- After David Benavidez made his light heavyweight debut against Oleksandr Gvozdyk now we look torwards the future to see whats next for The Mexican Monster. We look at how Benavidez went in the Gvozdyk fight, what that means for his future and who could be his next opponent. With Bivol, Beterbiev and Canelo Alvarez all potential opponents. With discussion also surrounding the topic of why Canelo is yet to fight Benavidez.
After the Bivol fight, the Saudis talked Benavidez v Bivol, Crawford v Canelo. Its already mapped out
It’s beterbiev vs bivol first in September or October
na benavidez wants to go back down to 168
Benavidez been a weight bully all this years he beats guys for his weight and size advanage at 168 not by skills...now the truth comes out he wasn't 189 he came at 203 pounds in fight night
He dominated the entire fight. Won every round and yet he’s still a weight bully
Weight bully is a nonsensical term, if someone can make the weight they can make the weight. They are doing nothing wrong.
@@Mokuteke won every round??jajja I guess you miss the fight after the 6 round 🤣🤣 he fought a 38 year old coming from a 4 year laid off🤣🤣🤣
@@kb-is1jn naw I watched the whole card. Even the rounds that benny looked good in the other guy didn’t take those rounds he never landed anything super significant he was just surviving
He came in at 205 ? Really? I’m genuinely curious what source did u get this from
Benavidez isnt good and now has to choose who will beat him, Beterbiev, Bivol, or Canelo. Gvozdyk wasn't a live opponent and if Canelo could knock out a younger Kovalev, Benavidez should have been able to do so to an older Gvozdyk. Doesn't help that Gvozdyk wasn't really hitting him with anything hard, just little tip tap punches. Benavidez leaves his hands open for a long time when he loads up his weak power shots, his defense is still weak and struggles moving back, and he has a weak gas tank. He's food for anyone good.
Facts he’ll loose against canelo to many counter openings for bro fr. He has potential and dedication I’ll give benavidez that 💯
Canelo put a rehydration clause on Kovalev when they fought and he was washed up too . If Canelo was really fighting for legacy he wouldve GLADLY accepted the rematch with Bivol at 168 Canelo is a coward & only cowards defend him cause birds of a feather! Bivol will go to 168 & whoop that paper champion & then you are left with 36 year old Canelo with NO BELTS! Legacy my ass!
@@user-NofaceNocaseSay it without crying
@@ValtierraArestra Hurt by the truth??
@@user-NofaceNocase A paper champion who has the best resume in current boxing, isn’t that something new?
He dominated the entire 12 rounds. It is kind of backhanded to see him dominate and then to say he didn't put him down. The guy he faced was a former champ and got knocked out by arguably one of the hardest punchers in boxing right now. He is not going down easily. I will prob fight him but down the road.
Well when benavidez goes about saying he dominated okeksandre in sparring and states before the fight in every interview he will put him down viciously then you hate to criticize him for not doing that. Then the excuses come out and he’s more optimistic about moving down ? Cmon the dudes a walking contradiction that’s not as good as he says he is or as u think he is
@@RG-gv8ss I hear what you are saying - he didn't live up to the expectations that he put out there, but regardless, he still dominated. He is still a force to be reckoned with. It doesn't make him less of a skilled boxer or anything else.
@@juiceedakid it does the oleksandre is a 37 year old that was tap hitting benavidez the whole fight and benavidez couldn’t stop a punching bag with legs. He just doesn’t have power at his natural weight class
@@RG-gv8ssThen Canelo doesn’t have power because he couldn’t put down Charlo?
Bro. Charlo ran for 12 rounds and to exposed you charlo took a knee while gvozdyk didn't feel benavidez power@@alfredocasas2229
David looked like the fastest 175 fighter right now his speed for the weight class is insane I think once he fills out his frame he’ll take over the division.
Faster than Bivol 😂
He already big he needa add muscle now. He looks soft in the body
@@petitefleurici I agree Gvozdyk wasn't putting much behind his punches, like he was paid to be a punching bag, but he wouldn't lay down
It looked like vozdik was paid not throw hard punches at David the first 8 rounds. He fucked him up bad when he started throwing the last 4 rounds.
