  • Welcome to our Giant ATX Team Issue renovation and complete rebuild.
    This bike is based on the one Rob Warner used to race in World Rounds back in the day, featuring his own signature custom pedal made by Mr Crud and loads of other trick parts including a wooden rear derailleur.
    This bike still goes down as one of Rob's all time favourite bikes, all the Giant Team from that period hold this bike in high regard and we think this has to go down as another Icon from mountain bike history which will be added to our growing collection.

    Always loved this bike, since I watched Warner on Mountain Bike Britain power-wheelieing down hillsides on it. Such a great looking bike.

    Great looking build mate! Love these things! One thing I've always found curious about them is despite the rest of the frame being miter cut box tube they went to the trouble of putting a reverse curve in the little gusset between the down tube and the seat tube support, it's much more complex to make than the bend in the downtube and seems a strange amount of effort to go to for such a small detail, maybe it was repurposed from something else. Anyway thank you for sharing the build, great to see!

    I've still got my ATX TWO, the Blue and Green version. Like the ATX ONE, it was an insurance frame replacement for my ATX One that I bent the frame on years ago. They only had the ATX TWO left, but I loved the new Blue Green as well with all my ONE components on it! I just got back into my bikes this year. Now 39, I bought a new Cube Stereo Action Team eMTB, my first e-bike, as it's similar in some ways to throwing and riding the old ATX or a Stinky! So much fun, but yeah, it's taking a while to get used to the new modern stuff and geometry. It's just weird with a motor. I haven't gotten used to this Bosch mid-drive smart system yet. The new eco + modes are cool, like riding a normal bike till you reach a hill. More torque is registered, then the motor will kick in slightly to help, then shuts back off completely! I'm old school. I actually still have a set of Rob Warner pedals on mine, haha! They ended up getting banned from sale if I remember correctly!? Anyway awesome to see this I was excited when Giant said they new Glory was going to resemble it bit yeah not seeing that atoll! Still great to go out and thrash the old Goat!

    Still one of the best looking bikes of all time. You should have removed the two cable lugs nearest the seat like the factory bikes. Did you also restore the internals of the forks, shock and brakes? Or is that why there's a big sign saying "don't compress the forks"? Vid didn't show any oil going in the lowers or any of those things working, anyway nice build.

    • @w90joe
      @w90joe 7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes well spotted, sticker was off another bike part of the way through its build just lurking about. The forks were in a really bad state but got fully serviced with new fluids and seals

    • @w90joe
      @w90joe 7 месяцев назад +1

      We did video the full rebuild but it made the video too long and boring. The legs and crowns were in a particularly bad state, I had to file them straight, paint strip and sandblast them prior to painting

    • @w90joe
      @w90joe 7 месяцев назад +1

      Left the lugs on in the interest of keeping it factory fresh, I know the lugs were replaced with cable ties but wanted it to be clean looking. Great that you know as much as you do and love your comments, thanks for taking the time, it makes the video more interesting, cheers Joe.

      @@w90joe Ah cool man that all makes perfect sense! Such a great looking build, don't know if I'm biased from remembering them at the time but i really cant think of a better looking bike, or a better looking color scheme!

    I bought mine new in 99-2000 I think. Had it sprayed black with a flame job by my sign writer friend, it’s last hurrah was in Les Gets with long travel plates (with Tf tuned shock) and a pair of 8 inch travel Mr Dirts. I still have the frame hanging in the garage

      I saw an official Giant version of this bike at a show in all matt black and it looked the nuts! They should have gone for that before anyone else turned down the colour scheme's but at the time it helped identify riders. I remember a rider doing crazy shit on the ATX 2 version. Still the same frame though as the One.

    Had one from new…brilliant bike,but a bugger for tearing the rear shock into two separate parts if cased hard at speed…had to track down a prototype rear shock to remedy the problem.short flickable plush bikes.
