Vedder is not just a Rock and Roll singer.... he is a Rock historian. He knows the great talents that went before.... and he has influenced a generation in his own legacy. A great voice.
Eddie eddie eddie...bit of emotion came to me each time thid mate open his mouth and sing... Could be a recipe or Ikea instruction...lots of feeling, emotions and so on through all of these years thanks this bloke...
Tom petty once said: you've never heard a song until you hear eddie vedder sing it, i'm not saying his covers are better, but hell, this man has something that just triggers my tears and shivers my soul.
The lad is a ledgend. Its interesting to see how he matured through the years... so much that I can say he is still to provide us with the best of his work. Lucky us
May God's blessing keep you always May your wishes all come true May you always do for others And let others do for you May you build a ladder to the stars And climb on every rung May you stay Forever young May you grow up to be righteous May you grow up to be true May you always know the truth And see the lights surrounding you May you always be courageous Stand upright and be strong And may you stay Forever young Forever young Forever young May you stay Forever young May your hands always be busy May your feet always be swift May you have a strong foundation When the winds of changes shift May your heart always be joyful May your song always be sung And may you stay Forever young Forever young Forever young May you stay
I have always admired Eddie Vedder, and must express my amazing delight at how well he made this Dylan song come alive......WOWW!! "when the winds of changes shift...."
nobody does a cover like him! he respects the original! I like to jam but his covers made me love him. he is a great musician who loves other musicians! he is not trying to make a song better or change it. he is singing the so he he loves in his own way!
@Kfs616 I know! I'm totally on a PJ/Eddie Vedder BENDER...especially with the 20th anniv of TEN - reminding me. All of the memories of my high school years flooding, swirling around..making me cry and laugh, too, as I relisten to all of it. Vedder's voice and lyrics have always had a giant impact on me.. from age 12 in 1991 to age 32 in 2011. I'm right there with ya - 6 CDs filling your player!
I hav just been schooled, Thank you sir. Just Wiki'd the song, has roots goin back hundred plus years. Quite Fitting and understandable for such an epic song.
sometimes he seems so vulnerable, fragile, in some way. doesnt matter who did it first, or best, or most, Right now, while I listen, this is what makes me ache, this is what I want to climb into.
I thought this was a Rod Stewart cover but Eddie does everything so well I can't even tell if it's a cover or an original till the end? Still not really sure. HAIL PEARL JAM!
yes indeed he is the best......one of the best dylan performances he does is masters of war in 1992 here on ytube. it is incredible and tho i love dylan....eddie more....but way better than dylans version and this is great but i like the version in water on the road concert better.
yes he has political views but so what it's his right to say wahtever he chooses.. beside that he is awesome a ph..ukn firepole in his house wow.... all there places are very nice.. fitting eachs personality.. mike the mostunderatted musiscian ever.. has a towm house or condo, stone lives out in the country and matt has a nie place.. so glad he joined the band..... keep on rocking in the free world.... PJ Rules no dout
Growing up i had over 300 albums, and although i admire some of his lyrical content, the Dylan albums in my collection were the ones i was drawn to the least. Vedder is just so far beyond Dylan in terms of performance, musicianship and public persona. Not to mention how much respect and admiration his band mates have for him.
I'm a huge PG and Eddie (I'm not gay, but talk about man crush) fan, and I respect Bob's songwriting (detest his singing), so I do like this version. But even though PG are my favs of all time, I have to be honest and say the Pretenders do the best version of this song. Something about Crissie Hines voice fits this song perfectly...
Michael Ladd yes masters of war made for eddie it seems. it is so passionate and deep and serious coming out of him like music takes over this mans body. theres a citizens for global peace concert too besides the 1992 version which as i mentioned is incredible.....you gotta see 1992 with him mcready and g.e. smith of snl band past but pretty recent global for peace and incredible to. dylan sings it too fast and not enough deepness emanates from him for a powerful song like m.o.w.
for some: if you feel there's a this-instrument-version or a song-version. You proly love music. so I'll say it with song titles... Let it go. Let it be. Enjoy the silence and Listen to the music.
Not this performance....This one was for his mom for her birthday. I have the whole bootleg, he tried getting the whole audience to sing her happy birthday because she was there, but all the crowd did was applaud lol.
@eatalot123 he does that kind of thing throughout the entire song...it's just part of his singing style or whatever.....then again it could be a tremble since he played this song for his mom for her birthday.
