact with. Then everyone's backstories was weaved into the campaign
The reason Pike's hair is white is because early in the campaign (before they even started streaming it) she died. When they revived her her hair was no longer black. When Travis was making his backstory he named his father Stonejaw Strongjaw which is such a stupid name you gotta smile.
I think his dad's name was improv'd. Iirc Ashley accidentally said "Stonejaw" instead of "Strongjaw" in-character while talking about Grog's dad, so they just went with it.
Before they started streaming the game, Pike was cut in half by a glabrezu (look it up) and her hair turned white when she was resurrected. (I think it was the first resurrection in the entire game.) Rescuing the royal family from demonic influence and possession was how they originally became heroes of Emon. I think the monster Scanlan illusioned was the same one Grog once ripped the tongue out with his teeth?
This is why I'm so excited for the Mighty Nein show! We start the Vox Machina adventure when they're around level 8. For Mighty Nein, we see them from beginning to end.
That's also why Sovereign Uriel Tal'dorei ended up making the decision to step down. The multiple instances of meddling in his mind led him to decide that having a single person in control of the nation was too great a risk.
