The stackable volumes are extremely clever! Keep developing that system and it will become a convenient way to tweak the shape of big modern holds without buying all their variants... I'll get some of those volumes for my homewall to try them out, maybe then buy a bigger set for the gym
You and Alex boosting Wooden holds is great. Thanks for supporting that type of holds. Creating wooden holds on my own and owning classic holds, i can confirm better dan plastic 😅
Oh I am so stoked about this! I'll move in a new apartment in february and my plan is to make a huge homewall with lots of wood. These holds seem like a must! Also the modularity of the volumes gives a lot more options to transform a homewall! Love the design too! Congratulations!
@@Euroholds I was actually just about to comment about this as well since the volumes looked like they had no washers and over many cycles of adding/removal the wood would eventually tire out. So great to see that you had already added washers! :)
Of course the volumes have bomber proof metal inserts on every fixing point. The volumes are the highest quality out there, with a very reasonable price. ;-)
Maybe i'm not the prime target for those kinds of holds but, if you're gonna make a wooden hold, why would you add resin on it ? For me the point of wooden holds is that you can train a lot on it and basically not lose any skin.
Totally agree. What's the point in having a wooden hold if your skin isn't actually touching wood at the point of contact? The blades aren't what I'd call a 'wooden hold'.
I've been experimenting with wooden holds for a while now. Would really be interested in how they do the textured part of the holds. Got some good results myself, but not as clean and homogeneous like seen here :( But I guess that's a company secret 😄
Don’t add the texture. Wood holds are special because they do not have aggressive texture. What’s the point of using wood if your going to get your skin wrecked?
When applying friction to a structure (normally wood or fiberglass), manufactures usually spray 2K thermoset polyester plastic on the desired surface, and then drizzle quartz- or glass dust on the surface before it sets. But watch out with utmost care if you plan on proceeding with your project and plan on handeling thermosets on spray, since they contain isocyanates and other evil substances that are extremely harmful for your body and the environment. :)
As far as I know most volumes are made of wood, and often have pretty decent texture (sand?) whilst allowing to stand on. Would it not be possible to then make the „woode blades“ using only wood and adding texture (and maybe color) where the resin is now? After all wooden volumes as encountered in gyms keep their texture for a while as well. Plus even if they lose it retexturing could be feasible
The wooden dual texture holds aren't new, there have been fairly similar designs around for at least a year. The volumes are clever, though stacking volumes isn't new either. His designs are still nice and look really good.
Hey, sorry for that. We're trying to re-upload the subtitles, but they're probably dropping out of the system. We're working on it with support. AO Team
I am happy and a little sad to see this. I was trying for years to promote wood holds and an early maker of plywood volumes but I can’t compete with the companies with CNC machines so gave up. I made a whole line of pinches with wood that match your red plastic ones.
I love making wooden holds. But what I don’t understand is why make wooden holds and then add sandpaper texture to it. Just make plastic holds of your going to do that. The whole point of wood is that the wood texture makes you try harder. Just my two cents.
@@boogaloo4640 yea, but it shifts away from it's roots and the pure joy of climbing/bouldering. Instead we see advertisements for brands the whole time
Hey Jan, if you look back at our last videos. Do you find the videos from crack climbing in Adršpach with Will Bosi and Pete Whittaker, the footage with Magnus, Will and Pete from the new bouldering challenge, the 9b route climb in Croatia, climbing with Wide Boyz in the Cellar or the whole bouldering training (the Tips & Tricks movie #1) too commercial? Adam guide to good things about wood:
-it's not plastic
-it's natural
-I think it's the best
It’s not plastic so why add plastic type texture to them?
Wood just isn't as durable, it will soak up sweat and rubber until unusable.
Love this half wooden holds. I think wood is a great material that should gradually replace PU/PE.
