Phenomenal content!! Exactly what the youth need to hear about sacrificing and putting in the work and forget instant gratification and focus on your purpose!!
This comment means a lot. All for the youth 💪🙏
😂 it's OK I only get my cut once every 2 months now..shave myself
Learned how to cut my own hair and haven't looked back, straight up.
I agree, the first few haircuts may not be the best but after about a month to three with practice, you develop your style and never look back.
I was spending $1200 a year on weekly haircuts. Now that money goes to investing in myself. I think if more people cut their own hair the barber industry will probably collapse if it hasn't already
@@ADee-nc7iv Yea, I mean it’s not to knock barber’s hustle. I do a touch up every 3 days so I might be saving more than $1k a year.
Learned this 22 years ago
I grew my hair out for 3 weeks, wanting to get a fresh fade cut at a barbershop. I contacted my old barber, and his number was no more. I went online to find another barber, and the prices were from $50 to $100. I grabbed my clippers with a razor and shaved my own head. I'll be bald for life..
@@pasoldier9304Around the same time for me, but sometimes I will go to my guy to perfect/crisp it up.😎
My barber of over 30 years retired10 years ago he charged maximum of $15 per cut miss him so much😢😢
U robbed him for 30 years 😂😂😂
Man I heard an old female barber and she retired after covid. She would charge me 15 but I always at least gave her 20
Some of these barbers are trippin charging like $100 a cut. Idk what’s up now a days, haircuts shouldn’t cost more than 40 imo. Overhyped bs
They only trippin if they don’t have the demand… some of these chefs charge $100 for a steak 🤷🏽♂️
@@Bossiocutsyea it’s the demand, I know a barber that charges $100 a cut but he is a beast, he cuts NFL players, he will give you the best cut you ever got. Appointment only
20 is the max i will pay and thats including tip
@gooserich3970 everyone has their price.. great clips charging more than that, so you’re a hell of a bargainer lol
I cut my own hair, missed spots in the back and all sometimes! I realized a haircut does not make me!
Got a 360 mirror and 3 pair of clippers and started cutting my own hair 10yrs ago and haven’t looked back.
How do you cut your hair then if you haven’t looked at the back?

I’m 41 and I needed to hear this, I’m single with no kids and I’m out here grinding like I’m in my twenties.
Same here 42 like you
Right, me too. Throwing 2k into investments monthly. Trying to get it in.
I hear you my guy!!! Don’t let the screen name fool ya. I’ve had this account since I was 20. Simply the game has changed but putting priorities in order is key… That will never change.
I just retired in January. I agree with you brother. I had my shop for 25 years. The clients have changed and barbers don’t appreciate the craftsmanship. They treat it as a hustle and they feel that they should get $70 plus for a cut. This ain’t Beverly Hills……smh
My problem is that as times went on barbers started to increase their prices but their quality significantly went down… they started half cutting people so they can get people out the chair faster and they started nickel and dimming people… if your going to increase prices at least keep your quality up or improve it with the price… and now they don’t do walk ins you got to book through an app which took the culture from the barbershop and is actually cheating them out of money
Wow. I never knew men were expected to pay $50.00 to $100 for a hair cut!!!!
I agree, however I am an actor in Hollywood. And the best barbers that cut celebrities hair. A lot of them only charge $40
sounds like I'm lucky to cut my own hair
I'm 46 and I feel it's something I love an hate at the same time. I been a barber for 30 years. And I'm still at it .
Same here
People cut their own hair now.
Yes I sacrificing a lot to build my barber career! I’m only 4 years in the game. And still push head down and going forward! I ride my bicycle to the shop and eat five dollars meals! I try to do the roommates thing. But it gets hard when they get jealous and put road blocks in your way. I learn now to just keep God first and don’t let the negativity bring me down! I need to hear this!
Amazing how similar our journey was. Waited tables, cut in a shop and went to school at night. 75-80hrs/week with a 10month old, single dad with residency. But the work ethic I developed has put me at the top. Always a full schedule. I don’t make 20k a month but 10 where I live is probably top 5%. I have a brand new house but drive a 10 yr old car with no plan to buy anything newer.
That’s awesome man, living for a purpose. the money will come
These new age barbers are horrid. 50 plus for trash cuts and spray paint I stay wolfing now…
Yeah they all ass now I swear there is lil Mexican lady cuts way better than like 3 barber shops I been too 😂
I quit my job of 17 years at Costco, so o can go to barber college. Reason I had to was, I couldn’t get a loan through financial aid, cause I made too much. I accessed my 401k to pay off the school cash and made a goal to finish in 7 months. I’m 2 weeks away from graduating, 7 months and a couple of weeks it’s been! Driving 140 miles everyday 5 days a week! Took barely any days off, cause I wasn’t trying to play the long game! Costco knew I was coming back and admittedly took back my application. I got an interview again coming up this next few week. I’ll be getting paid what I left off at before I quit. Working part time hours with benefits and Insurance! Going to do that 4am-9:45 and go to the shop after! Going to do that till I put back what I took out from my 401k and have enough to move out, so me and my son can get our own place! Chris is right. Don’t be materialistic and make the money grow and get the things later! Struggle and grind now .

