Hi guys, I will be here for the next 15 minutes to answer any questions you may have, sorry if I don’t get through everybody, we just had a new baby girl and time is short. Really hope you enjoyed this lesson :-)
congrats on your daughter dude! and you rock btw!!
Yeah congrats to you both Rob!
Gahdaydaw, slice tru dem strangs, was pretty good cajun french Rob, I'm impressed.... Oh, and great playing too, I guess.
Conga Rats. To you both. Once youve had 2, 3 is the same amount of work. My daughter is an engineeer, look into STEM for them if you have it in the uk.
Just want to point out that the final descending lick uses UPWARD pickslanting. You can tell because he only changes strings on a downstroke.
Basically, what this means is that aiming the point of your pick slightly toward the ground during that entire phrase will make your life a lot easier.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers!
Thanks Rob and Congratulations On The Baby 👍👍🎶🎶🎸Rock On Bro.
JohnJGibson6 thank you John, much appreciated - she is stunning :-)
@@RobChappers Oh snap, congrats, Rob!!
That tone!!!! Thanks for the video and congrats on the baby, man! 🎉👶🏻
This is absolutely my favourite Dorje Solo, glad you made the video on this
Rob is a love machine 😂😂😂 congratulations on the baby !!
Fantastic as always. Im sure some of those licks will come in handy! 👍🏻
What a great solo! And congrats on the baby!
Thank you so much, Mr.Chapman !
Something a lot of guitarists seem to forget is that the most important part of a guitar solo is actually an interesting rhythm part and room for a solo in the song itself. In the last band I was in, sometimes I had a good 16 bars to work a solo out, but more often than not it was 4 or 8 bars. In those instances, you just have to serve the song.
I love how organic your solos are, you never quite play them the same way twice. It's a pain in the ass for me trying to learn it but it's a really cool approach that reminds me of Nuno's playing.
Absolutely awesome
Good to see you teaching Rob
Adi Hughes hi dude, long time no see Hope you are doing well :-)
Thanks Rob, very good
You can be my wing-man any time Rob.
Awesome video! There have been a couple parts that I had to slow down to half speed but still working on it. Congrats on the baby!
Favourited!
This is my favourite Dorje song. It's so beautifully brutal.
Congrats on the birth of your daughter :)
davedaveii thank you very much dude much appreciated, I wrote this song absolutely years ago during a lightning storm so it’s pretty deeply etched in my memory.
@@RobChappers that's amazing, because there are thunderstorms here today!
Congratulation from me n family on new baby born master Rob.. thats a nice guitar..💪✌🎶🎶🤘🤘..
Very cool thanks Rob. ...
That axe, man! And sweet sweet SWEET tone too! also more Dorje plssss ❤️
Athenascars thank you dude, yeah I just love this guitar - more Dorje on the way with a new album that I am currently writing vocals for :-)
yEEEEEESSSS I thought the day would never come
Great lesson! Great playing!
Sieg Mac thank you sir, much appreciated - have a great day :-)
Thanks for this!
Had to play some parts at 25% speed but think I got it. Awesome solo man. I will probably be playing that in super slow mo for a long time lol.
MORE DORJEEEEEEEE 🙏🏻🥰🥰
Being melodic is the BEEEEEEST AND THE NEED FOR SPEED IS REAL MY FRIEND !! Im 33 so close in age.
Jinja_Rob thanks for watching dude, of course speed is essential “more is more” LOL :-)
Well i never asked but im glad You delivered!
How did you get the axe so shiny?
Congrats to the mother, all the best for the Baby and you.
Brother. Two children at once can be a total nightmare.
William Abdelnour hi William, so far so good I think I’ve been very lucky especially with having an amazing and supportive wife :-)
You are... amazing! - I’m the dude from Wayne’s world by the way. Ha
MODITES thank you dude, I wish you really were from Wayne’s world because I love that movie - having huge 90s flashbacks :-)
Does blocking off a Floyd rose actually work
I saw ur video I’m just unsure on the date tho
Yes it does. No need to buy a brand name trem block. Just get two pieces of scrap wood and tight fit them into both sides of the block. No need to glue them in, just make the fit really tight.