@user-kc6eb8sl6h That shows you how good david is. And this guy was still active training Canelo even tho he wasn't boxing. It's not like he was just eating and laying around on vacation
Benavidez is a great young fighter and will only continue to get better. Pray that all fighters stay healthy after every bout. This sport is relentless. Appreciate all these warriors.
Benavidez proved he has no chin and no punching power to fight boxers his own size. He walks at 200 pounds, started his career at 180 and went DOWN 2 weight classes to 168 to pick fights against smaller/lighter boxers for the last 10 years. This guy is no monster only the biggest weight bully in boxing, he has no chance against Bivol or Beterbiev that’s why he is so desperate to stay at 168. He deserves no recognition and no payday at 168
this👏
Beterbiev vs Gvozdyk was a two sided match. With Beterbiev coming in with a one punch K.O. Benavidez vs Gvozdyk was a one sided match with Benavidez dominating majority of rounds.
If he can make the weight he can make the weight🤷🏻♂️
@@Coolkids-zy3rxdon’t forget to mention he was 37-38years of age lol 😂
David had nearly 10 years to acquire and unify belts and he did fuck all.
I personally don't feel sorry for him. He will get his shot but on someone else's time since he wasted his own
Hes 27 😭
@@Bigups_jrhe actin like he wasnt the most ducked fighter at 168 even before canelo got there😂😂😂
Mononeuronal comment
I still think Canelo can beat Benavidez I would like him to fight him just so people shut up but if we don’t get that fight after the Berlanga fight I doubt we ever get it
Nah, he only was a "monster" due his insane weight advantage, he should be a man and fight guys with the same weight of him
Thats what a weigh in is for right? He could add size to his frame sure, but you cant even atriculate that. But sure, keep talking.
people online get wayy to comfortable with their disrespect. Calm down lil bro
Exactly MOST of these "fans" have no idea what they're talking about... Canelo started at 140 😂😂, when he got to the US he fought as low as 149. Canelo moved up 3 weight classes by the time he was 27 yrs old and had won 6 belts between 154&160 and defended his 4 belts at 154 6 consecutive times....
Benavidez started at 168 and JUST now moved up to fight.... GVOZDYK 😂. why didn't bro fill in against Bivol last month???
@@thediaz07yall actin like canelo wasnt coming in 25 lbs overweight at that weight class😂😂
@@thediaz07 Canelo couldn't move back down to 140, 147, 154, or 160 if he tried his absolute hardest. He is a full 168lber. So big that he's literally called out Cruiserweights. He's KOed a Light Heavyweight before. But you call Benavidez a weight bully. What do you call Canelo then for fighting Charlo 2 weightclasses below him? You also act like Gvozdyk is bad but he's top 10 in that division.
In boxing, sometimes looking bad makes the big guys want to fight you more....
Is that what we're going with? While your comment might be true Benavidez really showed why he likes fighting smaller guys than himself.
@@thediaz07 ain't going with nothing. Just offering another way of looking at things
That's true but I don't think Benevidez did it intentionally.
@@jwac8800 I understand..it's just that A LOT of boxing analysts are making excuses for Benavidez right now..."he hurt his left hand in sparring and his right hand in the fight", " Benavidez had a previous cut over his eye".." Benavidez had mental fatigue bc Gvozdyk wasn't going down easily"...
Yet when Canelo ACTUALLY had surgery on his right hand after the Bivol, Ryder & GGG fight no one wanted to hear it. There's a HUGE double standard for Benavidez right now.
If you look invincible like GGG, people will avoid you...Everyone wanted to fight Kambosos after his huge win
Benavidez looked rly sharp in his win. I'm dissappointed to see a majority of fans upset they didn't get a KO. He was throw a variety of shots and looked rly sharp too. His ring IQ keeps getting better and better.
Well said
Hello mate i really want to edit your mma and boxing videos at high level.
nobody noticed Gvodyk game plan was to tire Benavidez out into the later rounds and then come on strong but unfortunately for him, he didnt throw enough volume or wrestle in the clinch enough to really sap Benavidez enough to finish him
2019 Gvozdyk beats Benavidez..easy.
@@thediaz07 his footwork looked amazing but i agree the ten year age difference was a big factor
I’m not understanding the stamina issues. If anything boiling down to 168lbs should sap more of his energy and 175lbs should’ve helped rejuvenate him, but it was the opposite.
