Yep, I own a 2017 Sport and Big Disco. The only problem is of course the maintenance, but that said, you know what you are getting and they are enjoyable on and off-road.
Buy a good battery charger and diagnostic tool if you buy one. The battery doesn't get charged on short commutes causing the low battery warning. Weak battery causes other electronic issues. Charge it once a week over night and do a reconditioning charge twice a year. The diagnostic tool allows you to set features, reset sensors and lets you know what's going on when you get a warning light. Your life with Land Rover will be much more bearable.
The small pocket is where the pre-2021 builds had side vents, instead of center console vents in the rear. They also came with third row vents and low speed transfer case standard.
Becoming increasingly interested in the “new” Discovery. We’ve had a Discovery 4 since new (2012). It has the 3.0 V6 Turbo Diesel engine and has been spectacularly comfortable, flexible and reliable. In ten years and 120,000 miles we’ve replaced one water in fuel sensor and two MAF sensors - none of these left us stranded and were dealt with under warranty. We’re moving from The UK to Canada soon and are wondering what to buy when we get there. If the new Diesel engines were available in Canada, there wouldn’t be a question but as they’re not sold in the North American markets, we’ll have to wait and see.
I just picked up my second LR Disco 5. Love 'em. However, after just one week, the low battery level warning light has come on the dashboard. Oh boy. Here we go with the LR lifestyle 🤦♂
These are starting to look more and more like the Minions from behind. I wish they could broaden it a touch. My kids point it out every time we see one now I cant unsee it. The car looks awesome inside.
I’m currently deciding between a new Discovery 5 HSE or a Kia EV9 GT. What would you choose?! 🤔 I love the fact that the Disco can go off-road and I really like the looks. On the other hand I’m torn about the reliability. The EV9 I also really like plus I love the fact that it’s electric.
Having owned several RR and LR models, I can't put my wife in one of these with potential warning lights at any time. I ended up taking over the last LR4 because it had too many small issues that a person who knows nothing about cars would be more concerned than necessary. I'm sure I'm not alone on this one. Would love to have a newer Disco, but trust issues prevailed. I went with a Lexus GX460 for her. I still have the LR4
The odd cubbies on the B pillars is where the heater vents used to be. It looks like they down graded the HVAC distribution when compared to my 2018 Td6.
That pocket isn’t a pocket, but the space for air vents if you pay for multizone climate control Also you can option a better Meridian sound system, looks like this Discovery 5 isn’t the usual fully loaded press vehicle Pity you guys don’t get the best version of this Discovery 5, the D300 3litre engine 🚜👍🏻
I think Land Rover builds awesome vehicles but after watching hundreds of nerd car video's and dealing with the owners issues and value meltdown I just can't get past the eye candy, not interested.
Great video, I have late 16 plate discovery 4 ( LR4) landmark, and I won’t be buying discovery 5 but will be buying defender 110 though as it’s more Lr4 for me . Regards mark
I have some problems with the rear view of the disco. I really do prefer the disco sport or even a defender 90, no need for brutally big inner space or 3rd seat row. But I also have my issues with the rear end of the Velar. 🤷♂️ But it doesn’t matter much as they are all well above my budget. Saying that, I think Either US people spend a big part of their income in cars or I don’t see the point in driving a 70k+$ SUV. 🤷♂️
If you have a big family or a certain lifestyle there is need for big interior space and a third row seat. If you had the income to purchase a vehicle of this price then I think you would see the point in doing it.
@@benpenrice765 As I’ve said the rear of that car is not my favourite, if I had the need and the money for such a car I might search for something different in the first place.
@@e-redj indeed it’s an acquired taste which is why it’s probably ignored by a lot of people. Still an amazing car all round with the best of both worlds when it comes to luxury, capability and practicality in my opinion. Just depends on the looks as you say
Great review, but I love the Discovery much more than the Defender. Those that buy Defenders are people who want the perception that they can drive on the Serengeti. People who buy Discoveries value luxury and style. I still have my 2002 Discovery 2, and it looks showroom new.....
lol! That's all anyone has to say and it's over inflated. When are people going to get over the unreliability? Sure it's not a Toyota but it's not the right comparison. Land Rovers are in a whole different class. Name another car that is as capable off road and luxurious all around. It ain't a jeep, those things are basically a side by side that can barely go on the highway.
Yea it's part of the game. Almost bespoke vehicles. Barely mass produced when compared to even other luxury brands. They are super cool! Fun to drive. It's more than one vehicle in one in many ways.
Really interested in a 7 seat somewhat off road capable vehicle vehicle that has 400 miles range and another jerrycan with 5 gallons gives you another 180 miles of margin. Lmk when this becomes a viable option for $50k
Perhaps I am an idiot but isnt “off road” when you get off the pavement? Maybe thats just Alaskans call it. Why spend the entire video speaking about its on pavement driving dynamics? You have the wrong auto for that dude.
Great vehicle - Discovery Sport has been a joy to own these past 6 or so years, an absolute pleasure ❤

