There are many fields where you can apply in IT, you're not obligated to write code (having a basic knowledge anyway is helpful), it really depends on what you like to do / can do better. My growth of 401k is 2.74% in the past year. In this environment does investing under a brokerage with a custodian outperform a 401k? should I seek a pro to grow my funds on brokerage acct or still hold? I have 5 years to retirement. Happy to discuss.
Be careful not to be lured into the market too soon, this current situation has really opened my eyes to the importance of a good mentor on RUclips or elsewhere knowing what he/she is doing
the size of your retirement portfolio will overwhelmingly be a function of the performance of the stock and bond markets between now and when you start withdrawing from it.
Private investing is the best way to go about the market right now, especially for near retirees, I've been in touch with a wealth manager for awhile now netted 370thousand this downturn, made it clear there's more to the markets than we average joes know.
@@ClaudiaRom who is this manager you use? I lost over 50000 already this year on Vanguard. Im in need of guidance from a financial-planner going forward.
I am close to completing and launching an MVP of my own no-code SASS platform but I feel like I'm living in a different reality to Simon who seems to want to cater to the SASS creator market itself. This makes me scared. Is that all there is? With a platform of my own I am obviously way beyond implementing a micro-SASS. To me, all these ideas seem so niche and many feel like fleeting trends in a quickly evolving marketplace, easily supplanted by other products. My no/low-code RAD tool is designed to be used for internal purposes by SMBs (with public facing possibilities). I've been programming such business applications professionally for 25+ years, and with my new tool could crank out 95% of the same apps out at 10x the speed or more. Those kind of internal business apps aren't going anywhere. For the cost, my tool would even be worth it as a prototyping tool. It was my frustration with the complexities of many technologies and frameworks which led me to have to build it just for my sanity. It may seem similar to other products, but I believe it has a novel take on the development problem and is more like a webified no code super MS-Access. It's not that my project couldn't be adapted to some of the ideas in the video, but a lot of the ideas expressed require extensive coding and experience of domain areas I am unfamiliar with. I am looking for business ideas, by the way, that aren't B2B, API, social or AI related. That seems like everything these days, but it really isn't. As I said, watching this makes me feel like I am living in a different reality. Apps built with my no-code SASS would not only provide a solution but a means for the customers themselves to continually adapt and grow the solutions either on their own or with minimal help with my company providing consulting services for edge cases. I guess I am really creating a consultancy with a SASS tool at its main product. A platform tool that could be open source(to mitigate lock-in concerns if required) for sufficiently large customers(with some restrictions), and can even be run locally or on premises through traditional software licensing. I am open to loss-leader projects at the moment and partnerships with subject matter experts who want to build something to cater to a particular business area.
Nice vid for aspiring Indie Makers! However, need to be careful when choosing the tool you're building (otherwise all your efforts can be eliminated in less than a day). Platform risks are a real thing & building a great product doesn't equal making $$$ off it. If you don't want to jump from one Indie Project to the next each month, you better future-proof your business model by researching which niches have the most demand & how to develop a SaaS that won't be eliminated by competitors in just a few hours). Happy building 👷♂
If anyone needs help addressing the platform risk or needs to make their SaaS more stable I’m happy to help. I’ve been doing it for decades. I’m also open to a technical founder relationship.
But the subscription is 119$/month for bubble to grow your user base. Its 30$/month to make a app or website. Does that mean that amount of money throughout the years we run that app?..
How many hours expected to build such tools for Solo developer? Any productivity advice here would be highly appreciated ❤ Not to say that a Solo developer might already have a full time job
Mmmmm I'm interested in this automation use case would need more clarity on what type of automation you are asking for? I am full stack dev / unicorn 🦄 who is also a product designer. Been itching to get into a micro saas and I'm an avid notion user
Hi, thx for the great ideas. I am a senior full-stack developer. If you don't mind, can we discuss a little bit more about the SSL certification manager idea? I recently developed a custom SSL certificate automation product for one of my clients ( generating certificates, adding to load balancer and renewing etc... ). I would love to solve this issue in a bigger way.
Hi like your above ssl management. I need your help for SSL implementation. my case is is user add a custom domain so I will apply the SSL certificate on it and I using node js and nginx how i can implement this can you help me
Hi @user-rv1wq5te5u, I was looking for more information about this issue. I run some server installation, and to certified some domain name, it could be painful. Did you make some progress on this topic?
Great video, Simon. What ideas do you have for financial services? I have no coding experience but very keen on building a tech startup. Where do i begin from?
@SomeMustGiveWay Hi, I am a Business Analyst from a tech company, we can take your SaaS Idea to market in just weeks , using our built in framework without having to write code from scrach. We are experts in B2B SaaS app development. Please let me know if you are interested?
A doubt about the last idea. How would it be a SaaS? It sounds more like a huge code library with complex API integration codes reduced to easy-to-use components for different languages.
I interpreted as providing a middleware library to easily interact with any api. Often times even when there's an api you have to write tons of custom logic. So you could provide a much nicer api with a library. For example a bank api, gives you transactions, and accounts but it doesn't give you an easy way to query transactions to match a payee name. I think this idea has a lot of potential. But imo it would be tremendous amount of work. Rather than doing all apis, it would be better to select a niche topic per library.
For the SSL manager idea, perhaps Cloudflare's "SSL for SaaS" offering would fit? It allows users to bring their own domain names; CF handles the SSL certs and proxying to your domain. Or do you need more specific options?
Hey Simon, I'm a full-stack freelancer. Recently, I got a new project to extract locations from images and display them on Google Earth Pro. I have successfully completed it according to the client's requirements. However, I want to make it more interesting. So, the question is, what do you think about it? Should I add something to enhance it?
@@SimonHoiberg Am I correct in thinking you want to trigger these actions based on some Notion events? Because I see they have no webhooks which makes that kind of integration virtually impossible. If we are talking reverse scenarios where external events (from other apps/systems) need to implement actions inside Notion, than that could be done. Which is probably what zappier is doing. Zappier is not what you are looking for?
@@dlednik Yes, that's correct. And yes, exactly - they don't have any webhooks. Though, that's why we need a tool! Not virtually impossible at all 😉 But more challenging. Which is why (I believe) people would want to pay for a solution.
@@SimonHoiberg there is also considerable risk you build something like this and get too much traction, then Notion releases webhooks for free as part of their plans :)
I actually was just about to build the e-learning SaaS in a gameified way al the last moment I decided not to but since you too think it’s a good idea watch out you might want to subscribe
I am planning on making an educational / financial Saas, if you're interested in knowing more please let me know im happy to discuss further. Great Video btw!!
Hah, when I was saying "I know quite a few agencies [...]" in this video, I was actually thinking of you, among others. Indeed, we need that Notion automation tool 🔥
The idea drop definitely sparked something in people, but i don't see anything significant done yet (unless shortsighted with available services). I've been working on a plan for similar offering for few weeks now, any input on what is expected of such service would be of a great help sharpen the vision. cheers! 🍻
Thanks! This is actually a good confirmation that productizing these Notion templates might be a good idea 👌 You're not the first one to ask. I'll try to look into this shortly!

