One thing I love about Cameron's community, is no matter what car he posts about that he does or doesn't like they always support. this video has near 1k views now with near 100 likes, no dislikes
The hatches were always my favorite WRX’s. I wish Subaru would bring them back. Those wheels do fit that body style much better than the sedan they came off of.👌🏽 plus you can’t beat that old school Boxer motor sound. The new ones don’t sound like that. Edit..always leave manuals in gear when you shut them off, lol!!
The hatchback might come back. Look up the 2022 Subaru wrx teaser video. There’s a part where you pause it, you can see the outline of what appears to be a hatchback shape, it’s just hard to tell because there’s so much dirt in the video and the camera isn’t focused in on it well, but we’ll find out in about 15 days when Subaru finally unveils it at the New York auto show.
That's one of my fave bodies/configs for the wrx, that 4dr hatch is just so good looking. Wide body looks sick, but I honestly don't understand the hate on a "narrow" body.
You leave the car gear for Safety purposes because if you park on a incline and your parking break fails your car will Roll down the hill if it’s not in gear. In a automatic car park basically leaves the car sorta kinda in gear because it puts a parking peg in a gear preventing the car from moving if the parking break fails. So it’s basically a fail safe for both if you’re parking break fails. Hopefully that helps. My parking break has failed twice on my 2001 Corvette so I always personally make sure to leave it in gear.
That’s my dream car and I will be getting one this week. I am so excited!!! I have been dreaming about this car since I was 8 years old because my dad just to own one when I was 10, he was a rally car racer so that’s why I love cars.
just sold my 9th subaru wrx which is the same model as this one. I think it will be my last haha. amazing cars, very reliable and all of mine were typically 300whp, and have been documented on my channel just having more fun with rwd these days, but there will always be a subaru sized hole in my heart :P
Awesome video Cameron! That’s one nice car!! The owner was a super nice young man! I loved how willing and nice he was to let you drive his baby!! I love that we all have different cars, different taste in cars and different budgets but the cool thing is the love and passion for cars is the same! Keep up the incredible content Cam!! God bless! 😀🙏🏻🚙👍🏽
Great job introducing us to other cars Cam. Almost bought a WRX STI but went with the Si instead. Both are good, fun cars. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Good review...and I personally never left my car in neutral when it’s parked, especially with a e brake switch Hahahaha, seriously stressed listening to you guys.
We leave a car in gear while it's off so the car doesn't move when parked. For instance, u parked on a hill, u would leave it in first just in case ur e brake fails, the car doesn't roll backwards. Same as if u park ur car downhill or slight hill, u should leave it in reverse so if the the e brake fails, your car wont roll forward. 😉
I got a narrow body 2010 wrx, currently making 470whp on a built motor and a 3071r bb turbo, let him know that the clutch squeak is the firewall, they have 5 spot welds and they suck to balls and need to get it rewelded or drill the stock spot welds and replace them with bolts
@@mavallarino probably not, I used humblerumble bolts, basically bolts with a Allan key hole in them and a bolt so you don’t have to strip the entire dash to get to it, just drill it out and fish a wire through. Few videos up on RUclips about it. But do check your clutch pedal near where it goes through the firewall. Mine also had a crack in it with the spot welds being cracked
The older generation is wise. Among other reasons already listed, leaving it in gear on a relatively flat surface allows u to minimize wear and tear on the e brake. Don’t even need to use it.
So I had a situation that happened to me. I had my car parked at work. Someone bumped into my car and it rolled and side swiped anther car and rolled into the woods at the back of the parking lot and hit a tree. Of course the person who hit my car drove away. So I was not able to catch them. I had to get two tow trucks to lift my car out of the woods so they didn't wreck my ground effect moulding. I reported the accident to cop whom gave me a strong talking to as it appeared my car was not in gear and my e brake failed. So long story short, always park car in gear with e brake. Kind regards, Race Mom
I just bought one of these at 19 working 30 hour weeks and mine was sitting in a field for 8 months and I knew nothing about the car but going through the paper work whilst taking it apart I found that the engines been built full forged internals and I’m in the UK so it’s covered in spiders and moss but it’s come up good. It’s been my favourite Subaru for so long mines world rally blue with the gold alloys
I never leave my car in gear when I shut it off. I know I should as an extra safety measure in case the ebrake fails, but I’ve just gotten into the nasty habit of keeping it in neutral, so whenever I try to leave it in gear, I find myself stalling it constantly forgetting I’m in gear.
leaving a car in gear has a purpose, if youre forward facing lets say down a hill, leave it in reverse incase the handbrake fails, and leave it in first if the nose is inclined.
I have the same car and the firewall ending up flexing and cracking. The subaru shop told me it was an issue with that year. I was wonderig if he had ever dealt with any issues similar to that.
i owned an 05 sti up until two years ago when it unfortunately got totalled. i have since then moved to a brz and sure, it's nowhere near as fast, but the driving experience is just too good.
I too have an 09 hatch wrx, in gray. The motor on it was bad and got it for dirt cheap. I've swapped it for a jdm ej20x (i think a legacy gt motor) since and i've noticed a dip in power but still fun to drive. I have the old turbo still (which is bigger). Might swap it and do some mods for a little bit more power. Not really sure how I should go about it though.

My Kubota RTV-XG850 Sidekick utility vehicle has a 40 horsepower Subaru engine in it. It’s good so far. I think Kubota actually ended up buying the engine plant. Don’t quote me on that.
