    Just bought a Toto Drake, same model as yours. Your info was exactly what I needed to install this myself. I really liked the tip on the ""Better Than Wax" gasket. Rock on Dude !!!

    I am working on a home remodel and never knew how hard it was shopping for toilets! I am considering buying two of these toilets. Thank you for the video and your honest review.

    Good video. I bought two of these from Costco to replace my 4-year-old toilets, which got stained from Iron, and never flushed that well (kurse you kolher). Did you seal around the base flange with clear silicone?

    Loved all your points on toilets.
    I bought a Toto Drake also.
    Save up a couple bills. It's worth it!

    Got the same toilet, And the same "Better Than Wax" seal, And my toilet flange also sticks up above the floor the standard 1/4". I used the Fluidmaster toilet seal without the extra foam spacer - just the rubber gasket with the thin foam part that is pre-attached and I find my Toto Drake bowl won't sit flush to the tile floor. I've tightened the hold-down nuts very slowly, alternating side-to-side while sitting on the bowl to add some compression weight.
    I've done this over two days so far, and finally it's getting close to not having any free wobble at all. Right now, it's just an almost imperceptible tiny bit, but I'm going to give it another day to hopefully compress just the last tiny bit more. Did you have any issues like that - other than the leveling you needed to do at the end?

      @rednecklite  10 месяцев назад +1

      Can't say that I did, though having a pier & beam house my floor has a little more "give" than a slab foundation on tile. My last house had a slab foundation, but the flange was flush/slightly below. If you can't get it to level off or not wobble, you could probably use some shims as spacers on the sides, front and rear to get a solid foundation and raise that little 1/8 or however much you need. Caulk it real good to cover the gap and it should look find I'd think.

      Love it, it's actually been about 2 months since I actually installed it. Flush is great, stays clean too. Very happy with it, will probably order again to replace the other toilet in my house.

    how about toilet mold? easy to clean?

    • @rednecklite
      @rednecklite  6 месяцев назад

      Definitely easier than my other older toilet- it doesn't have that lip where all the gross builds up and it's hard to get to, the water flush channels are all smooth and very easy to clean completely.

      @@rednecklite Is it still in, like, mint condition? Also, what's the deal with rimless toilets? Any drawbacks there?

    • @rednecklite
      @rednecklite  6 месяцев назад

      @@pocitube If anything it has been only positive. The flush pattern covers the whole bowl and the lack of a rim makes it much easier to keep clean. Every other toilet with a rim no matter how much i scrub always grows crap underneath. This toilet is very easy to keep clean. Very pleased, still in mint condition.

    Do you still recommend this toilet? I need to buy one for my new bathroom. Your old one still looks new. It might have clog up jets which can clean with vinegar.

    • @rednecklite

      I do, after a year or so it actually stays remarkably clean for a long time. The "tornado flush" works! Have had zero problems. Eventually I'm going to replace my other toilet with the same model.

    You should put a garbage bag underneath the toilet to move it then you can toss the whole thing out.

    I'm kinda surprised... for a $1,000+ toilet I thought it would be quieter and no splash at all in the tank. But it flushes nice.

    I read reviews that said, "Seat is designed like a funnel and is extremely uncomfortable." and "Included seat is funnel-shaped, squeezes my butt bones and front edge cuts into my legs." Any comments on the seat?

    • @rednecklite
      @rednecklite  2 года назад +3

      I was concerned myself when I saw some of the pictures and read the reviews, but in person it looks like just a regular seat, and is plenty comfortable. I could see where it might be uncomfortable for larger folks but I'm happy with it.

    Should of used plastic shims, the wood will eventually rot out creating a wobbly toilet.

    These new low flow toilets wont flush the smallest bit of feces or toilet paper. I had to replace all the toilets in my new house with 40 year old 5 gallon per flush toilets. The 40 years old toilets are vastly superior and save water over low flow toilets. The new 1.6 gallon per flush toilets had to be routinely flushed 10-12 times to get everything to flush. This equates to 16-19 gallons per "flush". The 40 year old toilets use 5 gallons per "flush". Society is going backwards big time. My house came with these exact toilets. terrible.

      Going through the same thing. I have this toto. Its the worst. They don’t make them like they used to. Is anyone actually monitoring water usage since these new restrictions were put in place? We have to be using more water with multiple flushes. What exact 40 year old toilet did you get? Need something else besides these 1.6 or 1.28 garbage toilets

      @@AXXXXA They are basic American Standards from the mid1970's. They were from the skyboxes of the old Tampa Stadium before it was torn down. It used to be right next to Raymond James Stadium. They let people grab all the fixtures/just about anything they wanted for free before tear down. My buddy has a shipping container full of them on his property. It only cost me a full day of scrubbing and 4 Fluidmaster toilet rebuild kits. If I ever move again...the toilets are not included in the sale!
