GREAT episode . I am a historian of Southern California Culture. Most people outside of California don't know this, but to the average citizen, 1960s America looked at Surfing, Skateboarding, Hot Rods, Bikers, etc as a rebellious underground culture . It did not help that these cultures embraced symbols like Iron Crosses, Swastika, Nazi helmets as part of their identity . The Biker movement also used this as part of their garb. It really had nothing to do with racism , nor did it mean "bringing back momento's from WW2" . In retrospect, I feel that it was like Rock & Roll, Heavy Metal, Punk Rock - an added way for the cultures to shock the average Joe. Furthermore , in addition to what George stated, along with Woodies and Station Wagons, Surfers loved to use old Hearses for transportation. I know of an instance where my friend had a 1955 Pontiac Hearse in an upper scale 1960s neighborhood of Whittier , California. His neighbors petitioned the city to make him get rid of the car. His parents spoke in front of city council , explained that it was part of the Surfer Culture, and that he was a good kid, with good grades. The City threw the petition in the trash. I felt that it was necessary to add a bit of history in to George's fascinating life story. Keep up the great work!
George, You have always been a great communicator and story teller. While I am no RUclips expert, I have to say you're doing its right. Glad to see you have reinvented yourself, It's not easy to do that at our age. Take care my friend.
You''re right. For a short time I was a friend of George. We were locked up together for a few months. I was not a HA fan. None the less I was impressed with George Christie's personality, memory, and ability to communicate. In my opinion George Christie is a great guy, a great friend, and a great person and as a result must have been a great HA.
Hi George I lived in Ventura, Oxnard, and Ojai. From the late 80s until 2000. I'm really enjoying your stories. You have the best memory! It's bringing back memories for me, I lived off the Avenue, on Pierpont and in Ojai. I used to bartend at the Star Lounge, lol. That place was wild! I also bartended at the Deer Lodge and at the Ojai Valley Inn. I love that part of California, it's paradise❤ I'm 60, a little younger than you, but I remember seeing members from time to time. I've been binging on your videos, thank you for sharing your very interesting life! I live in Cottonwood Arizona now, I wish we never left Ventura♡ I used to wait tables with a gal who was involved with a Berdew member, she told me some wild stories ;*)
My Grandpa was the same way with other people. He hated no one, but had such love for his Irish roots that beyond our family, there was no room for others. That tight family structure has been a survival method for centuries. ✌️
Nice how u spoke on Greek heritage my Italian family was the same…refused to teach me italian said we r in America now and r American NO more Italian in the household
Being from NJ I would have never put outlaws and surfers together... I thought that's more like an oxymoron... learn something new everyday! Looking forward to more content... cheers
I had walk 10miles one summer in with my mom and my brothers to pick berries , my Dad was in Washington just started a welding job. I know how that goes.

Everyone thinks their nationality is the best. Until they come to America and realize Americans citizens are the best.
