Looking forward to the next video and to seeing the finished quilt. I love how you’ve explained your thinking and design decisions. It’s very interesting to hear how you’ve worked it through.

Thanks. I notice that many RUclipsrs don't do that and thought it might be helpful.

That Haiti fabric is stunning! I can't wait to see this made up! I quilt with found fabrics also, so this is an interesting journey we are on.

The thing us, we begin on a quilt not quite knowing how it's going to turn out. And I like that idea.

I am a fan of thrifted fabrics also. I have been lucky enough to find 2 Pottery Barn duvets! I also am a fan of Irish Chain quilts so of course I am a new subscriber!😊❤😊

I also like the use of black and white pictures - I seem to love medium tones a little too much!

Hello! I just discovered your channel today and I am so happy to have found you! I love your color choices for your friends quilt and that you are using rescued fabrics. I buy a lot of fabrics and clothing etc from charity shops and make bags, zipper pouches and quilts out of them too. This is just lovey.

Thanks. How far do you have to travel to your charity shops/ thrift stores in Alaska? I'm very fortunate that mine are plentiful within half a mile in my local High Street and many within a mile in Chester City Centre.

I have moved out of Alaska now and took some time traveling the Lower 48 States. I am currently in Texas but we are planning to leave here at the end of the summer and go to Arizona. In Alaska I had a couple charity shops within a 2 mile distance from where I lived and a couple more about 10-12 miles away. Whenever we would make the 31/2 hour drive to Anchorage though, we would go to all the very large Best charity shops. Very nice that you have a nice variety of them so close.

@AlaskaCraftyGalVictoria Welcome from Texas then. I have a friend who lives in Alaska, she used to live in Anchorage then moved to Homer. She uploads photos on Facebook of The Spit, and views from their house of the glacier. It's stunning.
As a Brit, it's very hard to imagine distances in the US.

I lived on the Kenai (pronounced Keen-Eye) Peninsula in a town called Soldotna and then we moved just down the highway to Kenai. We were right on the inlet and it was beautiful but we have a lot of family in Arizona & Texas. To put that in perspective that is a distance of 4,248 miles or 6796 km. It would take roughly 66 hours driving nonstop to get there. Alaska is so beautiful, but we got really tired of the cold and the very long winters.

I’m not sure how far you’ve got, but I would suggest using that stripe for binding. I’m guessing it won’t have enough contrast against the white. Loving the selection of greens; some very luscious fabrics there.

Thanks for your comment. I'm now reconsidering at my fabric stash and there's one shouting "pick me"! Watch out for part 3 for my decision.