FIRST!!! LOVE YOUR VIDS ROB!!! CANT WAIT TO GET MY OWN CHAPMAN GUITAR!!!
Adam Troesch thank you dude, appreciate your support - when you get your new guitar make sure you give it a name, I think that’s important :-)
@@RobChappers You bet man! To Survive will be the first thing I play!
i would love a backing track to this pleaaaase. i've learned the solo all i need now is the backing track
1:50 New music next year?? Can’t wait!
Finally!
Dougie badge... stick stick stick stick sticky sticky stick stick 😜
Kick the tires (tyres) and light the fires!
Just a thought: That ML1 is gorgeous, but being in front of an open window with a strong light is probably not the best for us viewers.
Wido Giardullo Yeah sorry ha ha, should have shut the blinds :-)
honestly my favorite band is The Silver Thinkers, no one does a lesson on them, they have the best riffs and solos all in one song!!! please do a lesson on them!!!!!
jamal alami hi dude, I have never heard of them but will definitely check them out - thank you for the recommendation :-)
Rob Chapman trust me man their song 17 million has a killer riff and solo. The blue swing too. The solo there is really complicated really wish I could learn it !
Rob Chapman good sir what is that stunner of a guitar your using? The finish is sublime . What model and colour is this I feel this is the Chapman guitar for me.
james bruton hi James, this is a Chapman ML1 modern V2
james bruton I forgot to add that the colour is called Lunar \m/
hi rob great lesson what does dorje mean ?
That intro run was tasty. What gauge strings are you using rob? Do you find the gauge effects the speed of your playing at all
Dead Jesters hi dude, I use 10 to 52 gauge Paradigm strings down a semitone, I don’t really think the gauge makes much of a difference - set up and technique make the biggest difference overall.
Rob.....do you do any guitars in the same vain as a charvel pro mod at all.....I want one of yours really but I've not seen a charvel type mate?
Hey Rob, great song what guitar did you use to play the solo on the record?
yeehawtwistyarms Hi dude, I used two guitars, a Gibson Flying v and also an old Chapman ML1 from the original run :-)
Thanks Rob much appreciated
Y'know with the content you've been putting out recently(I like it just not alot in them that interests me) I kinda forgot you can still rip.😅 Suppose this kind of craic is time consuming to film and edit. Love your vids.
Jopeymess Music it does take quite a long time, good job I absolutely love shooting videos and playing guitar - it’s also much easier when you know the part you are teaching off by heart. Thanks for watching :-)
Phase 5 really is Chappers "The Lick" 🤘
Thumbs up for the badass face and pick throw at the end of the solo \m/
Daniel Saturnino thanks dude, would be really funny if somebody made a compilation video of pick throws to see if I get more accurate as the years went on!
I'll be your wingman
I have a question, how do you go about getting the best metal tone for soloing?
Eric Kvam Make it brighter than you think you need, lots of mid and volume \m/
need for speed... teeth chomp... we're here!
i could never figure out how you got phrase 4 so damn clean but its because you only pick twice in the whole thing!
Chris Wills less is more, although sometimes more is more ha ha!!
@@RobChappers "how can less be more? its impossible....more is more"
Please finish a “complete” tutorial on White Dove!!!
Shane Kennemore I think it would be better if Rabea did that one since he plays the second “Main” solo (I play the soft one during the breakdown)
Rob Chapman sounds like a great idea for a collaborative video!!
When and what’s next for dorje??
U_Say_What_Fool we are currently finishing off writing a new album. At the moment I am working on the vocals in the time I have around having a new baby, got another three tunes to write vocals for then I think we will begin preproduction.
Rob Chapman great to hear man, I realise your a busy guy so well done on keeping it balanced. Can’t wait for dorje stuff though, I’ll definitely buy it.
rob why don't you make chapman amps that would be awesome if u made various models all tube different wattages at affordable prices say like 50 120 160 and 200 watt heads and combos with massive buttload of gain on them but with great tone
thrashfan4ever I would love to do this, it’s just quite an expensive venture at the moment I really think Chapman Guitars/Snake Oil needs my full attention before I start expanding :-)
I feel like rob wants us to buy a V2 ml1 modern...........
Talk to me goose.
