Thanks for watching it all! As an AppSumo pro, are there any tips I missed?
I didn't cover Black Friday... Anything else?

@@dave-swift I don't have a good grasp on the other sales throughout the year. Spring Sale, Sumo, Taco Day, etc. I'm not sure how many events there are with these special discounts. :)

I don't really get the argument that LTDs aren't a sustainable business model. If its price laddered well, it makes a great pricing strategy. Its as sustainable as baby diapers, the demand will always be there since new parents will always need them.

I can play devils advocate here.
When a company takes a one time payment but has recurring costs, it will cause them to become unprofitable unless they have a consistent stream of new customers.
You need to have enough data to project sustainability. Most LTDs are brand new companies not doing the math or assuming ideal market conditions.
However this doesn’t really matter for us the end user. If you buy when you are in need (just in time purchasing), and do some research (watch my videos!) LTDs will have a cost savings effect on tech spend!

The problem with your assessment is the phrase "price laddered well" ... That is something you can only know in hindsight..there's no way for you to predict all the different variables...
In my opinion the determining factor of success happens when they switch from LTD to a subscription...
You need LTD purchasers to be strong advocate and spread the word .you need influencers pushing your products to potential new customers...this is where advocates fall off as they love the product when it was a one time purchase but if it's just a copy cat of another product it has an uphill battle

Spoken like someone with only token or conceptual only business experience. LTD's are definitely not sustainable by any stretch of an informed imagination. Even relying on this model for the first year or three is completely untenable unless you're some kind of outrageously successful unicorn like the most recent Product of the Year, which has blown past every sales record every other product ever launched on AP, and even they have revenue strategies/opportunities that most startups can't even conceive of when starting out since they have established ultra successful market penetration on an international level. Your analogy to baby diapers is also entirely inappropriate since these softwares are generally obsolete in their created form inside of one to three years.

@desertcats1496 The point I bring up is that 92% of software companies fail within 3 years. LTD or not. Software is a commodity.
I'm looking out for the people buying software, not the people developing it.

@jzajzz The products that succeed long term have a really high level of quality.
Marketing gets easy when something is obviously the best. I can't think of many truly great AppSumo deals that failed because influencers didn't support them.