Hey Simon, thank you for this video. Since you asked, I am really interested in looking more into the third idea you spoke about. An all purpose API integration platform. I have a small team of developers and UX designers who’d be interested in joining the venture. I’m open talk more about the plan and potentially work together. Have a nice day :)
I try to bring a lot of value in every video I publish. And just like many other RUclipsrs have outside sponsors, I choose to take a minute to talk about the SaaS we run instead 😊 I think that's fair enough, isn't it?
@@SimonHoiberg I love your videos Simon, not trying to hate, but sometimes I feel like the main purpose is to talk about your SaaS companies instead of providing value. I would love to see you go into more details and be more in-depth with your content. You used to make videos where you actually really taught us and now the videos feel kinda bland. No hate, just constructive criticism, I want to see you succeed!
@@markksantos I appreciate the feedback 🙏 No, the *main* purpose is not to promote my products. But it is *one* of the purposes of my videos, indeed. What is "valuable" and what is "bland" is quite subjective. Maybe you're not taking the same value from a video like this as someone else might. Judging from comments, engagements and private metrics, it seems like quite a few people do find it valuable. I still appreciate your feedback! Definitely noted 👌
I want to build a saas over chatgpt but I am not sure how to go about, using api from openai, how to pay for API and how can I know the users will use a certain amount of tokens?? Please help this process, and can I charge users to use my platform??? How
Ok, yeah - the video is about how to bootstrap a SaaS as a solo founder, so I tried to put myself in "character"... I didn't actually fire my own team 😅 Haha, but point taken, I see how it's a bit confusing.
Hi Simon, thank you for the video, very interesting as always. I am currently building my first SaaS on top of OpenAI API which consists in a start-up / business project management tool whole the way from AI-assisted customer persona definition to pitch practice with an AI-generated investor. The idea has already been validated through the method your presented in a previous video of yours. I would love to discuss this further with you if you are interested. Let me know if we can reach out.
This sounds like a great idea! I'd live to hear more. Hit me up on hey@simonhoiberg.com - I get a lot of emails, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can 🙌
Hey Simon, currently I am building a SaaS for smaller companies to help manage the employee's over-due time and vacation/holiday requests. Longer term I would like to integrate Google Calendar, Slack and add some AI/ML. I am curious what you think about this idea.
Hi , I am a Business Analyst from a tech company, we can take your SaaS Idea to market in just weeks , using our built in framework without having to write code from scrach. We are experts in B2B SaaS app development. Please let me know if you are interested?
Hi Great content but can you solve this problem, You have one unique idea next thing everyone tried building same products? so how can you make it different from others. I built Code Runner Plugin for Chatgpt that solved the problem since people started copying my idea but still i am getting lots of traffic and my plugin offers much more services than others. Thats why its still best in market.
Currently we handle blog post automation, issue tickets, changelog items and project management through GitHub. Those are things that will create a ton of value with most SaaS teams, at least.
Hey Simon, awesome video as always! On the Notion automation topic, tools like Make provide some functionality for this (for example, you can have multiple Notion modules that feed into each other). What is missing there in you view? Are there any specific features that you would like to see in such a tool?
Great video, as usual Simon!!! The LowCode Integration Platform is a great idea! As Senior software engineer and solo entrepreneur I often find myself having to integrate third-party services, starting from scratch. Aside from payment tools (Stripe and Paypal), Slack, maybe Teams, what other tools can you think of? I want to start thinking about a solution with Javascript libraries and web platform
Hey, Alessio! That's awesome. On the top of my head, I'm thinking various social media tools like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc and CRM tools like HubSpot, Monday and project management tools like Notion, ClickUp, etc. Great addition would also be analytics tools such as Amplitude, Heap, etc. These tools all have custom APIs, and are commonly integrated into other SaaS tools.
Heh Im on the way building low code integration platform. Its still on-going and I needed much more supported functionality that I expected. However Its much more advance than for example Zappier. Im still working on ads and funnel pages so I can't show you stable page, especially because currently I work on change server. The system is combination BPM and RPA, it maps functionality from external platform into functionality, so if its need to send up an informations to someone, it search if you have Facebook, Slack or Email integrated and data nessesery to do that, later make a chan of step that could be done manually or automatic. Cool think is that that I also manage to integrate into robots, but still its needed to have Our "router" and "adapters" that transform robots and sensors into standaraze communication system. Also It has JS SDK to integrate with your tool, I can make also SDK in another language if you need. Still I build this for last 2 years so Im not how many up here have enouht skills and determinations to do something similar.
Hello thank u for dat I have just one question if I want make an ap with full IA, do i have to buy an account on all that IA tools to Connect all them with zappier or make ?
I hope you got a spike of new motivation from this video.