@giventofly1789 I've been to two concerts I know his voice trembles but here it is emotional tremble probably as you said cos he played this song for his mom.
fair point , but it was always intended by G&Rs to be a big loud live version , maybe it would of been better served and more in keeping with the meaning as an acoustic , ie patience , but as covers go its still a fair effort and Axels range is amazing .
i'm a big pearl jam and eddies music, including covers to songs like "times are a changing" or a great cover he did whit Neil Young to "I shall be released" both Dylan's songs. But in this one, i prefer Dylans way.
Vedder is not just a Rock and Roll singer.... he is a Rock historian. He knows the great talents that went before.... and he has influenced a generation in his own legacy. A great voice.
The best…. Rips you open and makes you appreciate the lyrics even more
Eddie eddie eddie...bit of emotion came to me each time thid mate open his mouth and sing...
Could be a recipe or Ikea instruction...lots of feeling, emotions and so on through all of these years thanks this bloke...
Tom petty once said: you've never heard a song until you hear eddie vedder sing it, i'm not saying his covers are better, but hell, this man has something that just triggers my tears and shivers my soul.
yep, something in the voice, the delivery, the way he takes on a song as if it hurts to sing, breaks my heart. I keep thinking, he's fey.
It was “The Waiting”, and that’s my favorite version. And I LOVE Tom Petty, but man...
Judy Thompson llkkkkkll
The lad is a ledgend. Its interesting to see how he matured through the years... so much that I can say he is still to provide us with the best of his work. Lucky us
You're a credit to yourself my man. Know the sun is due before the night even stirs...
May God's blessing keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay
Forever young
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
And may you stay
Forever young
Forever young
Forever young
May you stay
Forever young
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
And may you stay
Forever young
Forever young
Forever young
May you stay
Words and music by Bob Dylan
Good God, what a voice!!!
Words are too empty to describe this man but damn he is so talented and so fine.
His is the only voice that calms my jangled, tangled mind❤❤
love the song, voice, and the colors of his plaid jacket..
that melody is so beautiful...
I have always admired Eddie Vedder, and must express my amazing delight at how well he made this Dylan song come alive......WOWW!! "when the winds of changes shift...."
LOVE this song
A father to his children, beautiful
Isn’t it a Joan Baez song? Just looked it up she just has the best version.
wolfpacsyxx I know this comment is a year old but this is a Bob Dylan song
nobody does a cover like him! he respects the original! I like to jam but his covers made me love him. he is a great musician who loves other musicians! he is not trying to make a song better or change it. he is singing the so he he loves in his own way!
Rest In Peace Mitchel Shannon Lewis. May you stay Forever Young.
You eddie vedder will always be the best ...
A fantastic Dylan song covered by another artist .
i wish this song was 10 times longer
I love when he cover Dylan and Cat Stevens my two favorite solo musicians

Amazing song, awesome voice...
His voice is amazing..
I hav just been schooled, Thank you sir. Just Wiki'd the song, has roots goin back hundred plus years. Quite Fitting and understandable for such an epic song.
Its music, sound, vibrations. AND You infact are sound, vibrations Hence, music. Hence, Eddie Vedder and his music.
bless you and your god given talent . may you just stay forever.
Damn it, man. This man is a taste of Heaven with a guitar;)
Beautiful song thank you mam🙋♀️
You're welcome, sir.
sometimes he seems so vulnerable, fragile, in some way. doesnt matter who did it first, or best, or most, Right now, while I listen, this is what makes me ache, this is what I want to climb into.
Eddie does it again....tear jerker
u r inded the gift that god give to us all...
Better than the original by leaps n bounds! Eddie vedder continues to be an awesome rocking man just as men are intended to be 😍
I thought this was a Rod Stewart cover but Eddie does everything so well I can't even tell if it's a cover or an original till the end? Still not really sure. HAIL PEARL JAM!
Rod Stewart has a song by the same title. Not the same song.
what a gift, amazing voice :)
i like this. much like the version they did on the last waltz.
This guy rules
thank you SOA for another awesome song!
I love this man!
I love Eddie Vedder but the original is still the best.
There is always a version of a Dylan song in everything that is great.
Beautiful.
Maravilhoso Edi Veder!
