Im so glad I hitched my wagon to them exclusively back in 1994. How is this prophetic? Starting in the mid 90s, rock was on its way out and radio started to play more country, rap, and pop music. If this concert is in 2003, he had at least five or six years of seeing the downward trend of rock before making the statement. So answer me this, how is he prophetic?
@@FIDEL_CASHFLOW_ Because literally the majority of music nowadays is exactly like what they did right there. And Zenarchy was trying to be funny. @@jobmeyer4442 Chino had at least five or six years to see the downward trend towards what he's talking about in this clip from 2003. Noticing a trend over half a decade and commenting on it hardly makes one a prophet. And no. The 43 people who liked this comment did so out of a sense of superiority. People like yourself who seemingly look down upon other musical genres becoming popular are so incredibly insecure that they use something as inane as taste in music to projector superiority on to others. They tell themselves that only them and a select minority of people are intelligent enough to still like something like rock music and that everyone else is an idiot for liking what's popular.

This was actually the only festival I have been to outside of Sweden. 😢
Really miss this era, thanks!
No cell phones!
Yo, still missing Chi and the dark days. Energy through the roof 🔥
Be Quiet and Drive is a Masterpiece
chi chengs bass tone , playing and energy he brought was and is unmatched
Chi's bass tone was like a THUNDER, one of the best metal bassists of all time IMO
That boy in 6:20 was having the best day of his life
2:47 chi got some of that booger sugar :]
Ikr 😂
Lol funny as hell
That's the bass player. I'm sure they could care less. lol
Cocainamu
@@The11Cure Really? his name is Chi and played a HUGE part in making Deftones who they were.. They are NOT the same without him.
They were my first concert in high school and I've been a big fan ever since. Concert was in 1996 at Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. We got to hear an early version of "Teething" from the Crow 2 soundtrack. I knew even then that this band would stand the test of time.
Chino looks like Sonic
Рита Мамедова omg Lol

JAJAJAJAJAJA, WHAT
Deftones en vivo es una salvajada ,este video es patrimonio de la humanidad
Bloody Cape is absolutely brutal here
Yeah it's the heaviest
No kidding
that battle axe tease before video cuts off, sheeeeit
Deftones was dissatisfied with THIS performance? That was one of the cleanest live performances of Headup I've seen from them.
40:30
man these two had roars/screams that complimented each other like some sort of vocal duo
Im so glad I hitched my wagon to them exclusively back in 1994. Since they have created great music and when they are gone they will always be remembered by true music lovers as innovators and leaders of the Nu Metal revolution. They didnt stay in one style truly cementing them as one of the best bands from the 90s.
love how they incorporated different sounds in all of their albums. truly one of the best bands of all time.
I love when a band does not warm up the crowd (I know there are openers) and they just start out witha banger straight to your dome.
I think it is the best ever live performance of Minerva.
Nah, there are better. Chino fucked up some of the singing
23:54 James Hetfield himself!
Is it really!??
@@AntonP99 yeah
yeah! indeed, enjoying the concert \m/
Shiiit, it was actually him. I figured you were just pointing out some lookalike
They are basically local bands to eachother, Sacramento and San Francisco.
what a great setlist. self-titled probably has the best live songs.
6:39 man this was so smooth, it looked like chi handed the sound to chino or something
Rest easy chi and thank you for everything you shared with us. Truly ❤
I really love the Deftones since “diamond eyes” album! But watching this video right here takes me back! I really needed this. This is Deftones. At their finest. Thank you.
If not one of the most brutal shows they did. Thank you for make this beauty avaliable
Watch the show from the day before ( 2003 June 7 Pinkpop ) They have even more energy and an excellent setlist
30:47 I first thought someone got hit by the baseball bat.
Ling Ling nasty ass sticks 😂
31:23 Oh Chino, you were prophetic.
Even got all the lyrics on point 😂
How is this prophetic? Starting in the mid 90s, rock was on its way out and radio started to play more country, rap, and pop music. If this concert is in 2003, he had at least five or six years of seeing the downward trend of rock before making the statement. So answer me this, how is he prophetic?
@@FIDEL_CASHFLOW_ Because literally the majority of music nowadays is exactly like what they did right there. And Zenarchy was trying to be funny. Whether he was serious about "prophetic" or not, the goal was to joke, and the 43 people who liked his comment obviously understood that. Have some fun for once in your life.
FIDEL CASHFLOW dude you need to chill wtf haha
WOW @ 19:03, that is some mad skills to get people jumping. All hail Deftones 🙆🏻♀️💃
That’s power of metal, man
Ever seen slipknot spit it out?
@@mastodon98 are you referring to this song that Slipnot would play? Or seeing Sliponot play IRL? There is also Ymgwie Malmsteen
@@Wunderlustgirl im referring as to how corey makes everybody get down and "jump the fuck up"
Even Chino's Yeah! shows how impressive and motivating that was
41:19 is Frank throwing up?
Yep
Well spotted lol

