I got ERA 300 yesterday and was listenin' to it all day, I have the same opinion, Spatial Audio is a hit and miss. When it hits then my god wow, you can really feel the song like never before. So ERA 300 in all fairness is ahead of its time.
Also, the bass isn't that good tbh, but because it's the 3 range. Sonos *wants* you to purchase a subwoofer.
The Era 500 should blow everything out of the water, is what I expect.

I’ve not really dove into the spatial audio music so I have no opinion. The era 300’s interest me for home theater purposes. I have the arc with play ones and sometimes the Arc effects don’t match in the back. I’m hoping these will improve that. Has anyone used them with the Arc? That’s what matters most for me. If they greatly make a difference I’m sold

I know this reply is a little late and you have already probably made your decision. :) I replaced my 1's as rears with a pair of 300's. I have arc and gen 3 sub in the theater setup. For atmos content the difference is WOW. For non atmos content the difference is an improvement but not worth that kind of money. Atmos is really where these shine. When used as a stereo pair for music they are unbelievably good too

I have a stereo pair of the era 300s and when using Dolby Atmos they are fantastic - it’s -Ronald better to watch review videos that review the speakers own their own merits rather than the endless comparison ones as they don’t really add any value

I just upgraded my rear Symfonisk bookshelf with my Beam+Gen 3 Sub to One SLs just after X-mas. I really didn't hear a noticeable upgrade in sound quality in movie mode? Would the Era 100 perform about the same in Dolby 5.1 surround sound duties as the old One SLs? Seems like Sonos de-tunes the speakers in home theater surround sound duties compared to music, stand alone, or stereo pair duties?

I have two era 300s with the Arc and sub gen 2. Atmos movies and music are amazing. Sound like I'm at my local movie theater.

@@xguy9999 I have another Sonos system with the Arc, dual Gen 3 Subs, and Fives as rear surrounds. I've heard Sonos "might" make Era 500 in a few years. I can wait and see if they make a version 2 of the Arc or bring out the Era 500.

For just music what do you recommend 2 100s or 1 300?

That’s tough. Depends on if you care about Atmos or spatial audio.

Suggest you wait for your credit card statement to roll over and immediately purchase multiple options direct from Sonos. Test your options during that credit card billing cycle and return what you don’t like via the very generous Sonos return policy. You get to test and return anything you don’t want before your next credit card statement. You can’t go wrong testing in your own home with your own ears 🙂