Amazing!! get sweet chills everytime I hear Eddie sing his heart out on this sweet, sweet Dylan song :-)
Eddie Vedder owns every song he sings and makes the original versions even better songs than they probably thought they could be. Ugh...just love him.
Theresa L. Sherman agreed
Jep, one of the best ever for shure.
THAT. WAS. SPARTAAAAA!!!!!!
yes indeed he is the best......one of the best dylan performances he does is masters of war in 1992 here on ytube. it is incredible and tho i love dylan....eddie more....but way better than dylans version and this is great but i like the version in water on the road concert better.

Everything sounds better with Vedder
Great song..
great version of a Dylan classic :-)

Eddie, Sings with so much, SOUL!! LOVE, ALL HIS, MUSIC!!
Sometimes, the simplest of things can be more moving than others.
Very nice version! Christina Perri's is very good too.
Eddie doing a Bob Dylan song. It does not get much better than this song.
No one better.
eu assisti esse filme
muito bom.
There is never a bad version of a Dylan song, but there is never a version greater than his originals.
Touché
Great video!!! Thanks for posting! :)
Great song. Best version ever in my opinion is Norah Jones at the Steve Jobs memorial.
Es el medio tema, grande Dylan.
so simple but clever.
impressive how he can sing and play so well without moving a muscle...
There are no exceptions
Growing up i had over 300 albums, and although i admire some of his lyrical content, the Dylan albums in my collection were the ones i was drawn to the least. Vedder is just so far beyond Dylan in terms of performance, musicianship and public persona.
Not to mention how much respect and admiration his band mates have for him.
amazing work
Amen brother!
there is good , great then there's eddie vedder, kind of a national treasure in my opinion.
Love this😍😍🤗
#EddieVedder sends me " Into the wild"…
I'm a huge PG and Eddie (I'm not gay, but talk about man crush) fan, and I respect Bob's songwriting (detest his singing), so I do like this version. But even though PG are my favs of all time, I have to be honest and say the Pretenders do the best version of this song. Something about Crissie Hines voice fits this song perfectly...
BRAVO!!!!!!

Check out Eddie doing Dylans Masters of War..awesome version at dylans 30th anniversary concert.
one of the best covers of it about.
Vedder is one smart ,badass,he can play and sing anything...he will never die..his damn voice want for sure..great dude indeed!!!!ROCK ON MAN ROCK ON
for some: if you feel there's a this-instrument-version or a song-version. You proly love music. so I'll say it with song titles... Let it go. Let it be. Enjoy the silence and Listen to the music.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I would say Eddie has the most cover songs I think
Not this performance....This one was for his mom for her birthday. I have the whole bootleg, he tried getting the whole audience to sing her happy birthday because she was there, but all the crowd did was applaud lol.
Did anyone find a resemblance between this picture and the dude from big lebowski? ^^
N'oubliez jamais
I heard my father say
Every generation has its wake
A need to desobey............
@eatalot123 he does that kind of thing throughout the entire song...it's just part of his singing style or whatever.....then again it could be a tremble since he played this song for his mom for her birthday.
awesome
@giventofly1789 I've been to two concerts I know his voice trembles but here it is emotional tremble probably as you said cos he played this song for his mom.
lmao that actually made me go up and check like " I thought it was just a photograph...?" lol.. you got me.
4/16/2008 at the Spreckels Theater in San Diego, California.
it makes no f***kn difference what label you want to paste on it...it's simply MUSIC!
fair point , but it was always intended by G&Rs to be a big loud live version , maybe it would of been better served and more in keeping with the meaning as an acoustic , ie patience , but as covers go its still a fair effort and Axels range is amazing .
magnífico
Thanks
can't get Eddie Vedder then this
I love him so much that in each 6 slots in my cd player in the car is a PJ cd. A little obsessive, I know. But I'm ok with that!
@hudson0815 I like how you can't see his lips move while singing. That is a talent. :)
@giventofly1789 info on when and where was this recorded would be cool. Thanks for sharing!
Would like to hear Eddie sing this with Hothouse Flowers Singer Liam :-)
eddie - if yopur ever in Perth could we hava fire and discuss MR I can swim
i'm a big pearl jam and eddies music, including covers to songs like "times are a changing" or a great cover he did whit Neil Young to "I shall be released" both Dylan's songs. But in this one, i prefer Dylans way.