What? For real? Thanks for the tip! I appreciate it

The Discovery 5 came to the North America market with the 3.0 TD6 from 2017-2020. I have a 2018 HSE Lux in the US and like it quite a lot!
Lexus is the best
Ilove these vehicles, everything I need in a car, power, size, height, comfort and all the accessories. I will never buy anything else moving forward
In the market for this vehicle. Wondering how long it will take to arrive if I order
I just picked up my second LR Disco 5. Love 'em. However, after just one week, the low battery level warning light has come on the dashboard. Oh boy. Here we go with the LR lifestyle 🤦♂
Same. Lol mine is CPO with loads of warranty left. Appointment scheduled
Good question there in the intro. Now that the Defender is fully independent suspension and unibody the lineup is now more similar than ever.
These are starting to look more and more like the Minions from behind. I wish they could broaden it a touch. My kids point it out every time we see one now I cant unsee it. The car looks awesome inside.
Land Rover certainly nailed the design, Range Rover too.
Problem though Kyle with the V8 LR4s is they have the older 6-speed not the better 8-spd that debuted with the supercharged V6

That hole in the rear pillar seems to be an air vent but missing the vanes inside
How long is it to wait for a Land Rover 130 Defender in the US?

Can you do a review for a 2020
Range Rover?
whats your eye glasses brand ?
How much is the Discovery 2023 modele.

13:50 thank you, I have been looking for this answer. Where can we flash the ECU for this thing?
Proud of Tata Motors for this great car 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
Lol Jaguar/Ford engine, Jaguar chassis, Land Rover designers, Tata funding.
Tata just owns it they dont make it bro lol
I think Land Rover builds awesome vehicles but after watching hundreds of nerd car video's and dealing with the owners issues and value meltdown I just can't get past the eye candy, not interested.
Nice video, good info. Time to trade the 2009 RRSport HSE?

Doesn’t Land Rover use some BMW engines?
Not at present, the new 2022 Range Rover will for the V8’s though
nice looking, but wish it were a BEV
Great review of the Discovery, as always, Kyle and team.

it was until the defender stole the show
If you guys have a Discovery Sport this is a nice upgrade, this video is a D5 review not sport so please do not compare this to a Disovery Sport 😂
Just put wife on youtube she is great.
Basically, a Tata Safari.
discovery looks great, but i heard it is not reliable. so hesitate to buy one
.....my first thought was, is this electric? 🤣
Why would you think this was electric? Haha
Eh…seems slow
Land Rover is one of the most unreliable cars. Im a bit disappointed you are suggesting it as a good car
It's an Over glorified Ford Explorer
They are so unreliable don’t waste your money
Is that true?

I’ll just save you 25 minutes of your life and money. They are junk. Don’t bother.
ICE Berg
Why review dying cars like this large gas SUV? Last one someone will be purchasing.
They’re not dying, they’re only becoming more popular!

not everywhere is LA or New York, fool
I love this Car to
