- Apple applies for patents for a lot of stuff, but earlier this week we saw a patent for an AirPods case with a touchscreen and that got me thinking: Could this be the comeback of the iPod I've been dreaming of?

I would love a new version of the original iPod with the wheel. Yeah that thing but it has Wi-Fi so it’s automatically updated with your music and films or whatever.
Updated music from where though? Like it syncs the music you have on your computer?
@@LilGrimey5Star yeah from your computer and any music and films from your cloud storage automatically download on to it. I had an ipod the newer version. You could download your apple movies but it was a bitch without wifi. It was actually really tedious. That's why I want one with wifi.
I still use the nanos for downloading radio programs. Refurbished ones with new batteries can still be purchased at reasonable prices. Great little devices. I usually go to sleep with the ear phones in my ears.
I would definitely purchase a new iPod as my ipod touch is getting old now although it still works after several new batteries in it and breaking the screen before getting it replaced. I use my ipod touch everyday.
Yees jason...having all in one concept ( phone, ipod, recorder ..etc ) , has taken the fun we had before in our gadgets and made unfocused...so i really loved the idea of having one device for one purpose like the new writting tool called remarkable 2.

No idea why anyone would want to use their AirPods case to control music, since we have gestures for that. No idea why anyone would want to carry more than one devices to control different things, since we have one device to rule them all.
Yeah I hate the fact I have my old iPod touch & a 7th gen iPod touch & unfortunately I can’t use it to put my music playlist in it

There wont be a new ipod, theyre selling a subscription model, they dont want you to carry the music.

It gets to be 118 degrees where I live. If I tried to use my iPhone to play music on my Bluetooth speaker, I’d be giving up a lot more than music.
I love my iPod touch (5th it 6tg Gen.). Not even Internet capable.
I use my phone in my car for GOS or nothing, and if the iPod battery runs out playing music, I feel safe.
I just hope oTunes Mac software doesn’t go away for some reason.

More people are wanting to minimize phone usage..so bringing back the ipod would be awesome. The original size...not the cutesy nano size.

When I got my Apple Watch I thought I would use as a way to be less connected to my iPhone. It has helped but I still use my phone more than I would like.
Sometimes I wonder if we really were less distracted in the 90s and 00s. It feels like the difference now is our distraction devices are easier to take with us on the go.
I can see this being a hit for people who don’t have an iPhone! Even people with an iPhone could use this when jogging or working out. Then again, I think about the watch.
I have the last Gen iPod Touch. I still buy and collect digital albums so it's my Apple device so I can buy from iTunes. I didn't install any distracting apps just my music, radio, and podcast apps. It's still an iPhone w/o the phone though, it would be nice to have a more emersive, classic iPod interface.
Considering how cheap it is to buy an entry-level or used iPhone compared to the price of an iPod. It makes no sense to make iPods anymore.
Ipods (especially nanos) are much smaller and lighter than an iPhone. You can buy a refurbished nano with new battery for $50.00.
Anything that separates me from my phone even for a little while would be big for me. Having an iPod built into my AirPod Pros would be and launch day purchase for me
I wouldn't mind having music controls on my ear buds' box. Then I could just pull it out of my pocket and use it to skip songs I don't want to listen to.

I do miss when a music player was just for music not for podcasts ,reading , net etc that’s what a smart phone is used for . let’s just have a music player meant to be what it is for music!!!! It’s the same how I feel about consoles it’s like a gaming console is meant to be for gaming only not no Netflix,Hulu ,Disney etc it’s bs I miss where shit made sense back in the day

Please let this be true, I hope it's true because I don't want to build an MP3 player, and I shouldn't have to shell out thousands for an Astell and Kern.
Ha-ha, I like your old man irony. And agree, I miss old-school media players. When chips, storage and components become smaller and cheaper every year, there is so much room for new designs and experiments. And still, only small companies or startups are daring to try.
It will be cool if it plays music without connection to phone..

I would really like & would love honestly the return of the Ipod (with higher Max storage than 256 GB) please? When the Ipod officially died, was that in 2021 or 2022? I forget lol. I was really sad. I am not a huge fan of all-in-one devices (I know, I know I am in the minority) & while I have a really large Itunes Music Collection (Not all of it is in the Cloud) & even if it was all in the cloud, I wouldn't want to pay for all of that mobile data & I intentionally choose to diversify my devices (I don't, I haven't ever & I won't likely ever own an Iphone) & so in order to be able to listen to my music on the go, I will soon be buying my very first Macbook so that I can use wireless Headphones/Earbuds & still listen to my collection on the go. It is only because the battery is dying & the lack of storage on my Ipod Touch as to why my move to a Macbook is absolutely necessary. I think it this ever became a reality, I would buy it immediately too.
The ipod should still exist for music only it should have LTE bluetooth for headphones and obviously the ability to automatically download or stream any song anytime with an excellent screen interface you can see clearly …. Why is this not already made ?? This is an automatic sell for millions of people

Yes, but what for? Look at the JBL Tour Pro 2 - the look similar to this Apple concept and are out on the market since the beginning of this year. Apple is way too late ;-)

Nahhhh no thanks i like changing to new music on the fly when i go for walks on youtube music. Ipods were fun in the past but literally no reason for a new one anymore
There are so many DAP's out there that were better than the last iPod touch version. Fiio, Hiby, Astell& Kern, Cowon, Cayin, iBasso, Shanling, Sony, and Hidizs.(to name a few) They all make entry level to very expensive models that connect to wifi, two way bluetooth, and can stream as well with expandable memory. Some even have tubes and R2R DACs in them.
The rabbit hole I went on 4-5 months ago, going with Sony
@@superboy305 Nothing wrong with Sony. I think they over price their stuff (DAPs), but most of the DAP makers do. They know it's a smaller market with fewer choices. I currently use a Shanling M3X and it is really good overall.
No point in having this tech. Every apple power user has an apple watch or an iphone.

@@thejasontlewis I still have an MP3 player,I buy a new one periodically as well/they are $30 or less,they have color screens and they are easy to interact with as well,they are advertised as an MP3 Player,but they also support FLAC,WAV and AIFF files as well,which I use vs MP3 files/I mainly have an MP3 player to save battery on my phone/to also save my phone,if I'm going into a hardcore situation,I also usually use it when I'm on my treadmill or cutting grass/working in my yard as well,also I don't have ANY Apple devices luckily,my laptop has a 4090 in it,its display is 17.3inches,it has 128GBs of RAM,it has an i9,no APU either,it also has multiple SSDs,for work loads,I also have a numpad,Apple offers NONE OF THIS,on laptops,I use/run virtual machines and I require cudacores,so Apple basically can't keep up.
Sorry I don't see the point, everyone carries a phone with them that already plays music. If you want to disable notifications you can.
