I cannot find the answer to this anywhere. Can you bake the halved mirlitons in a pan with a small amount of water like you would spaghetti squash to soften them instead of boiling them?
No I haven't. Part of the reason is I don't own a pressure cooker and the other is that most of the recipes I have seen and discussions from others who have cooked these for years have never suggested it.
Well, they basically suggest treating it like a potato. Some people have success slicing them in half and microwaving them to get them soft. My fear with a pressure cooker is over cooking it, but as I said, I do not have any experience to base that on. If you try it, please let me know. I appreciate the feedback!
I made this tonight and this soup is delish!!
Thank you for demonstrating this recipe! This will be perfect for cooler nights. 😊😊😊
Thank you for the feedback. Glad you like it!
Looks delicious! By chance can the boiled shells be eaten?
Look great and I’m sure taste great also.
Great video David! Looks tasty.

@ariYAH Thank you
Have you ever tried to put the mirliton's in a pressure cooker?

Thank you for the response! 20 mins boiling time isn't that bad. LOL
