Airfix Bristol Bulldog is amazing looking kit with a detailed instructions to rig this Bristol Bulldog.. great decals and sub assembly build.. this is a great release from airfix
A gleaming silver steed flown by the most capable and intrepid young men Britain could call upon, the Bristol Bulldog was one of the most important British aircraft of the inter-war period, when powerful biplane fighters unquestionably ruled the skies. Initially developed as a private venture by the Bristol Aeroplane Company, the Bristol Bulldog was the brainchild of accomplished aircraft designer Frank Barnwell, the man behind the successful Bristol F2B Fighter of the Great War, and was a light, all-metal and fabric-covered fighter, powered by a 440hp Bristol Jupiter engine.
The Bulldog was armed with a pair of forward-firing Vickers 0.303" machine guns mounted on either side of the cockpit, but ultimately never fired its guns in anger during a relatively short seven-year period serving with Fighter Command. Although it was the most capable fighter of the day, the Bulldog was more closely associated with challenging formation flying and spectacular aerobatics, with the Royal Air Force thrilling huge crowds at airshows and pageants around the country, as they demonstrated the effectiveness of a modernising air force.

I got my two delivered on the Friday and it blew my mind, what a kit!😳😲
Love how Airfix keep growing and improving, with the occasional hiccups, but then again....who doesn't? 😆😂

The zig-zags are squadron identification markings, like No.2 AC squadron used a black triangle in the early days before squadron letter codes were introduced. Nice review, feeling tempted.

Might tempt me to build a biplane...the only thing I wish they'd done is provide a pilot figure....

Short shot on the glazing - Indian QC for you - lovely kit though.

Love to see a new biplane, esp in 1/48. Plus I'm a sucker for inter-war silver wings so this is on the radar. Rigging will, as ever, be monofil/fishing line. Lots of double flying wires by the looks of it, so that should be "fun"

Great video and a great looking kit. I haven't seen the real item but looking at your video I got the impression that the moulding wasn't as crisp as I'd expect to see in a brand new product. I thought I could see mould lines around many pieces like keeping the bombs, wing struts, undercarriage wheels etc. I hope I've got this wrong!

Great looking kit. Glad Airfix keeps pumping out new kits in different scales. Not for me because I don’t like rigging, monoplanes only for me, but glad to see other eras getting new kits.

MOS, I don't actually /know/ but I wonder if the zigzags were a kind of attempted camouflage, like the dazzle camouflage on some ships. Basically intended to break up the aircraft outline. If that /was/ the intent I don't think it works as the colour is the same both sides of the zigzag. Just a thought though.
I saw Gary's Stuff unbox this yesterday and his had a couple of darker grey patches on the plastic that rubbed off, he thought might be release agent, so probably worth washing this kit even if you don't normally.

The Bristol Bulldog was the plane that Douglas Bader was flying when he crashed at Woodley Aerodrome in Berkshire which caused the loss of his legs.

Apparently, as I found out yesterday, a /fractionally/ different mark. Bader was apparently in a 2A not a 2, but yes absolutely he was in a Bulldog, just not this //exact// mark.

Another great video, thank you Moss. I will deffo be building this one. I own and use a 1929 Hardy split cane fishing rod so I will be doing the 1929 version of the Bulldog with an MG sports car along with a cane fishing rod on the passenger seat. John :)

Looks a great kit. In the film ‘Reach for the Sky’ there is a lovely shot of Kenneth More leaning on the propeller of his Bulldog. That said I’m not sure that the aircraft shown were Bulldogs. Yes I will be getting the kit. Thanks for the very helpful box opening.

Very nice little kit. painting looks a bit complicated so will do each section separately before final assembly. I didn't see cockpit clock decal so that will be nice to add your own details. Another kit needed for the collection. Thank you for a great review.

Great inbox. Are all new Airfix kits tooled by Academy? There’s a noticeable step up in quality and detail in recent kits, got my eyes on the Chinook.
