Hey John, I'm stoked to find your videos here. You were the first rock act I ever saw, supporting the Angels at the Horden In 1982, I was 15. You were awesome. Your version of If I Were a Carpenter has always been one of my favourite songs. Thanks again, keep up the good work. Cheers!!
Yep a year before this my year 7 class went to Paddys Market.....that seems only like yesterday, but looking at this vid...seems like a lifetime ago... Great Song John.
they're not the Hilton car park ramps but the Sheraton Wentworth ramps in Castlereagh St and still there today. The majority of this clip was filmed in Park St coming from Elizabeth St towards the Pitt St Mall of today but was Pitt St then between King and Park St. Oh the memories come flooding back.
Didn't know who this was but just saw him on the new australia song. He has such a fantastic voice I had to look him up and now I can see I knew him all along. Some great songs of yesteryear and yes fantastic voice. JB's brother?? ha!
We used to enjoy a drink with swanee at the sylvania hotel when he lived down in the shire. VB with a dash of lime! Saw him at Heathcote pub a year or so ago with Alan Barnes leading off-great night. One of Oz true live talents.
Went with some mates to the Bombay Rock one night to see Swannee supporting Cold Chisel. That night Swannee blew Chisel off the stage. Would have been around the time Swannee had put out the live album Ready for Action 83/84 ? (Which I still have on vinyl ;-)
Working up a bit of a puff there John!? Lucky you got your addidas on. You rock mate. I snuck into a pub in Bris when I was 15 to see you....in like...1992. You kicked the drummer off teh stage in jest, and you blew the crowd away!!
No twin cab Hilux 4WDs then for the tradies. They were happy with their Kingswood, One Tonners and Falcon panel vans and station wagons. Three on the tree, inline carby fed six cylinder engines oh yeah.
John when are you coming back to newcastle... I seen you about fifteen years ago at a night club in Newie and there were only about fifteen people there, but fuck i had a good time.. Love the version of crying time you did with jimmy on denton.. awesome
How do I get my son to talk to me? We had words when he was going on 19, he is about to turn 30. The only son and child I have. He got married and had my grandchild without telling me. I dont have anyone to hug and cry this to.😔
Early 1980's Sydney CBD Street scenes!
God how I'm still in love with this classic!! Swanee you rock!!
I love Swanee ! This song and his version of If I were a carpenter are classic Aussie rock at it's best.
I’d forgotten all about this song. So glad to find it again. Nothing better than a gem of a song you find after so many years.
Swanee, you are a legend mate. What a sensational voice and the muso's are brilliant too. A great mix of a top song
NEVER. GETS. OLD.

Wow, I saw a late 70's Holden. Haven't seen one of those for more than a quarter of a century. At 51, this makes me feel quite old. 😱😲😨
It's the real deal. Makes me wonder - How much good music have I forgotten?
I saw Swanee at the Croxton Park Hotel in Melbourne, 83 or 84.
Heard it on the radio on Bay 93.9 Geelong the other night on my way to Melbourne. Haven't heard it since the 80's.
great song john, excellent.!!!! Loved this when i watched it on countdown.!!!!
Swanee, nailed every song he sung!

Better than Jimmy, in my opinion... Love this song, 1982

Came for Swanee nostalgia, stayed for the classic car show and ACDC's Brian Johnson sax solo!

Still love this tune John!!! Love to redo it! BTW, who played the Bari Sax solo?
+Matt McKenzie-Smith ..aaaah, Geoff Oakes!!
2:58 The Largs Pier Hotel, if I'm not mistaken... Knocked down many a schooner in that joint back in the day.
Swanee is very underrated compared to his younger brother!
2024 - who else is listening ?
Geez Panel vans were popular back then!
Awesome song mate, u smoke barnsey when it comes to music. Wish I could buy a cd album but I can't find one anywhere..
Look up his website, pretty much all of his CD's are available to buy once again.
