Thanks really enjoyed, good to see you had your youngster out with you showing him the rooes.I used to take my boys with me,lots of fun they learned things and were a lot of help also😂
That’s when the best tips seem to come out! One thing that would be cool to see would be a detailed beaver sign reading video. Like all the features and the subtle things. I didn’t realize what the beaver scat looked like underwater until you mentioned it. Seems simple but it helps newbies like myself a lot!
Hahahaha! I love it… snaring is a big part of what I do for beavers mainly because that’s what my Dad taught me. I still catch some in drowner sets, and 330’s, but mostly all my beavers have that burn mark from the snare. I had a fur buyer cuss me once. He said “you know they make 330’s right?” He was giving me a hard time, but I think he meant it. Hahahahh. I tan all my beavers, and make things to sell that way it extends my trapping activities for a little longer in the year. Thanks for the support!
@Jeromy Cooley- Out West Adventures That's funny!! Yes I've learned my snaring tactics only from your videos.Thats why I got 6 coyotes this year in my limited time. Thx to you. That fur buyer was giving you the lighting & thunder LOL! Thx again .
Do you think I could get in on a profit split from your fur check? After seeing coyote prices I’m not sure if I’m going to be able to pay my fuel bill for the season, hahahahahah That’s great that some of my tips helped you out! Thanks for letting me know.
@Jeromy Cooley- Out West Adventures LOL...!!!!! Sure I'll split the $43.75 fur check. HAHAA... I bring the money to ya but I'm going to need to borrow a pony to get back home cause my can't afford to pay my own fuel to get back home. Lol Your welcome! Thx again
Your the Best of The BEST !!! So Real hands-On !!! Had a similar story with land owner’s, no violations etc. Anyway, 2-years later the new landowner’s called me back to trap those Nuisance Beaver’s. I didn’t want to do it, so they offered me $2,500.00 / year and trapping Right’s to manage their Beaver’s and Coyote’s …. Ideology doesn’t work with Mother Nature !!! Excellent Instruction !!!
Hey I just seen this comment. Thanks for the compliment it means a lot to me. I should have done more homework on the trapline in order to not have any problems. It all worked out in the end. Thanks for the comment
Thank you Craig. We had a lot of fun! We’re pulling the last of our river sets this weekend, and will be done for the season. I’m headed to our fur sale this evening to sell out!
Great Video Jeromy , I have never trapped Beaver as we dont have many around here , but with your video I would not have any trouble setting snares for them . Very informational , and I know it helps when you have a great assistant like Jack. Hope all is well ,
Thank you Mike! I think it may be worth you’re effort! I always like trying something new, and wish you good luck. Please let me know how it goes for you!

That’s awesome Dan. I’ll be watching your video! Those beaver better watch out, you’re already cleaning house with your traps. Now you’re coming at them with both barrels loaded…. Thanks for watching, and the support!
@@jeromycooley-outwestadvent5790 for crossovers it will be my preferred set up . i need to rig up rebar poles with support wire and anchor loop on them .
Thanks Rooster! We ended up with some pretty decent weather this season. Our season is over on March 15, so Spring beaver trapping is pretty short. Thanks for the comment, and good luck on your spring season if it ever comes lol
Awesome sets Jeromy ! Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks ! Might have to give beaver snaring a try one season ! Take care my friend and please say hi to Jack for me ! Stay safe stay healthy
Great video jeromy well worth the wait. Really good information on snaring beaver and reading their sign. Ive only caught 6 beaver on a snare. Seems they knock mine over but get a bigger thrill catching them with a snare over trapping them. Really be awesome to look over the shoulder of such a great trapper. Really enjoy the way you describe what you are doing and looking for.good seeing Jack out there with ya.also wanted to say thank you for the shirts very cool avery went nuts seeing the package and absolutely loves her shirt. We really enjoy watching your videos. Good luck to ya
This makes my day Jeff! I’m glad she has interest in trapping. She must be quite a young lady. Anytime you’d like to look over my shoulder just come on out! Send me an email, or get ahold of me. I think you have my number. There is something about snaring animals that is just a sense of accomplishment. Thanks for all the support Jeff, and come on out when you’re ready!
Awesome stuff Jeromy 👍👍, snares are a great for beaver and a lot lighter to pack than 330s! Looks like spring is there in your country, we’re still in the dead of winter up here, I’m kinda jealous 🤣🤣, thanks for taking us along for the ride
Yeah Frank, we didn’t really get winter here this year. We’re going on a 9 year drought is what they are telling me. Our reservoirs are all still empty, so the farmers, and ranchers are up the creek without any water… Thanks for watching!
I've had to deal with several Game Wardens over the years 99 times out of a 100 they are decent folks. Glad to hear everything went well with you permission situation.
They sure aren't here they gave my buddy a ticket for trapping a skunk under his house n releasing it on wma but not having a trapping license. I thought it was kinda crappy
Nice beavers, we had so much ice up here this year, I haven't set many beaver traps this year, I caught a few in the first few weeks of season, but it's been a rough trapping year
Loved the video just done my pa cable restraint course so I'm looking to try for a couple next season do you have a video on making the snares appreciate it best of luck
Thank you! If I catch them around the neck it’s almost 100%, but sometimes I get them caught with a front leg through, and then they are usually still alive. If it’s a small beaver sometimes they are caught by the hips
Hey Tom! Snares are a lot of fun. You can think of them as 330’s, and they have a more subtle appearance sometimes. I usually anchor them under water on a willow, or use a rebar stake. Wolf Fangs work great too. The thing I like the most Tom, is the cost. They cost under $1 each to make your own. I know you know how much 330’s are. They definitely don’t replace a 330, but they are another great tool In your arsenal. Thanks for the comment!
@@jeromycooley-outwestadvent5790 I appreciate the information, will certainly look into it sir. I hadn’t put much thought into them until I saw your videos and Dan’s, got me excited. An old trapper around here said he didn’t snare because of the fur damage on beavers, but it sure doesn’t look to be an issue on your videos!
You’re definitely correct on the fur damage Tom. Snares do leave a snare mark on the hide side for sure. As far as the fur side, not too much more damage than the 330 would leave. From my understanding most of the beaver are sold to the hatter market, so they may not mind a snare mark on the hide side of the animal. I’m not the expert in this area, but that is my reasoning behind it.
I definitely do! During the season I’ll have hundreds of different sets, and my memory isn’t that good…… but that’s why I take Jack along. He has reminded me several times this year that I drove, or floated past a set. Lol. He’s a great helper!

I understand completely I’ll have lots of snares out and drive by just looking at the bottom of the fence and try not to forget any. I have forgotten in the past because it’s just me. Sometimes I have a rider with me. To help open gates. Lol. So if I forget it all me.

Usually every 24 hours.
Do you like the 1x 19 better than 7x7 because of the strength or the loop shape ? Or both ?
I like how it holds its shape. I think either cable is good, but I prefer the 1x19 hands down
West?‽??? Looks east to me , Montana boy