That wasn't it, Gvozdyk was just his size or a little bigger even. His punches just didn't effect Gvozdyk the way it does fighting 168 pounders. He still won all 12 rounds but he's not beating someone like Beterbiev or Bivol.
100% correct
@@MarkoTianothis capp , u see the thing is everybody handles benavidez power until the later rounds. benavidez isn’t a 1 shot ko artist, but his stamina is so good he constantly pressures u every single round until u quit. most of his ko’s are tko’s. people quitting on the stool or towels thrown in. but vs gvozdyk he kept going for the 1 punch stoppage. that shit gassed him out quick and took his power in the later rounds which is when he usually does his best at
He no longer has Memo in his camp bro
@mafioso5004 You didn't get what i was saying. The shots did not do anything to Gvozdyk, it didn't even faze him like it does to 168 pounders. Did he do bad? No, but will be enough for Beterbiev? No way. I knew once David goes up he won't take dudes apart and this was an out of retirement fighter in Gvozdyk.
keep posting dawg
Very critical analysis of the fight IMO.
Gvozdyk is solid & established at this weight class, as you mentioned. He had COVID off but last year dealt with Bolotniks, a top 15 guy, with ease. He was always going to be a difficult fight for Benavidez and IMO Benavidez dealt with him well.
Benavidez showed the bigger man, in Gvozdyk, no respect and walked him down and outlanded him in every exchange. Gvozdyk was throwing for the sake of throwing, wasting alot of his shots.
Gvozdyk only got into it in the final 3 or so rounds, which could've gone either way. Dominant from Benavidez IMO. He is a 168lber and only testing 175 because Canelo is a duck.
Why are you giving so much credit to Benavidez fighting a 37 year old coming out of retirement after fighting tomato cans. Gvozdyk wasn't there to win and threw the weakest punches I've ever seen, but was able to eat Benavidez power shots like they were noting
1.) idk where i missed it but i watched gvozdyk in his prime when he beat Stevenson. He was always world class and people should watch his fight against beterbiev. Gvozdyk is not a push over by any means
2.) he won almost every round so idk where people get this “exposed” idea from. Since when is winning 10-2 a sign of anyone getting exposed? Because he didnt stop gvozdyk? Shit only beterbiev stopped him and that was a crazy fight
You clearly don't know how to score a fight. Benavidez clearly won, but in a 7-5 fight
@@desanctisapostata if you’re scoring 7-5 mate i would argue you shouldn’t be near any scorecards. Stevie wonder probably has a better score card than that…
@@kevinsmoon3257 Argue then. Tell wich rounds you gave David AND why. It's easy to say your scorcard, but can you back It up?
@@desanctisapostata 9,11,12 for gvozdyk is what i remember my score card being and it was based off of pure activity, nothing really impactful. Gvozdyk just didn’t seem to have confidence in his shots and didnt amount significant offense.
@@kevinsmoon3257 I thought you said 10-2. So you already contradicting your first statement. I agree Gvozdyk fought as if It was an sparring match (wich, if this was Canelo, Crawford or Joshua we would be already hearing all boxing media outlets calling this a fix) and never landed anything with authority, but that's not how I score or boxing should be scored, if that was the case, Canelo-Bivol being 5-7 would actually make sense, but It doesn't. Gvozdyk didn't land any hard shots on David, but from round 7 ondwards he outlanded and outworked David, even if those shots were pitty patters, he was still touching AND scoring on David (not unlike how Bivol was still outscoring Canelo, despite him mostly only touching Canelo) more than David was scoring on him. 3 hard David punches do not outscore 8 soft Gvozdyk punches. I gave Gvozdyk every round from 8 onwards. I'll rewatch the entire fight on slow mo eventually, and if I have a different score, I'll tell you.
I don’t think Canelo fights Benavidez without a rehydration clause. And good for him. Benavidez takes advantage of his massive rehydration.
Though that wouldn’t be very good for David since he’s slower at 175 even rehydrating at 168, he’s just too slow for a guy like canelo and doesn’t have the defense to help it, I genuinely think canelo could finish him even without a rehydration clause
Injuries make you gas-out faster. They just put an extra constant toll on your body whilst performing
nah Gvodyk literally let him punch himself and it wasn't until the mid point of the fight did Gvodyk start pushing forward.. prior to that all he did was high guard and throw jabs whilst moving laterally.