Mine was 8.16%, I used to dca into etfs but I reconsidered the strategy since I am still way behind after the massive downturn since Jan last year
Be careful not to be lured into the market too soon, this current situation has really opened my eyes to the importance of a good mentor on RUclips or elsewhere knowing what he/she is doing
the size of your retirement portfolio will overwhelmingly be a function of the performance of the stock and bond markets between now and when you start withdrawing from it.
Great video, thank you for all these useful tips
Awesome video! Do you cut your videos yourself?
Great video. Very insightful.
Glad you enjoyed it 🙌
If anyone needs help addressing the platform risk or needs to make their SaaS more stable I’m happy to help. I’ve been doing it for decades. I’m also open to a technical founder relationship.
Anyone else won big with 4ra? Their odds are the fairest and winnings are sweet 🏆💰
But the subscription is 119$/month for bubble to grow your user base. Its 30$/month to make a app or website. Does that mean that amount of money throughout the years we run that app?..
Hi 👋, I’m currently building LectureKit
It’s a headless learning management tool 😊
Uh, nice! I'll check this out 😄
How is it going?
How many hours expected to build such tools for Solo developer? Any productivity advice here would be highly appreciated ❤ Not to say that a Solo developer might already have a full time job
Two days
Mmmmm I'm interested in this automation use case would need more clarity on what type of automation you are asking for? I am full stack dev / unicorn 🦄 who is also a product designer.
Been itching to get into a micro saas and I'm an avid notion user
I like the last one
Uh, financial services!
That's a good one - but probably not the best area for solo founders.
(There's a lot of laws and requirements to comply with).
@SomeMustGiveWay Hi, I am a Business Analyst from a tech company, we can take your SaaS Idea to market in just weeks , using our built in framework without having to write code from scrach.

