Excerpt from the Singapore Food Agency website. Bongkrekic acid is a rare toxin produced by the bacterium Burkholderia gladioli parthovar cocovenans (B. cocovenenans). During the production of fermented corn and coconut-based products, contamination of the bacterium B. cocovenenans may occur. This bacterium thrives in food that is rich in fatty acids, particularly those found in coconut and corn, and in environments with temperatures between 22 to 33 degrees Celsius and a neutral pH. Under such conditions, B. cocovenenans tend to proliferate rapidly, producing Bongkrekic acid in high amounts. Bongkrekic acid is typically found in Tempeh Bongkrek, a coconut-based fermented product that is popular in Southeast Asia. Besides fermented coconut and corn based products, B. cocovenenans may also be found in snow fungus and black fungus. Bongkrekic acid cannot be destroyed by washing or cooking.

@@Foxy11123 The restaurant serves Malaysian vegetarian food. You will have to look at the menu and see what dishes it serves.

I dont think malaysian or singaporean using this type ingredient cause even in origin indonesia is only one region that using it and the food also specific is not like tempeh that easy to made and u can mix with a lot dish and everyone can make it…. Even in indonesia only peoples from this region that like it cause smell and taste bit funky ….. i think in this case is not bongkrek just spoil coconut milk that accidentally invaded the same fungus … form i was told theres change this fungus invaded when making bongkek tempeh if using corn with fresh coconut grated ( if using soy bean with coconut grated is fine at least no case poison). But again this kinda ingredient that cant be made by everyone , is like pufferfish only some peoples that can use it … so i dont think so is because of this ingredient

The mayor has been a failure in all the scandals, starting from construction negligence to fire accidents to food poisoning. All in all, he has lived up to his expectations of being a total failure.

So the first allegation that this food poisoning was a deliberate action by certain still unnamed culprits really holds ground?

    • @yl9941
      @yl9941 5 месяцев назад +2

Yes, because the other branches are not affected which makes it strange since they likely get materials from same source. Also why is this happening after the new chef arrived? Why was his hand tested positive for the bongkrekic acid?

    Just wondering
Why is the mayor giving the interview about a medical situation?
Shouldn't a medical expert be doing that?
It feels like some one is trying to steal the spotlight.
    Just saying

We are on day 10 of campy virus that we think may have been from tai/ pei chicken teriyaki oval container. We will be staying clear of any of these ever. My son was very sick with high fever/chills , headache, leg weakness, itchy rash developed which led us to walk in clinic. Stool sample revealed campy virus. We are still dealing with it.

Gain of Function research and experiments on coronaviruses was offshored to China….
      👇
the U.S. Embassy health and science officials in Beijing decided to go to Wuhan and check it out. In total, the embassy sent three teams of experts in late 2017 and early 2018 to meet with the WIV scientists, among them Shi Zhengli, often referred to as the “bat woman” because of her extensive experience studying coronaviruses found in bats.
When they sat down with the scientists at the WIV, the American diplomats were shocked by what they heard. The Chinese researchers told them they didn’t have enough properly trained technicians to safely operate their BSL-4 lab. The Wuhan scientists were asking for more support to get the lab up to top standards.
The diplomats wrote two cables to Washington reporting on their visits to the Wuhan lab. More should be done to help the lab meet top safety standards, they said, and they urged Washington to get on it. They also warned that the WIV researchers had found new bat coronaviruses could easily infect human cells, and which used the same cellular route that had been used by the original SARS coronavirus.

Exclusive: U.S. slashed CDC staff inside China prior to coronavirus outbreak
The Atlanta-based CDC, America’s preeminent disease fighting agency, provides public health assistance to nations around the world and works with them to help stop outbreaks of contagious diseases from spreading globally. It has worked in China for 30 years.
The CDC’s China headcount has shrunk to around 14 staffers, down from approximately 47 people since President Donald Trump took office in January 2017, the documents show. The four people, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the losses included epidemiologists and other health professionals.
The material reviewed by Reuters shows a breakdown of how many American and local Chinese employees were assigned there. The documents are the CDC’s own descriptions of its headcount, which it posts online. Reuters was able to search past copies of the material to confirm the decline described by the four people.
“The CDC office in Beijing is a shell of its former self,” said one of the people, a U.S. official who worked in China at the time of the drawdown.