Not to disrespect your grind for advancement or hustle for the tiny human version of you😂

@@ckantrel1977 explain to me 😂😂😂
I havent been to a barber in years. My nephew started cutting my hair for a hot minute & he was doing a decent job on me but he grew tired of it so i just started cutting my own hair by giving myself a baldy & fixing my beard. Saves me lots of money.
If I could grow a beard I would do the same thing tbh
$20k a month = 20 cuts a day at $50 5days a week fresh out of barber school?? That might be cap bro
That sounds doable
Bro, most guys that go to Barber School already have clientele just no license, 20 heads a day is a lot, but do able especially if you know how to cut different grains of hair i.e Not just black people.
@@KevoUptownChicago I feel like 20 cuts a day is insanely high depending on the service and quality. Just sitting someone down and shaving/fading their head their head, sure I could see that. But when I get my haircut, the place I go washes my head, gives me hand massage while I’m conditioning. I pay $60 per cut and they don’t just throw me in a chair and get me out. I get pampered. Hot towels, etc.
A basic haircut take 10 mins.
That’s 2400 clients every six months. I don’t believe any barber is doing those numbers
Don't get a roommate. U can't trust people. Roommates can leave u stranded & can also b jealous & b ur downfall. It's low key an xtra responsibility. Ur peace is more valuable.
Fact
I agree. Never wanted a roommate ever. Mostly it’s the sharing a bathroom and kitchen part. Seems awful.
@tcoom76 Me neither. I had a roommate for 2 weeks n college & couldn't do it. I paid extra 4 a private room. Did I mention that some people r nasty? A dirty kitchen & bathroom always make me sick. 🤢🤮
Agreed it ain’t ideal for everyone, I did it for a year in college, I moved in with my sister and her family for a year too to stack
Dude you need to find a good friend, trying to pay rent in these current cities by yourself isn’t good for your wallet, save your money, rent shouldn’t take up half of what you make, just find a decent place where you don’t get robbed while you’re out working

Barbering is a horrible taxing grind. I quit after a 5 year run before all the enhancements and corny shit, stacked up and got into real estate and never looked back
You were doing barbering wrong then brother, it’s all good.
@@Tigerbalm1310 idk what you’re talking about. I’m speaking on “horrible taxing grind”
Everything is horrible and taxing if you don't want to do it. To be successful you gotta grind!!!
Real estate was the same way, but it's just that you're passionate about real estate and the payoff has been worth the grind for you.
There are people right now who would say real estate is a horrible taxing grind... LoL

Dealing drugs on the side, scamming and always asking their clients for money.
My barber always ask if I could spot him in exchange for extra cuts.