Feedhive needs to make a video showing the bulk upload feature
It's very straight forward 😄

I'm already building it
A doubt about the last idea.
MergeAPI integrates with a lot of other services, IDK if it's low code though
Simon Interesting video.
I have one idea to build with the OpenAI API.
Just want to come with you to show. let's have a plan for that.
For the SSL manager idea, perhaps Cloudflare's "SSL for SaaS" offering would fit? It allows users to bring their own domain names; CF handles the SSL certs and proxying to your domain. Or do you need more specific options?
And its Free :)
I want to connect with you 😅
What kind of automation is needed for Notion? Any examples to get a better idea?
Syncing tasks, adding comments with new information, syncing with GitHub, automatically assigning certain team members based on labels, etc etc.
@@SimonHoiberg Wow! we already working on things like you described) Thanks for confirming our thoughts.
I actually was just about to build the e-learning SaaS in a gameified way al the last moment I decided not to but since you too think it’s a good idea watch out you might want to subscribe
💪💪
What is your better boilerplate to create something?
I’m gonna do the EdTech app🎉
Awesome 💪

Nice, I've heard about this. Will have to check it out.
I am planning on making an educational / financial Saas, if you're interested in knowing more please let me know im happy to discuss further. Great Video btw!!
Hey
I am interested
Me as well
A Notion automation tool would be massive! 🔥
I've been working on a plan for similar offering for few weeks now, any input on what is expected of such service would be of a great help sharpen the vision. cheers! 🍻
@@bishawshrestha6290interesting:) have you started building it?
Any way i can get your Notion project management view template ( i know its 2 much) , but yeah it looks amazing. And you videos are pure gold as well!
Thanks! This is actually a good confirmation that productizing these Notion templates might be a good idea 👌 You're not the first one to ask.
I'll try to look into this shortly!
1,2,4 mixed is smething I am working on!
Cool 😄
Pls take a very good one of your ideas, and provide us a detailed video on how you would create the software ......(a masterclass)😊
I was thinking about a service ticket manager based on AI, The evolution of ServiceNow or JIRA. What do you think?

01:48 Develop a no-code chat GPT-like interface with a specific twist and capitalize on cost-saving benefits.
03:31 Building successful SaaS tools on top of Notion.
05:19 Create an automation Hub for Notion with ready-made integration plugins for custom automation workflows.

Other ideas: Adding AI to Gimp or Inkscape, Make ARM computer for linux/win12, ...
Awesome as always. I really enjoy your videos and great edit

Awesome! Welcome here 🙌
Solopreneurs rise up
Simon are all these videos just made to promote SaaS?
I try to bring a lot of value in every video I publish. And just like many other RUclipsrs have outside sponsors, I choose to take a minute to talk about the SaaS we run instead 😊
I think that's fair enough, isn't it?
How
One minute you say you fired everybody the next you’re talking about “my team and I” 😂
Ok, yeah - the video is about how to bootstrap a SaaS as a solo founder, so I tried to put myself in "character"... I didn't actually fire my own team 😅
Haha, but point taken, I see how it's a bit confusing.
Hit me up on hey@simonhoiberg.com - I get a lot of emails, but I'll get back to you as soon as I can 🙌
@@SimonHoiberg I've sent you an email, looking forward to hear from you :)
Hey Simon, currently I am building a SaaS for smaller companies to help manage the employee's over-due time and vacation/holiday requests. Longer term I would like to integrate Google Calendar, Slack and add some AI/ML.
I am curious what you think about this idea.

Hi Great content but can you solve this problem,
You have one unique idea next thing everyone tried building same products? so how can you make it different from others.
I built Code Runner Plugin for Chatgpt that solved the problem since people started copying my idea but still i am getting lots of traffic and my plugin offers much more services than others.
Thats why its still best in market.
I built the product, How do I test and promote it? How can I contact you?
Great video!! What are some automation tasks do you handle by your team? Kindly list them.
Currently we handle blog post automation, issue tickets, changelog items and project management through GitHub.
Those are things that will create a ton of value with most SaaS teams, at least.
@@SimonHoiberg Wow, thanks for this.
@@SimonHoiberg What CMS do you use for your blog?
Hi Simon! How would you go about making a better interface for a specialized project management SaaS built on Notion?
Would you consider a project management SaaS built from scratch?
Hey Simon, awesome video as always! On the Notion automation topic, tools like Make provide some functionality for this (for example, you can have multiple Notion modules that feed into each other). What is missing there in you view? Are there any specific features that you would like to see in such a tool?
I was thinking about the same thing, Symon do you have an example of integration that is complicated to perform with make?
@@SimonHoiberg Thanks for the elaboration!
Hi @MrMomy85, how are you planning to monetize this service :)?
What are some ways to market your SAAS while building for free or small budget ?
Hello thank u for dat I have just one question if I want make an ap with full IA, do i have to buy an account on all that IA tools to Connect all them with zappier or make ?
