Nice tips! I always take the distance to the back of the green and pick the club that I'd have to pure to reach that distance.

No need for a comment, Matt! I just recently started watching your videos. They are truly helpful to a golfer who seems to struggle, maybe not off the tee, but with that next shot: iron or hybrid? Par 4..Let's say 345 Yards... and then the real game begins. Your video in terms of just simply the very basics - as in this video - is simply very helpful! Cheers, all the best, and give us more of the same.

We all love to drive for show!!! But great advice here and course management is key, how many of us will be able to follow what makes perfect sense? Gonna try but no promises….lol
    Seriously though great advice/ coaching!!!!

All excellent information - and I do all of them. My only issue - most of the time, my clubs haven't watched your videos and they don't play along!! The best advice is to plan a hole - and as you have stated before, don't assume you will hit every club perfect - so assume things will go a little bit wrong.

That’s why I love my Donald Ross courses, typically no trouble off the tee. Just ripping driver into other fairways

Right team Fryer, you have my subscription, you get my likes. As a good old veteran of this fine British isle, I now need your expertise to fix my damn chunking. I go from shooting a solid 80, 84, 81, to a staggering 93,96 on the most recent round. I’m fatting shots bigger than Roy Chubby Brown.
Please give me an hour of your time, or better still, I’ll jump in the motor, pay my green fee, and join you for 9 / 18 holes to create some fat content. 👍🏻

Great tips Matt but for me a 27 HC I am so erratic that I'm not sure of club distance let alone shot shape....................That is until I've hit the bloody ball. LOL.

    I use Rick Shiels method.
    1. On very tight fairways hit driver
    2. Punch out
    3. Shoot laser at flag
    4. Chose iron you once hit that distance in studio
    5. Chip onto green from 20 yds short
    6. Two-putt

I play a course with a lot of short par 4s, for a decent length player I'd say 4 are drivable in summer. However right in the landing areas there are bunkers, out of bounds on some of the holes, trees you have to bend it round, bunkers in the middle of fairways. I see 20hcp golfers turn up on a weekend pulling driver on every hole, and wondering why they get in problems. I'm pulling 7/8 irons and leaving myself 90/100 yards in with a wedge.

Matt: "Once you hit the green, you know what you're doing"
Me: I wish. Too bad the YT algorithm doesn't give you viewer course stats. I'm hitting driver well, so I lost it on the greens now. Can't have all skills working at the same time

Slight conflict in our advice off the tee. You start by saying you may only hit it 180 then describe the strategy for avoiding water at 260 and a bunker at 230. Every stat at every level shows that the further you go off the tee the closer to the pin your approaches will be. The average golfer would want driver 100% of the time off that hole. Shot scope data shows that 3w is about 4 % more accurate on average but loses 40 yards. 80 yards in from the rough is more accurate that 120 from the fairway. So for you, I get your strategy. For most of us, hit driver and have less distance in!!

  • @erickbauer8888

I seldom use driver. I tee up with three wood on par 4 and par 5. Even long par 5 I cal reach in three but if it takes four I still can make par, bogey at worst. If I hit driver many times I can end up with double bogie.

I usually only use my driver 4-5 times a round, always surprised that most people always take out their driver. Giving them a great opportunity to get into trouble….

Forget your ego, forget what club your buddy is using play YOUR game and club. I almost take one iron more because it gives a little room for fat or thin shots but it also means I just need to make smooth swing not full out max swing. Max swings generally go bad.

  • @jpvincenti3571
    @jpvincenti3571 8 месяцев назад

Making a 5 won't wreck your round if you lay up or play right of the water. Making a 7 or 8 is disaster. Basically be smart about your game and play aggressive to a conservative target.

But...I spent $500 for my driver, I'm going to use it every hole I can. LOL. You only get 14 chances to use the driver on a typical 18 hole layout. I'm going to get my money's worth!

You have as many chances as you want. No one says you can’t hit driver for a 110yd par 3, or driver off deck from 20 yards off the green. If you really want to maximize that expense why stop at the tee shots you shouldn’t hit it on lol