Dope message bossio, I’m not a barber anymore but I always check back because you have wisdom that transfers to any aspect of life even when you started your channel years back doing tutorials
Sorry bro but why did you stop cutting
I became a barber in 2010. In 2022 I made the switch over to IT. It was a rough grind starting off in help desk, but it paid off and currently in 2024 Ive already been promoted and currently work in the role of an ITSM Incident Management Analyst. Being self employed just wasnt for me and I had to realize that and move on
What are the steps you made for going into IT? I heard getting comptia and network certificates are good for a foot in. I was contemplating on going to school for computer programming.
@@finestlocane A+ certification is definitely a good foundation to learn the basics and get you're foot in the door into IT. Start in helpdesk for a few years to gain experience and work you're way up in the field.

@@finestlocane I started studying the basics in March 2021 to see if this was something I really wanted to transition into.
I bought a used macbook with the stimulus unemployment money they were giving out. Around January 2022 I started working on my resume and was able to get at least 1 interview per month.
I didnt get a job offer until august 2022. It took 8 months of interviews to land the job. Prior to barbering for 12 years, the only job I had was us navy for 6 years. Majority of my adult life was self employed. I had to reinvent my skills and self

Probably been to the barber less than 5x in 2 years, learned how to cut my own hair because of Covid and kept on doing it and getting better once hair cuts went to $50.
I’m 30 years old starting my barber journey and it’s extremely challenging but I’m not gonna make any excuses. I’m about 3 months in and I’m set to graduate in December.
Some barbers prefer charging 50 dollars a cut waiting for 1 customer a day, than 20 dollar a cut with 10 customers a day
I’m going to barber school in the morning and working at night… most nights I’m only getting 4 hours of sleep and I feel like I have no time to myself.
But I love this shit. I’m working towards my dream and I have a job I don’t hate. So I’m just enjoying every minute of the hustle.

Your right when you say the right ship/shop matters I’ve switched shops and I feel I can grow and start applying everything, I’m just so thankful for your wisdom , the one thing that sticks with me each time you say it DELAYED GRATIFICATION 👊🏻
Here’s why, most barbers can’t cut hair for shit. I’ve been to countless barbers and every single time they NEVER listen to what I say. I tell them clearly to not cut the top part of my hair, and what do they do? They cut the top of my hair anyway… every single barber I’ve been to has screwed me over and I got sick of it, so I decided to start cutting my own hair from now on. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s what I wanted…
To hell with barbers, all that school and they still can’t cut anything…
How do you not cut the top part of your hair? As opposed to the middle or bottom part?
Love your content. Was helping me during Covid cutting my son's hair. Even thought I might go to school then thought better. Leave it for the youngsters out there. But one thing I am happy about that I never thought I'd be happy about... I went bald. Man, I can't imagine paying $200 every cut but I might have if I had hair. I had a little bit more vanity in me back then. Going bald freed me! 😂
Definitely need more encouraging content like this. Much love my brother! Great word! Thank you for being obedient and sharing this with us.
I thought you were gonna say, the next generation of barbers are doomed because they can't cut hair.. I've been cuting my own hair for about 20 years because of this.
As a 44 year old guy, I completely agree with the creator of this video. Things are always changing, always. That is the constant in life. It never stands still. Always moving forward and always evolving/changing. Those who adapt best are the ones who will be most successful. Those who either cannot or do not, will fall by the wayside, more or less. This has been true throughout human history.
My message to the younger generation is to do your best not to get discouraged by anything you see in the news or social media. Stay positive/optimistic about your personal future which help tremendously in keeping you focused and determined. You are also not the first generation to experience this and you will not be the last. Every generation has their version of "growing pains" and acclimating to real life. Some people will find their way and purpose and some will not. That is simply the reality of life whether you want to accept it or not. Everyone gets to play the game but not everyone gets to play in the same way, but how you play depends in large part on the player themselves. However, you will only derail yourself in a big way by starting out with a negative/defeatist mentality about the future. Again, stay positive and optimistic about your personal prospects. Where there's a will, there's a way, but that largely depends on you.
Dude charged me 30 and didn't even line the back up
I’m fighting
Bossio man just keep dropping gems on us just in the context of life my brother I'm giving you your roses today... True God doesn't put anything on us that we can't handle 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💪👏👏👏👏👍💯🤗

