Man...just had to rewatch after viewing your recap. Heartbreaking moment of the episode...Jack plaintifly pleading "please go away" to the entity in the form of his mother.
Love this show and I know I'm in the minority but that sequence took me out of the show a little bit. It was borderline comical to me. I had to remind .myself that it's a Stephan king adaptation
Theory on Ralph seeing his son. I personally believe that the entity disguised himself as his son and told him " you have to let me go " because the case revolves around a child who died around the age of Ralph's son when he passed away. The entity knows that's whats driving him to find out the truth.
Love your breakdowns, I’ll throw out a clue no one has caught or at least not discussed; no scene or shot in this show is wasted, in episode 1 when talking to Claude at the station, particular note is made of the tattoos on Claude’s fingers. Since that episode several shots of Claude’s hands have been made and there are NO tattoos. Suggests to me that though the outsider can genetically shift it can’t create an add on like tattoos and the outsider has been masquerading as Claude almost the entire series. Not only manipulating Jack psychologically but physically watching him at the club. There is also a very short interaction later b/w Ralph and Claude at the club which Ralph ends very abruptly as if he gained no new info from Claude, or did he? When you go back and watch it’ll blow your mind!
Yeeessssss! I had to go back and rewatch episode 1 for that. They definitely caught very apparent shots of claudes finger tatts AND even talked about them for a specific amount of time when Ralph was interviewing him! It will be interesting to see this play out. Still would like to know when and how he was “cut”. Their hands were not shown in the scene at the strip club when the terry doppelgänger was talking to Claude in the strip club.
Last week’s episode was a bit slow, but last night’s made up for it. I’m enjoying the slow burn and your recaps have become part of my “Monday morning get ready for work” routine.
The explanations of the “creature” and nobody believing it until it’s too late mirrors the book nicely. Of course they can’t fit everything into the show but it’s still a great adaptation. The last scene of the show was tense af. I wonder will the show end like the book?
Hard to argue against it, since outside of Ralphs son, things have been similar from show to book. But. Think of the last 4-5 SK adaptations. It, pet sem, ect. Theyve all changed his endings.
Thank you for this!!!! Great breakdown and it helps me stay focused on the story, so far the actors are awesome and can’t wait to see the next episode!!!
I want to start by saying I truly appreciate all the hard work you and your team put into making these videos. Your thoughtful analysis and top notch editing makes for a truly insightful tool to better understand the shows and movies that confuse me the most. I did want to ask if you guys have noticed that the boils on the neck seem to be more active when the outsider is in control of there actions. May not be the most significant detail but interesting nonetheless!
Aaron Cornish the rash goes away when jack is doing what the outsider wants jack to do. When jack disobeys, the blisters n pain get worse. I dont think Jacks actions are all controlled. Or else he’d of taken care of holly n not suffered a beat down at the hands of his mom. But when the blisters are raging, he does things he doesnt want to do, creating the impression that he is being controlled.
Did you guys notice in the trailer for last this episode they showed Ralph's wife burning the chair.. but I didnt see that at all .. I still think El Cuco has taken her blood from when she stepped on the glass and she is going to be the last transformation of El Cuco
BEASTBLOOD UNLIMITED , perhaps but Id highly doubt it. It only transforms into people it scratches. And that takes time. Since the boy at the beginning died, the whole show its been turning into the strip club bouncer and its still not him yet. Theres zero time to finish this change then change again. The walking on glass signified she had no control over her body. The blood doesnt mean anything.
Love your videos. Didn’t start watching this show until I saw you were making videos. It’s really good so far. I wish IT was done in a series like this.
Yeah me too, good thing is there’s only 4 episodes left so I think after what might be the Demise of Jack next time we could see it finally out and a main character
Surprised you didn't mention anything about Yunis Sablo. Very interesting how he's following the strip club owner so closely. Anxious to see how that situation develops. Yunis uttered something inside the car as he was spying on the strip club owner but i'm still unsure what he said....
The book was incredible. The series has drawn me in, last week was a little slow, sometimes it feels repetitious. But I really enjoyed this last episode. I hope they don't change much more.
The book and show diverge pretty widely here at episode 6. I am interested to see if they build the Ralph/Holly relationship like they did in the book. Probably one of the best parts of the last 150 pages of the book
Nice review as usual. I do feel the episode had a lot of repetition from the previous episodes. I do like when Holly explains about the outsider, they all think she is crazy, as the series is clearly real world based. The mythology of the monsters is well explained. Watch out for flying Mothers!!!!!.
I think this might have been the best episode so far and I can't wait for the next one. This show has really got me hooked which is surprising to me in some ways because I don't read the king novels. I also couldn't really get into IT but watched it anyway. I've read this isn't supposed to be one of Steven kings strongest pieces of work but it sure has made for one great television show.
So I’ve gotten my entire family to watch this show on demand. This past Sunday at my moms house there was like 15 people watching. This episode didn’t disappoint
Why did Glory say she wanted to hear what Holly had to say and then not 3 minutes later starts screaming at her and freaking out? That made no sense to me !
@@SamsMediaCenter i disagree. Some people are just not gonna believe. Holly believes cause all evidence points to it. Others didnt cause they didnt want to. People believe what they want and choose to look over evidence
I also think it is a cultural thing. I am hispanic and I tell you what I would almost instantly believe because I was raised with folk tales and spooky things.
Thanks for another great review. A lot of comments about the pacing...I don't know...it feels just right. So, is it precisely 27 or does it maybe follow the lunar calendar? It certainly would follow another boogeyman/werewolf.
Question, did anyone find it’s strange that the outsider was a projection at Ralph’s house when he visited Ralph’s wife so how did he leave residue if he was never really there?
You are awesome! This was a great breakdown. You explained every important detail in this episode. Talking about this episode I loved the way Holly put everything together. She is one intense & smart woman. I am confused about a couple of things 1) Terry scratched the bartender from episode 1 so is he turning into that entity? if not, why is he in the limelight? Does he have blisters on his neck? 2) Jack got blisters on his neck. Jack is getting messages from the entity to kill Holly. Is this real Jack or the entity Jack? if it is entity jack why is he still having blisters on the back of his neck? So how many entities are running around? Jack and bartender? or only Jack or only bartender? I am sorry. I know you mentioned Jack in the video. I am kind of overwhelmed after watching that engrossing episode. I am a little confused. But wow! what a TV show. I am at the edge of my seat after each episode. And this episode had a scary ending. I really hope Holly survives. Rooting for her. And I hope Ralph shows more faith. Right now he doesn't seem too interested in her theory. I am eagerly waiting for the next episode. Thank you once again for the wonderful video.
Ey thank you! There’s just one running around, I think it’s the strip club bouncer though. It only scratches its slaves so the bouncer won’t have any. The real Jack is the one we see in the episode. Hope this clears it up

Was Holly Gibney African-American in Stephen King’s novels? I don’t recall this being the case. Or was this HBO’s invention so the series wouldn’t have an all-white cast? No wait, Holly was played by Justine Lupe in Mr. Mercedes. Justine is white, so they change her race.
Erner Werkhardt , I believe shes white in the book and is white on Mr Mercedes. Theres a few reasons why this happens. In THIS case, her race doesnt matter much and I think HBO wanted the best actress possible. Mission accomplished. Another reason this happens in other adaptations is king writes what he knows.