thanx for sharing this is the best of that era!
Awesome, to see the "old" setup, with Chi Cheng on bass.
R.i.p.,he will never be forget.
Respect the dead and play for the living!!
Always loved Chi' bass line in Minerva! R.I.P
Same!!
One of the best concerts I've watched, seriously 😊✌️thanks for the upload.
That white shirt guy when my own summer was being played is a legend lol
Man Bloody Cape goes so hard live!
Man this is great! We need the reading 2000 in its entirety now. Thanks for this!!!
Blast from the fucking past, this was awesome! Havent heard Deftones in years. Used to be all I played back then it felt like. Ty for this!
Thanks for sharing it, thats an amazing concert
So glad they did not take this down. The Deftones live sessions is gone and I hope this will stay here for the new generation. Such an epic concert. RIP Chi
30:12 heaviest deftones riff to date.
All Deftones riffs suck
@@googlewantstoknowyourlocat1115 cool. Thanks for your input.
@@Mike4891w lol
@@Mike4891w I saw Deftones in 1996 when they opened up for Pantera. I wasn't familiar with their first album so it sounded like a mess to me. 'Bored' sounded cool tho! Lots of their stiff doesn't have a tight sound like that song. Kinda lose most of the time. I'm my opinion.
@@googlewantstoknowyourlocat1115 meh, they're not everyone's cup of tea I suppose. I grew up with them as one of my favorite bands. Meshuggah as well. Pantera was always on that favorite list.

Just bought a ticket to a Deftones show. Can`t believe I`m gonna see them play live for the first time this summer.. I`m so excited. Hope COVID won`t fuck it up.
How was the show?
@@BassPlayer9000 It got postponed to next summer... It sucks, but I gotta admit I'm lucky that these guys are gonna come to my country at all. After all, a Deftones show is worth the wait.

Fckn Beautiful in every way!
Diggin' to much this iteration of Hexagram, sounds straight out of a lo-fi Mathcore album. So raw!
I recently got into deftones from a recommendation of a freind of mine and I was instantly hooked so for the last month pretty much all I have listened to is deftones and this group is just so good I cannot get enough no matter how many times i listen to one of their albums (sometimes multiple times in a row) it's just amazing and at first I was kinda skeptical of like the shoe gaze sound but I really love it it's amazing to me. I love deftones!!!
Wish I could’ve seen them while Chi was still rockin that bass. The live versions always have him up in the mix, I don’t hear Sergio so much.
It’s was amazing. He brought something different to the whole vibe. I like Sergio, but it always feels like something is just missing, because it is.
WOW this sounds absolutely badass
2:47 Chi was having a great time, turned all the way up, uhmm.. got it?.. RIP BRO
That mofo at around 6:07 got the chance to scream "shove it" with Chino, i hate him!
And he didn't sound gd either😤
@@jnightmare0 Yeah good thing he's not in the band... Obviously he won't sound particularly great.
wtf is wrong w you guys, it was a huge moment for him at that point of time and you guys are taking a crap on him.
@@renapeppers20 WTF are you on about???
Fuck you man
5:32 Daaaamn, guy on the bottom left holding one of those good ol' cameras

the minerva performance is just perfection
Que legal assistir o show do DEFTONES,gosto muito dessa BANDA!!!!!!VALEU!!!!!! RIP CHI CHENG.
31:40 *me, focusing hard trying to write a song*
What a set. I was thinking chino and julian casablancas are one of my favorite vocalists--and they both have a hard time singing their own shit live haha. Somehow it makes it bad ass that they are incredibly creative and just wing it
dude chino and julian are two of my favorites and ive seen them both in the beginning of both bands careers and yes they were better in the beginning. youre right they wing it like true artists. absolutely.
I'm pretty sure Chino didn't have any vocal training for a while so his vocal got fucked up after years of incorrect technique.
Chino totally blow his vocals chords off and went through surgery at some time, he was at his lowest post White pony success that's why the inconsistency around this era.