Nissan570Lsx Ice Water!!!
Is that a green version of your signature pick?
davedaveii that is correct sir well spotted :-)
@@RobChappers the charcoal version is my favourite pick. I had almost a year or of playing guitar, but I carried it with me everyday (it made it through several washes 😂😂).
Pick hammer hammer pick pick pick
Pick hammer hammer pick pick pick
Hip-hop Rob
In your age group mate!
SonsofRobotMonster DestroyingSince1953 I’m not really sure what this means, but thank you for commenting on watching the video
gurrrrrrrrrEEhteengs
Love the self promotion lmao
Long story short, what is your guitar tune? D, A, D, g, b, e, or something else?
JPR C#, G#, C#, F#, A#, C#
@@RobChappers Thanks dude! 👍
Lol sounds like the G-String tuning note was out of tune :D
I'm confused. Is that guitar blue or black?? It's supposed to be black right, but in the video with Rabea it also sometimes looked a little blue... Please enlighten me
Roan Molkenboer interestingly finding a pure black is very difficult, they tend to either be blue or green this is a blue tinged black.
Just keep your shirt on Ice Man
What guitar have you bought your daughter?
Zach A I’m on that mission... was thinking either a custom Chapman or a Firebird X
the firebird X 🤣
The title and the thumbnail text are the wrong way round
I've never learned a solo because, for the most part, i just don't like them, i'm all about the riddim.
My favourite solo is in Hellraiser by Zakk Wylde (i assume it's him).
Runner up is Bea's solo in Aeromancy, mostly because of the video where you're trying to record it ruclips.net/video/7bwtrH3EQeU/видео.html
I’ll hit the brakes, he’ll fly right by....
You delivered? What a joke. I order my left handed ghost fret in February. It has gotten pushed out every month. That last time it was supposed to be 8/27 now 9/5. So we went from May, to June to July, then August, and now September. Maybe it's time to cancel the order like others I know. You have shown without a doubt that you cannot play with the big boys. Go back to all the mom and pop shops that supported you, that now can't carry your line, and compete with GC. Even though I wouldn't call it compitition since you can't deliver. You have soured a lot of potential customers.
Roadking26 hello, I am sorry you have had a bad experience waiting for a guitar that wasn’t in stock.
I think it’s very important here for me to explain how retail works because it does sound as if you may be slightly misled.
The retail stores purchased the guitars directly from our factory. If your retail store doesn’t have a guitar it’s because they didn’t buy it from the factory... that would not be the fault of Chapman guitars.
I hope that clears up the issue for you, maybe find another retailer nearby who has one in stock.
Kind regards
Rob
@@RobChappers Then you should know how Guitar center is supplied, or is it third party? You made the deal, you should know the supply method for a central Wharehouse. Not individual store. When you made the deal you made agreements about supply. I ordered it in February it being due in May. It has been pushed out every month since then. I have been working with one of the VP's at GC. He said it may be time for them to call the factory.
Click.....watches first minute........ah f**&&^^*&@...sigh.
vinchenzo19 give it a try dude, you may pick something up and surprise yourself - never just don’t give it a go because you think it’s something you can’t manage.
@@RobChappers You're right Chappers and i will. Congratulations on your new arrival mate. All the best to the family.
Rob chappers stop with the squeally harmonics. They make your playing sound juvenile. And it's a fast lick it's not ridiculously fast by any means
Anthony Demmons thank you for your comment Anthony, it’s important obviously to replicate the solo on the album so the squeal had to stay. Whether or not something is juvenile is In the ears of the beholder.
I look forward to seeing your rendition of the “not ridiculously fast run” that I’m sensing you can’t play... consider that a challenge son, your ego is writing checks that your body can’t pay (that’s a Top Gun quote)
@@RobChappers I don't do videos. But fast licks and much faster licks tend to come easy for me. However I might steal that lick just before your so-called ridiculously fast run
What an ass hat 😂
Clickbait titles from a youtuber i’ve been following for years are a tad bit annoying. I’d watch your vids either way mate
But he is delivering brah
Elijah Parrella sorry dude, obviously these are not aimed at longtime supporters, the recent changes in RUclips algorithms have forced me to reach out with tactics to attract new viewers...