I was fine paying $15 for a cut. Once they came at me with $25 post covid, i said im good. Bought my own clippers, been doing my hair ever since.
Good insight on this video, In my city I've recently had to switch barbers about 4 times since the pandemic. With the inflation and economy, it seems barbers just cant afford to be only a barber and have to work other jobs also now, So this leads to less availability etc to cut clients. It's a mess that things have to be this way in America
I'm dealing with this now. I got 3 barbers in rotation. Considering learning how to cut my own hair.
@@romeored901 sorry to hear, yep I’ll cut myself occasionally still too if I don’t feel like going or can’t get a good day and time setup. Crazy. I Miss when cuts were also $15 to $20 years ago 😆😆

I cut my own hair for the past 15 years. I don't particularly care for the crowd in those establishment. The last cut I received had dealers kept coming in staring at me. The barber were texting trying to figure if I am hitman. A bald head & beard took the barber 1.5 hours to cut. Never again.

20k a month ? Shee. What am I doing wrong
That stuff doesn't last being a barber. You're hot until the next, good-looking barber comes along.
Not selling weed while you’re cutting… that’s where the 20k a month comes from!
The best barbers I know started in middle school, high school chopping in the hood. Perfecting their craft and building trustworthy clientele. These guys today think it's a hustle, don't take the cuts serious, which is why they can't keep clients. Then to add insult to injury, want to charge $80 for a half fade and spray.
Don’t believe everything what u hear. It’s just not true.
I take those two pauses as prayers for those who you are talking and giving this advice to be able to praise God for all the goodness given to US. And the blessings that ARE in the bank ready to be withdrawn and the other blessings that ARE going to be pour on many. Praise the Lord!!
I hear ya! I've been cutting my own hair for the last 15 years.

