On Victoria Golfields Railway! My wife got me the ride up-front for my birthday this year. I thought I was taking video of the trip, but turned out I mis-pressed the button. All I got was the pulling into Maldon part. Thanks for this!
Great video - just found your channel so you’ve got one more subscriber. Good to see some lines in the hands of volunteers to keep history alive - and it’s not all old history either. And what about those lower quadrant somersault signals - now that’s a rarity.👍🏻👍🏻
Thank goodness this picturesque railway still has trains running on it,is the semaphore signal near the start sill in use, or is it a leftover from times past,I'm old enough to remember the semaphore signals, even on suburban lines
Black N on white background = return to Normal track speed? After the yellow 10 (kmh or mph?). Thanks for the vid. I've done that trip behind the J. The guys are doing a great job up there.
Done this trip many times, once on the foot plate of a "K" class, hard to imagine what the arrival of the railway meant to the people back in the 1800's.
Is the rail laid between the running lines Old rail or new rail to be used as replacement...? If old track why not sell it for scrap and get newer rail???
Was there just 1 Y class or 2 on this train, you seem to be getting along at a good clip for just 1? Keep the video’s coming, especially for these old branch lines. Great content.🇦🇺
Umm, they've been upgrading the rails from 60 lb rail to 80+ lb rail as well as resleepering. Not mainline standards of course as it is after all a branch line but the track is in very good condition for what it is.

You're welcome. I'm happy you enjoyed your ride to Maldon. 👍😀

Glad you liked it 👍 😊
Nice one. In fact just got back from dinner at the Maldon hotel tonight (Sunday) and nearly hit a roo.
Good meal and missed the roo. A good night all round 👍😊
Love these smaller Urban routes like these i follow them on Google earth
Glad to hear you enjoy them 👍 😀
Not urban.

Glad to hear you enjoy them and, yes it's great that we have volunteers looking after the history for future generations 👍😊
Thank you for this video concerning a very nice cab ride. Interesting the coachs seen at the end. Pity that the weather was not at the "rendez-vous"
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. We were lucky the weather did not rain on us that day 👍😊

Yes the semaphore is still in use. Not many left now 👍😊

@@johnsexton8759 yes, return to normal speed. Yes, they are doing a great job. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍 😀
I also agree, even though I'm originally from NSW
Different places, different scenery. Makes it great when we visit other places. 👍😊

Life changing back then 😀👍
the good old,,good old
Still going 👍😊
Any chance of a look at the old trains waiting for restoration beside the turntable? You don't get a good view from behind the fence.
That might be an idea for a future video 👍😊
got a video of a K class being turned on the turntable ,before going to Castlemaine,,really brought back memories.
@@pbrodie1065 Any chance of it being uploaded for us to share?

Very happy to hear you enjoyed it 👍 The train had just one Y class loco. 👍😊
Our foliage must look so exotic to European visitors
👍😊👌
Will they ever build a large workshop
They have a large shed at Maldon. I'm not sure of their future plans for any bigger workshops 👍😊
@@driver667 I thought they also have big shed at their Castlemaine Plateform as well.
the whole line needs to be upgraded
They are in the process of upgrading it. 👍😊

You realise this is a tourist railway?
No, it may not be perfect, but it’s ran by volunteers.
@@JusGiveMeMyMoney I wanted to give them $10 million for upgrades, but they said "we're good".
@@mjmcb1 10 million is a lot of money
