This man was my idol. I picked up a guitar and learned to play because of him. Hell, we even have the same bday. It truly breaks my heart that the Legend himself is gone. Though he may be gone, Eddie's legacy, and the impact he put on the music world will forever live on
Eddie is simply a guitar and keyboard GENIUS.
Eddie was an icon, a pioneer, a virtuoso, and irreplaceable. I will miss him terribly, as will millions of others.
Trying to actually come up with a definitive Top 10 list of Van Halen songs is like trying to ask Keith Richards to name his favorite drink or drug. Not possible. Too many good ones, too many great ones and too many times can it changes based on the mood yer in.
Richard Ray Fucking Exactly. Dreams is an amazing song that gives you this sense of Euphoria and makes you wanna Get shit done and could top any other list, But Then you have to compare it with songs like Panama and Hot For Teacher that are the definition of Rock and Roll.

“Why Can’t This Be Love” is the only Van Halen song other than “Jump” to reach #1 on the US Mainstream Rock Chart, and it didn’t even get an honorable mention. I think Mojo dropped the ball on that one.

Van Halen is one of my absolutely favourite bands and they were the first band I saw live back in 2012, Eddie is one of my favourite guitarists and one of my biggest influences on guitar

I'd like to think of Van Halen and Van Hagar as 2 different bands due to Van Halen's schism in sound from the early 80s to the late 80s. That, and different singers make the difference in the type of music.
True! It sucks cause EVH was just tossed into the back seat during the Hagar era. It just wasn't Van Halen anymore.
I agree 100%!! I loved VH with DLR and I loved solo Sammy. But together, hated it! I was glad only 2 Sammy songs made the top 10 but very disappointed Everybody Wants Some was only honorable mention! Jamie's Crying was missed also.

My heart feels heavy. We lost one of the greatest guitarists of all times. My brother told me the story of how he saw them live at South Padre Island in the early 80's, when David Lee Roth was still the singer. He said that after the show, David came into the crowd with a bottle of tequila and yelled, "Who's going to have a drink with me???!!!!" The crowd went nuts and my brother had a shot with David and Eddie. RIP Eddie. You've just joined the Gods of Rock.

I grew up loving Humans Being and the equally beautiful "Respect The Wind" both from Twister.
You guys really screwed this one up Mojo! Power Ranger movies? How does any VH fan even see a movie like this? If you need a pop culture cross reference then you can mention how "Jamie's Cryin" which should have been in the Top 10 (was famously sampled by Tone Loc for his #1 smash "Wild Thing") Your honorable mentions are really terrible too. All those bland Sammy songs but not "Why Can't This Be Love?", jeez, and where is "I'll Wait", "Ice Cream Man" & Beautiful Girls"?

Dude she lead it in with helped them bring in a new generation of fans. you know kids. I'm 21 now and my 1st real memory was going to see that movie with my dad. I now host a classic rock show on my local colleges radio station. something I root back to my favorite Van Halen song Dreams.

Based on popularity, this is a fairly good list. However, its still really difficult to rate because Van Halen & Van Hagar were 2 TOTALLY different sounding bands. Liked 'em both (with a heavy preference for Roth-era), but they were soooo different. Would almost be better to make 2 lists for this band, lol.

Definitely would put Running with the Devil up there too! But honestly there are too many good songs for a top 10
Man, I was waitin' for this! There are a few songs I expected to be on the list or in the honourable mentions, like Top Jimmy, And the Cradle Will Rock, and Mean Street. There are lots that I would have preferred on the list: Drop Dead Legs, Girl Gone Bad, Outta Love Again, Light Up the Sky, Fools, Little Dreamer, Secrets, Little Guitars, Hear About It Later... I would've loved to have seen a track from A Different Kind of Truth, too. She's the Woman rocks harder than the Hagar tunes on the list.
Just post Van Halen and 1984 and there's your list.
I think they should make a top 10 miscatagorized artists. May sound confusing but hear me out. Think of slayer. Slayers thrash but most noobs out there hear it as death metal. Or queen! For god sakes queen is POP in itunes! POP!!! Thats bullshit. It seems like a funny list they could do, but it may be hard finding 10 miscatagorized artists, so i doubt theyll make one, i might just because i think it will be funny.

Van Halen with David Lee Roth is a rock band for the joyfully immature amongst us. Sammy Hagar made the band grow up and gave them a new lease... Both did well at what they do.
Van Halen is my fav rock band ever! My fav songs from them are Love Walks In, Panama, Dreams, Jump, and Why Can't This Be Love. Eddie is an amazing guitarist, nobody can seriously top him. 5150 is also my fav album from them!
Edit: Rest in Peace to the best rock guitarist in my eyes, Eddie Van Halen. 🙏🏻 You will forever be missed!
The way you introduced Panama by actually playing the actual introduction was awesome...but I think Jump should've been no. 1