Bro make more positive talk videos like this homie we loving it over here ❤
The barber industry is definitely hurting im here in the capital of Canada. People are just growing their hair long, getting fewer cuts or doing it themselves now. The haircut prices have gone up because the commercial rents went up, less people coming in and tools have become unaffordable. $300 for cordless tools and no one buys products anymore. Even if barbers charged $20 people would still just cut their own hair, people have become very stingy since the pandemic or can’t afford much anymore.
I felt like a bum moving back with my dad to save money. But he told me as long as you are working and going to school and not being lazy you’re always welcome back. When I got into a car accident he helped me get a car cheap for $1,000 cash. Yes I want a new house a newer car but it’ll come with time.
In 2002 i opened my barbershop cuts were $12 shape-ups were $5 one of the first straight razor spots around closed down because i never got my license but lasted about 6/7 years businesses was great.. man times have changed but i think for the better
Uber doesn’t pay that much…lots of their drivers are making less than minimum wage…
It is a grind for very many people in today’s economy
No but it’s much more flexible and convenient and anyone can just turn it on.. remember what the process was of finding a job that meant all your criteria’s. Flexible hours, work any hours around school? That’s the point I was making.
This means a lot chris. Keep thinking out loud for us(:
So much great wisdom for the next generation, love it bro!
When I left home as a teenager in 1985 I was able to rent my own apartment on the beach in San Diego just from working a job at fast-food
You know what interest rates were in 1985? It’s all relative. It was next to impossible for poor and lower middle class to participate in the stock market like today. Some things have become more difficult today but I can think of many more things that have become easier and more accessible today. In 2007 Minimum wage was the equivalent of making less than $9 today, but to invest in the stock market you needed $5k min deposit to open a brokerage account and you had to buy full shares so stocks in companies like Berkshire, Tesla, Amazon, etc were out of reach for many Americans.
@@Bossiocuts yep, the point I'm making is back then, it was so much easier for kids to start out on their own. My rent in '85 was $300 and I could survive on 1 minimum wage job. Now 1 bedroom apartments in Santa Monica are $3700-$4000 a month, I don't know how kids and the upcoming generation can navigate that on regular blue-collar jobs
I don't have much hair left at sixty six, but I go to the barber probably every three or so months. I go to a VERY established barber shop that has been around for thirty five years, and now the third generation in the family runs it. They charge a straight 20 dollars a cut. I always give the guy twenty five, and he has a VERY steady and loyal customer base. the owner and his wife (they just had a baby so she's only part time now) and his brother and another friend all work there. It's a great field to get into if you're reasonable and good, and fair.
I cut my own hair now thanks to a barber doing me bogus. I'm so glad because I'm not paying someone 40/hr when a nurse barely makes that
I haven't been to a barber in years I cut my own hair nowadays even if I can't cut properly, not everyone can afford cutting their hair anymore.
Me either. I just give myself a baldy, groom my beard & call it a day.
I’m not mad that these guys can make a good living now. I traverse 3 cities and have a go-to barber in each. One of my barbers charges $30 and I’ll tip $5-$10 for good service. I also have a barber that charges $65 to $80. While the haircut is about the same, the level of service and experience make it worth the expense for me. It’s more a luxury barber salon type experience than the Lebron-vs-Kobe debating, hustleman-with-the-steaks-and-socks selling barbershop experience. Even in a traditional neighborhood barbershop, the experience and service can still warrant a higher $50 premium without the b.s. extras we don’t want (ie: unneeded color enhancements, that goddamn white chalk pencil, or a straight razor on my hairline). Barbers that figure this out take the time to figure out what makes for good service experiences and they even buy service experiences themselves and note how they can enhance their service. It might also depend on the age and class of people you can reach.
I was bullshitting with my barber. He was telling me I charge too much @ 200/hr to work on his Audi. I paid him $80 for 15 minutes...lol.
51 years Barbering, in Oakland and now in NC. I am a Barber and trained as a Beautician specializing in waves. Now only cuts Black and white customers. $100 is twice more than I charge, but if you can get it I am not mad. Depends on how much work you do. So cut and Paint,I don't do that. Takes me about 15 minutes to cut. Some spend an hour and it's the same money if they spend an hour and charge $100.I will retire soon, but remember all the money you make is not yours because you need retirement and health
How's a barber making that much money, that's bs, ain't no way.
lol it’s possible but most barbers definitely aren’t making close to that a month.
I've been cutting my own hair for like 10 years up to close to 14 probably
I dont know of a barber making 20k a month. An elite small percentage make big money cutting hair of wealthy clients. Average people need reachable goals.
The Dominican barbers are the only real old school barbers left. They're old school, don't require appointments and they're really affordable. American barbers think that they're doctors with the prices, attitude and appointments.

Love it Bro! Plant a tree early so you can be in the shade later. God Bless You!
Chris I’m 26 years old. I honestly feel like I haven’t lived life. I’m trying to find my career purpose but I am struggling to find it. I thought about becoming a barber since high school but I let doubt strip that away from me. I’m considering getting back into it. I’m afraid I will never learn how to cut hair Because I never cut hair before. I was told to practice on myself because that’s what a lot of barbers do when starting out. Isee that your saying that new generation barbers are doomed and I was wondering Is it a profession you wouldn’t recommend? I hope to hear back from you. Thanks for the message.
Do it brother!!! Never too old! Im 25! Just started a lawn service business! Keep going! Go do it! Dont live with regrets bro!! Life too short!!
@@lmwjr it’s rare to find kind strangers on the internet these days. Thank you for your uplifting words. I just hope that I can learn cutting hair by myself. But anyway I’m proud of you starting your own lawn services, I hope your business flourishes forever.
Bro people work their whole lives to finally retire one day and do something they enjoy. You are so young with a whole life ahead of you, imagine the rest of not feeling like work? Do it bro