@@herondope5675 sure but injuries do take energy out of you. Especially hand injuries
excuses put a constant toll on fans who just want to watch good fights
Excuse
Can you make a video about yugoslav boxing because i think it can make a really interesting video
Highly doubt the fight should even happen I'd say Benavidez needs to forget Canelo for now and focus on his new weight class right now i don't think he should fight Bivol or Beterbiev he needs more time and use to his 175 class
I assumed Canelo and Benavidez have some sort of agreement already mapped out, they’re just creating hype for the fight. At least I hope that’s the case 😅
Canelo vs Munguia was the most fun fight that Saul has been involved in for some years now and I think
Canelo vs Benavidez would be even more exciting!!
Would have been interesting to see Benavidez vs Gvozdyk a few years ago.
Gvozdyk by KO
The 10 days to decide the weight class doesn’t help though.
On the one hand he returns to 168 with no mando status and canelo once again “can do whatever he wants” and ignore him.
On the other moves up to 175 but not allowed to go back to 168 for the belt.
This is a lose lose situation.
Benavidez moved up when he became the official mandatory for Canelo. Canelo called him into the ring and was star struck. Benavidez don’t want to fight Canelo. He’s just using Canelos name to stay relevant
Canelo asked for 200 mil, stating the fight doesn’t bring anything to him.

Canelo or Beterbiev would make for a great fight
In Canada they have same day weight ins for pros I like that more
Alvarez-Benavidez two Mexicans with suspect stamina. Mexican fighters are usually endless endurance
Benavidez can’t handle the boxers at 175 he even broke his hands thats why he wants to go back to 168 he wants to keep been a bully
Not a chance. Canelo knows that David stops him in 7 rounds!
That’s cap. He said he was training for 4 months for this fight not 6 weeks
Benavidez is wbc 168lbs mandatory, pacheco is wbo mandatory which would get called back to back with wbc so if he beat Pacheco then after Alvarez fights scull or berlanga or whoever benavidez can flush him out
Everybody else crying that they seen something, it would be crazy if Canelo beat the snot out DB who knows
it was finally next for years from our perspectives, from canelo's? it will never be next
I’m not seeing what you saw I’m no benny fanboy. But what I saw was a guy dominate for 12 rounds. It was a clean sweep. Benny showed a lot. And he’s only gonna become more comfortable at that weight the more he’s fights up there. Which will solves the stamina issue he had in the later rounds. He’s also seemed to be head hunting early to make a highlight which also contributed to him gassing I think he looks two times better in his next fight I’m hoping it’s bivol fuck canelo he the duck of the year. Not just for ducking Benny but also for ducking bud
david should fight buatsi
Benavidez not the same when he cannot weight bully people
nope going to be Canelo versus Crawford or someone else because Canelo wants cherry pick and try to fight someone 3 weights lighter . It’ll be another bivol situation where he gets whooped.
Nope ,Canelo will not fight Benavidez. He will fight a 9th or lower ranked fighter.
Why is everyone talking like he lost
Lackluster performance ? Benavidez dominated that fight be looked beatable but still dominated that fight
Canelo stalling GGG by fighting guys like Khan and Chavez
Now he’s stalling Benavidez
Canelo’s fought some tough competition but damn when it comes to boss fights he’s really not eager to fight

Why does canelo look like Matt huges
Be careful what you ask for Benavidez you didn't look that good in your last fight even though it was at 175
Canelo will fight berlanga next, sadly.

No no no get that through y’all thick head , king canelo is not gonna fight babynavidez 😂
Canelo probably won’t be interested in moving up and I doubt DB would wanna move down. He needs to move on from this canelo shit and stick to 175.
No power. No stamina.
Strange fight, more like a sparring. Nither fighter was in danger in any point of the fight.
That’s not true at all. Guy simply had a good chin and knows how to tense his neck when he’s gonna get hit with a big shot some of those shots from benny would have KO guys in both weight classes. Regardless benny Look great up until he got tired which is expected for someone jumping up in weight for their first fight
@@Mokuteke we did look good till the 8th round, i didn't say a word about it. I said that he gassed and Gvozdyk eat all his shots without a blink.
